Last updated: October 2026
Kaiser Associates hasn't opened its summer 2027 internship yet. On October 12, 2026, the firm's roles page listed two openings, both full-time Associate Consultant roles for 2027 graduates, and no internship. Kaiser's recruiting FAQ says it begins recruiting summer interns "in the late fall," and Vault's profile of the program says applications are typically accepted between November and December. In plain words: you apply in late 2026, you intern in summer 2027.
The program is small. Vault's profile lists fewer than 10 interns a year, at a Washington, DC strategy firm of about 65 consultants. One caution: Sia acquired Kaiser in January 2026, so this is the first internship cycle under the new owner, and nothing about it is posted yet. This page is about Kaiser Associates the consulting firm, not Kaiser Permanente the health system.
What Is a Kaiser Associates Internship?
A Kaiser Associates internship is a paid summer role called Summer Associate Consultant at Kaiser Associates, a strategy consulting firm founded in Washington, DC in 1981. Vault describes it as "an eight-week summer program open to rising senior undergraduates as well as Master's students about to begin their program," in which interns "work at the same level as associate consultants" on one to two client engagements. The firm is known for primary research and benchmarking, and it serves large companies and private equity funds. Kaiser ranks #16 on Vault's Consulting 50 (2026 edition). Since January 2026 it has been part of Sia, a Paris-headquartered consulting group, and it now recruits as "Kaiser Associates, a Sia Company." It has no connection to Kaiser Permanente or the Kaiser Family Foundation.

When Do Kaiser Associates Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
No dated internship posting from any Kaiser cycle could be recovered, so this calendar rests on two published statements. Kaiser's FAQ says "internship recruiting occurs in late fall/early winter" and that it recruits summer interns "at both the undergraduate/Masters and MBA levels." Vault's program profile says applications are typically accepted between November and December, phone interviews run in January and February, and offers go out by March, with interns starting in June. That puts the application window for summer 2027 about six to seven months before the internship starts. Kaiser's fall campus cycle is running: its full-time roles for 2027 graduates were posted on October 2, 2026. Whether the summer program continues unchanged under Sia isn't confirmed by any 2026 source.
Applications for summer 2027 aren't open yet. Kaiser's roles page lists two full-time Associate Consultant openings for 2027 graduates and no internship. This is the window to build the proof you'll put in the cover letter.
Summer Associate Consultant applications for summer 2027 are expected to be accepted, for both the undergraduate and MBA internships. Check Kaiser's roles page weekly from early November.
Phone interviews for summer 2027 candidates, then video or in-person rounds with behavioral and case questions.
Offers for summer 2027. Vault's profile says applicants who receive an offer will know by late winter.
The internship starts in Washington, DC: eight weeks for undergraduate and master's interns and ten weeks for MBA interns, per Vault. No return-offer rate is published.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Kaiser's intern recruiting looks like a short window, not a rolling posting. Vault's profile gives a fixed sequence: applications in November and December, phone interviews in January and February, offers by March. Two things make the first week matter. The class is tiny: Vault lists fewer than 10 interns a year, so there's little room for a late application. And the posting is easy to miss. Kaiser's Washington role is hosted on Sia's job system but doesn't appear in Sia's public job list, so it's reachable only from Kaiser's own roles page. We haven't read an internship posting from any year, so we can't say whether it names a deadline. Go by the posting when it appears.
Which Kaiser Associates Internship Programs Should You Target?
Kaiser has two summer internships, both in Washington, DC, plus a full-time role that's open now for 2027 graduates.
| Program | Who it's for | Length | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summer Associate Consultant | Rising senior undergraduates and students about to begin a master's | 8 weeks from June | Expected to take applications Nov to Dec 2026 for summer 2027 |
| MBA summer internship | A small number of MBA students | 10 weeks | Same expected window, per Vault |
| Associate Consultant, 2027 graduates (full-time, not an internship) | Students graduating in 2027 | Full-time, Washington, DC | Open now; posted Oct 2, 2026 |
Program lengths and class size come from Vault's internship profile, which is undated and partly out of date on addresses. Open roles are listed on Kaiser's roles page.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Kaiser hasn't published internship requirements for summer 2027. These come from Vault's program profile, Kaiser's FAQ and the full-time entry-level posting:
• Class year: rising seniors, plus students about to start a master's program. MBA students apply to the separate MBA internship.
