Last updated: October 2026

Keystone Strategy's summer 2027 internship postings are open now, and they publish the pay. On October 12, 2026, the firm's careers board showed two summer 2027 student postings: one for Summer Associates and Summer Consultants, and one for Technologist Summer Associates. They were first published on September 14 and 15, 2026, and both list a salary range of $7,000 to $12,500 a month. Both are interest pools: you submit your details, the firm reviews them, and selected candidates are invited to apply for a specific opening. In plain words: you apply during fall 2026 or winter 2026–27, and you intern in summer 2027.

One naming note before you search. The firm now trades as Keystone, and its site is keystone.com. The keystone.ai address belongs to Keystone AI, a separate software company spun out in 2026, and The Keystone Group is an unrelated Chicago consultancy.

What Is a Keystone Strategy Internship?

A Keystone Strategy internship is a paid summer role at Keystone, an economics, technology and strategy consulting firm founded in 2003. Interns join as a Summer Associate, Summer Consultant or Technologist Summer Associate and work with full-time teams on litigation, regulatory and strategy matters. The postings say the firm advises "technology leaders, Fortune 100 companies, their legal counsel, and governments." Vault's 2026 Best Consulting Firms for Retail Consulting list ranks Keystone Strategy #19, and Vault's internship profile describes a 10-week summer program. In January 2026 the firm announced a strategic investment from Audax Private Equity, and its AI software product became a separate company, Keystone AI. The consultancy's US offices are in Boston, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C. Much of the work is economic analysis for court cases and regulators, so this isn't a general strategy internship.

When Do Keystone Strategy Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Keystone first published its two summer 2027 interest pools on September 14 and 15, 2026. That's about nine months before a typical June start, though the postings give no start date. Neither posting states a deadline. The only cutoff we found is on Vault's internship profile, which says applications "normally open in the fall with a mid-April deadline." That line is undated and it isn't the firm's own. We couldn't recover the dates of the summer 2026 postings, so there's no year-over-year comparison. An older data point fits the same fall pattern: a Summer Associate posting was live on the firm's board in late November 2020. The firm also changed ownership in January 2026, so treat any date beyond this cycle as a loose estimate.

Now · October 2026YOU ARE HEREROLLING — APPLY WEEK 1

Applications for summer 2027 are open right now. Both interest pools are live: Summer Associates and Consultants (first published September 14, 2026) and Summer Technologists (September 15, 2026). Neither lists a deadline.

Submit to the pool first. Alongside it, the Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy Externship or the Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling Externship gives you a finished project to walk through in a case interview.
October to November 2026EXPECTED

The best time to be in the summer 2027 pool. Pick the posting that fits your degree, say which practice lane fits your coursework, and practice working a question out of a raw dataset in Excel, Python, R or Stata.

November 2026 to March 2027EXPECTED

Review, invitations to apply for specific summer 2027 openings, and case interviews are expected to run through the winter. The firm publishes no dates for these steps, so this range is our estimate from the September posting dates.

Mid-April 2027EXPECTED

The latest backstop for summer 2027. Vault says the deadline is normally mid-April, but the postings state none, and a pool can come down earlier. Don't plan around this date.

Summer 2027

The internship, about 10 weeks per Vault and the firm's earlier postings, in Boston, New York, San Francisco, Seattle or Washington, D.C. No conversion rate is published; Vault says the firm is known for hiring its summer interns full time.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Keystone's process is rolling, and the evidence is in the postings. Both summer 2027 postings say: "This posting is an interest pool rather than an application for a specific opening. After your information is reviewed, selected candidates may be invited to apply." So there are two gates. Your details are reviewed first, and only then can you be invited to an opening. Neither posting gives a deadline or says how many openings exist. A student who submits early is in the pool for every opening that follows. A student who waits for Vault's mid-April date is betting that openings will still be unfilled, and nothing the firm has published supports that bet. The pools have been up since mid-September, so this week is better than next month.

Which Keystone Strategy Internship Programs Should You Target?

Keystone has two summer 2027 student postings. The first covers two titles and two practice lanes, and the second is a separate technical track. Undergraduate, MBA and PhD candidates are handled differently, so check the last two rows.

PhD economistsNo summer posting on the board. The only PhD role is the full-time Economist 2027 posting, which isn't an internshipNot applicablePhD in economics

Both pools are on the Keystone careers page. The same board carries full-time postings for 2027 graduates (Associates and Consultants, MBA Consultant, Economist); those aren't internships.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

The two summer 2027 postings set these rules:

• Degree, Associates and Consultants: "currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Economics, Econometrics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field."

• Degree, Technologists: a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics or a related field.

• Class year: not stated. Neither posting names a graduation year.

• Tools: "experience with Python, R, Stata, or similar analytical tools" for Associates and Consultants; fluent Python plus one more programming language for Technologists.

• Work authorization: not stated on either posting. Vault's profile lists international students as eligible, but it's undated, so ask the recruiter before you count on sponsorship.

• Location: Boston, New York, San Francisco, Seattle or Washington, D.C. The Technologist posting leaves out Seattle.

Is There a GPA Cutoff at Keystone Strategy?

Not on the internship postings. They ask for "strong academic performance and evidence of intellectual curiosity" and name no number. The firm's full-time posting for 2027 graduates is more specific: it asks for a bachelor's degree "from a top university (target GPA 3.6+)," and the MBA Consultant posting says 3.7+. Those are full-time targets, not internship rules, but they show the bar the firm has in mind. If your GPA is under 3.6, lead your resume with a data project in Python, R or Stata, since both intern postings care most about analysis you can explain.

What Skills Does Keystone Strategy Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

We read the two intern postings and the firm's three full-time postings for 2027 graduates. They share one core: build and test models, then explain the result clearly. Python is named in four of the five and R or Stata in three. The Associates and Consultants posting asks interns to handle "data cleaning, exploratory analysis, model implementation, and validation" and to draft "sections of memos, reports, and presentations." The Technologist posting is a different job: fluent Python, "undergraduate level capability with data structures and algorithms," and work on "machine learning models, large language models (LLMs), and analytical pipelines." The firm sums that track up in one line: "we don't build technology, we build arguments about technology."

What Is the Keystone Strategy Application and Interview Process Like?

Keystone doesn't publish its interview steps. This is what the postings, Vault's intern reviews and one 2026 candidate report show:

1. Submit to an interest pool. Use the Associates and Consultants posting or the Technologists posting on the Keystone careers page. It's a short form on the firm's Greenhouse board.

2. Review. The posting says your information is reviewed and "selected candidates may be invited to apply for an available Summer Associate or Summer Consultant position." An invitation isn't guaranteed.

3. Phone screen. A candidate who interviewed for an analyst role described a standard first phone screen (community-reported on Reddit, February 2026; not confirmed for interns).

4. Case and behavioral round. Interns told Vault the interviews are "generally case interviews" built on real Keystone projects. The Reddit candidate described a 90-minute case and a 30-minute behavioral: about 50 minutes alone with Excel data, then a presentation and follow-up questions.

5. Offer. Offer timing isn't published, and we found no first-hand report of it.

For the behavioral half, our behavioral interview guide covers the STAR method.

What the Community Says

Reddit has very little on Keystone internships, so two of these three cards come from Vault's intern reviews, which are undated.

A candidate who interviewed for an analyst role described a phone screen, then a second round with a 90-minute case and a 30-minute behavioral. For the case they were given Excel data and about 50 minutes to work before presenting to the interviewer.

Interns said the interviews were mostly case interviews with plenty of time for behavioral questions, and that the cases came from real projects Keystone had worked on.

One intern said weekly hours depended on the project: about 60 on the first and about 45 on the second. Another said full-time staff encouraged interns to stop working by 5pm. In one summer, roughly two thirds of the interns worked on economic or litigation projects.

How Do You Stand Out for a Keystone Strategy Internship?

Three moves. First, pick the right pool and name your lane. Economics, finance, statistics or policy students belong in the Associates and Consultants pool; computer science and engineering students with strong Python belong in Technologists. Inside the first pool, say whether your coursework fits Finance, Economics, Tax and Securities or Antitrust & Competition. Second, show the tools on a real dataset. Python, R and Stata are named, so put one project near the top of your resume where you cleaned data, tested a model and wrote up the answer. Third, prepare for a data case. First-hand accounts describe cases built on real Keystone matters, and one candidate got about 50 minutes alone with a spreadsheet. Practice finding the question inside a dataset under a timer. Keystone publishes no applicant count, class size or conversion rate, so ignore any number you see quoted.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Keystone Strategy internship?

No. Summer 2026 has ended, and no summer 2026 posting remains on the firm's board. The open door is summer 2027: two interest pools, one for Summer Associates and Consultants and one for Summer Technologists, were first published on September 14 and 15, 2026, and both were live on October 12, 2026.

When do Keystone Strategy internship applications open for summer 2027?

They're open now. Keystone first published its summer 2027 Associates and Consultants pool on September 14, 2026, and its Technologists pool on September 15, about nine months before a typical June start. Vault says applications normally open in the fall, and a 2020 posting was live in late November, so fall is the pattern.

Is there a deadline for the Keystone Strategy internship?

No deadline is posted. Both summer 2027 postings are interest pools: your details are reviewed, and selected candidates may be invited to apply for a specific opening. Vault's profile says the deadline is normally mid-April, but that line is undated and isn't the firm's. Submit early instead of planning around April.

How much do Keystone Strategy interns make?

Keystone publishes $7,000 to $12,500 a month for summer 2027 on both student postings. The Technologist posting states the range per month; the Associates and Consultants posting prints the same figures without a unit. It's one range across five cities and two titles, so where you land depends on your degree and experience.

What GPA do you need for a Keystone Strategy internship?

The intern postings name no GPA. They ask for strong academic performance and intellectual curiosity. The firm's full-time posting for 2027 graduates lists a target GPA of 3.6 or higher, and its MBA Consultant posting lists 3.7, so treat about 3.6 as the informal bar and pair it with a strong data project.

What is the Keystone Strategy interview like?

Expect case interviews plus a behavioral portion. Interns told Vault the cases came from real Keystone projects. A candidate for an analyst role reported on Reddit in February 2026 a phone screen, then a 90-minute case with about 50 minutes alone on Excel data, followed by a 30-minute behavioral interview.

Do Keystone Strategy interns get full-time offers?

Keystone doesn't publish a conversion rate. Vault's profile says the firm is known for hiring its summer interns as full-time employees, and a 2020 posting said many Summer Associates went on to full-time roles. For context, the full-time Associates and Consultants posting for 2027 graduates lists $110,000 to $176,000 a year.

Is Keystone Strategy the same as Keystone AI or The Keystone Group?

No. Keystone Strategy now trades as Keystone and hires through keystone.com/careers. Keystone AI, at keystone.ai, is a software company spun out of the firm in 2026 and doesn't run these internships. The Keystone Group is an unrelated Chicago consultancy with its own program. Check the web address before you apply.

Keystone's two summer 2027 pools are open, and nothing on them says when they close. Submit now, and build a project you can talk through: a remote Externship gives you finished data, valuation or AI work for the case interview.