• Major: not stated for interns. The full-time posting targets "Business, Economics, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Mathematics, and Science," and stays "open to other disciplines."
• GPA: no number is published. The full-time posting asks for "a high level of academic achievement."
• Work authorization: Kaiser's FAQ says "You must be legally authorized to work in the country in which you are applying." Vault lists international students as not eligible for the internship.
• Materials: an application to a specific posting, with a cover letter, per Vault.
• Languages: "Foreign language fluency preferred, but not required" on the full-time posting.

Do You Need to Attend a Target School?
No, by Kaiser's own account. Its FAQ says the firm recruits on campus at a select number of schools and hosts online events at many more, and adds: "If we do not actively recruit at your school you are still welcome to apply and you will be considered." The harder gate is work authorization. The 2027 entry-level posting says candidates are "not eligible for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future," and Kaiser's FAQ says it can't sponsor the Associate Consultant role. If you'll need sponsorship, confirm with the recruiting team before spending time on the application.

What Skills Does Kaiser Associates Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
There's no internship posting to read yet, so the best evidence is the full-time Associate Consultant posting, the role Vault says interns work alongside. It asks for three things. Research range: "gathering primary and secondary research through a range of research methodologies," which at Kaiser means expert interviews, surveys and syndicated data. Quantitative work: "experience working with large datasets and modeling," with market sizing, forecasting and P&L analysis named on Kaiser's site. Clear output: "impactful, creative presentations" in PowerPoint, plus Excel and Word. A foreign language is a stated preference.
Note: We haven't drawn a skills chart for Kaiser. No Kaiser internship posting is live, and none from an earlier year could be recovered, so there's nothing to count. The skills above are quoted from Kaiser's full-time Associate Consultant posting for 2027 graduates and its careers pages, read in October 2026.
How Is Demand for Consulting Interns Moving Right Now?
Consulting intern postings · Sep vs Aug 2026
vs 1,378 in August
For Kaiser Associates applicants: Kaiser's roles page listed two full-time Associate Consultant openings for 2027 graduates and no internship on October 12, 2026, and parent company Sia's job board showed no US intern posting. Kaiser says it recruits summer interns in the late fall, so start checking in early November.
Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size.
Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each skill in Kaiser's entry-level posting maps to a remote Externship that leaves you with a finished project.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Strategy problem solving | Growth strategy and go-to-market work are core engagement types on Kaiser's site | Lean Startup Co. Corporate Strategy Externship Mentored by Eric Ries |
| Large datasets and modeling | "experience working with large datasets and modeling" | Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy |
| Primary consumer research | "gathering primary and secondary research through a range of research methodologies" | Pinterest Gen Z Consumer Behavior |
| Market sizing and financial modeling | Market sizing, forecasting and P&L analysis named in the Associate Consultant responsibilities | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
Kaiser doesn't endorse any outside program. Its posting simply says project-based experience in strategy consulting or market research is "highly desirable," and a finished project is one way to show it.
What Is the Kaiser Associates Application and Interview Process Like?
Kaiser's FAQ describes the application and first interview. Vault's insider quotes, which come from full-time hires, describe the later rounds:
1. Apply to a specific posting through Kaiser's site, with a cover letter. Kaiser doesn't accept emailed résumés for general consideration.
2. Wait two to four weeks. That's Kaiser's typical response time. No confirmation email is sent, so the last page of the form is the only confirmation you'll get.
3. Phone interview. Kaiser says every position starts with one and that its interviews include "both behavioral and case interviews."
4. Written exercise. Vault insiders describe a writing assessment built around creating slides.
5. Final round. Vault insiders describe a Super Day with two cases and one behavioral interview, and the case examples they quote include market sizing and a profitability case for a small bakery.
Kaiser's recruiting team says it can't schedule informational interviews and suggests reaching consultants on LinkedIn. For the behavioral rounds, see our behavioral interview guide.
What the Community Says
Reddit has almost nothing on Kaiser's internship, so two of these cards use Vault's survey of the firm's consultants.
Consultants describe three rounds for full-time hires: a phone screen with behavioral questions and a mini case, a writing assessment where you build slides, and a Super Day with two cases and one behavioral interview.
On pay, insiders say everyone at the same level earns the same, and that the firm doesn't try to match base salaries at the three largest strategy firms. Travel is described as very limited.
A student holding full-time offers in DC from Kaiser Associates and a large firm's government practice said the two paid about the same. One commenter first mistook Kaiser for the health system.
How Do You Stand Out for a Kaiser Associates Internship?
Three moves. First, show research range, not only modeling. Kaiser sells itself on primary research, and its posting asks for "a range of research methodologies." Interviews you ran, a survey you designed or a dataset you cleaned all belong near the top of the résumé. Second, practice market sizing and a timed slide exercise, since Vault insiders name both along with profitability cases. A good drill is 45 minutes to turn a small dataset into two clear slides. Third, keep a second plan. With fewer than 10 interns a year per Vault, most strong applicants won't get a place, so if you graduate in 2027, look at the full-time Associate Consultant role, which is open now. A foreign language earns a line on the résumé too, since the posting lists it as preferred.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Kaiser Associates internship?
No. Summer 2026 is over, and Kaiser recruits each summer's interns in the late fall before. The next door is summer 2027: applications are expected in November and December 2026 and weren't posted as of October 12, 2026. If you graduate in 2027, the full-time Associate Consultant role is open now.
When do Kaiser Associates internship applications open for summer 2027?
Expect November to December 2026. Kaiser's FAQ says it begins recruiting summer interns in the late fall, and Vault's profile says applications are typically accepted between November and December, with interviews in January and February and offers by March. No dated posting exists yet, so check Kaiser's roles page from early November.
Is Kaiser Associates the same as Kaiser Permanente?
No. Kaiser Associates is a strategy consulting firm in Washington, DC, founded in 1981 and owned by Sia since January 2026. Kaiser Permanente is a health system with its own student programs, covered in our Kaiser Permanente internship guide. The Kaiser Family Foundation is a third, unrelated organization.
How much do Kaiser Associates interns get paid?
The internship is paid, but Kaiser doesn't publish the amount, and no intern posting is live to read. The only employer-published figure is for the full-time role: a base salary of $87,000 for Washington, DC Associate Consultants graduating in 2027, with a performance bonus. That isn't an intern rate.
Who is eligible for the Kaiser Associates internship?
Per Vault, the Summer Associate Consultant program is for rising senior undergraduates and students about to begin a master's, and a separate ten-week internship takes a small number of MBA students. You must already be authorized to work in the US. Vault lists international students as not eligible, and the entry-level role offers no visa sponsorship.
What is the Kaiser Associates interview process?
Kaiser says every position starts with a phone interview, usually followed by a video or in-person interview, with both behavioral and case questions. Vault insiders, describing full-time hiring, add a written slide exercise and a Super Day with two cases and one behavioral interview. Kaiser typically replies to applications within two to four weeks.
Did the Sia acquisition change the Kaiser Associates internship?
It isn't known yet. Sia announced the acquisition on January 26, 2026. Kaiser still recruits under its own name, and its 2027 graduate roles were posted on October 2, 2026 as "Kaiser Associates, a Sia Company," with applications on Sia's job system. Nothing has been published about the summer 2027 internship.
Does Kaiser Associates hire interns from non-target schools?
Kaiser says yes. Its FAQ states that it recruits on campus at a select number of schools and hosts online events at many more, and that students at other schools are still welcome to apply and will be considered. With fewer than 10 interns a year per Vault, every applicant faces long odds.
Kaiser's internship applications for summer 2027 are expected in November and December 2026. Use the weeks before then to finish something you can write about: a remote Externship gives you a real strategy or research project for the cover letter Kaiser asks for.
