GROWMARK's 2027 internships are open now, and almost all of them are hosted by local FS cooperatives, not by GROWMARK itself. The Bloomington, Illinois agricultural cooperative had 100 US internship postings live on its job site on October 26, 2026, posted between September 29 and October 25. Three are home-office roles at GROWMARK, Inc.; the other 97 sit at FS cooperatives and subsidiaries such as Insight FS, AgVantage FS and New Century FS, and those are the employers. Pay is printed on 44 of the 100 postings and runs from $15 to $23 an hour, depending on the host and the role. In plain words: you apply during 2026, you intern in spring or summer 2027, and no posting states a deadline.

The row that matters most: the formal programs are jointly hosted, so you apply to a specific local cooperative's posting, and the pay and start date come from that posting.

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most often in 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. No open Externship is about agronomy, but the Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics Externship builds inventory and operations thinking, and the SQL & Database Architecture Externship with Breaking Games fits the data side of GROWMARK's IT Innovation role. What Is a GROWMARK Internship?

A GROWMARK internship is a paid spring or summer placement, and it's jointly hosted. GROWMARK, Inc. is an agricultural cooperative in Bloomington, Illinois, serving more than 100,000 customers, and its member cooperatives and subsidiaries operate under the FS brand. GROWMARK says its program has run for more than 60 years. Most interns work for a local FS cooperative such as Heritage FS or Insight FS, in agronomy, energy, grain or business operations, and a few work at the Bloomington home office. This guide covers the US postings only. Student opportunities outside the formal programs also exist at FS companies, and GROWMARK's student page says those aren't part of the GROWMARK programs. GROWMARK doesn't publish a conversion rate.

When Do GROWMARK Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

GROWMARK posted its 2027 internships over four weeks. The first postings went up September 29, 2026 (17 that day and 17 the next), and the rest followed through October, with the newest on October 25. A home-office posting gives the start: the GROWMARK Internship Program lists a minimum of 12 weeks starting May 24, 2027, which puts the postings about 7 to 8 months ahead. Exploring Agriculture postings name one orientation on May 17 and 18, 2027. For last cycle we have one archived copy of GROWMARK's own IT Innovation posting, captured September 17, 2025, that shows it was posted August 28, 2025, so the same posting this year went up 35 days later, on October 2. We couldn't recover last cycle's local-cooperative dates, so the summer 2028 window is a projection: expect postings from August to October 2027, with low to medium confidence.

August to October 2027EXPECTED

Summer 2028 postings expected, if the pattern repeats. Low to medium confidence: we have last cycle's date for one home-office posting only.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

GROWMARK's postings are rolling and local, and that makes early the safer bet. No posting states a closing date, but each one is a single opening at a single cooperative, and a cooperative can fill it when it likes. The postings arrived over four weeks and 7 were dated October 25, the day before we checked, so hosts are still adding and updating them. Waiting for the 'right' posting near you risks a closed one. Apply to a posting near you now, and keep checking for the next batch.

Which GROWMARK Internship Programs Should You Target?

Two formal programs run through local cooperatives, plus a few specialist postings. The title of the posting tells you which one you're applying to.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Requirements follow the program and the host. These come from the 100 US postings, which we read on October 26, 2026.

• Exploring Agriculture: pursuing a degree or certification from a community college, technical college or university, in good academic standing, with a first- or second-year student preferred.

• GROWMARK Internship Program (agronomy, safety): pursuing a degree or certification, with candidates going into their junior or senior year preferred. A junior going into senior year qualifies; students graduating before the internship begins don't.

• Home-office and business roles: at least a second-semester junior or first-semester senior at a four-year university. IT Innovation wants an IT-related degree (data science, analytics, statistics, math or engineering count); Energy wants marketing, communications or agriculture.

• Retail agronomy and MiField: retail postings typically ask for a high school diploma and age 18; MiField wants at least one year of college in an ag-related degree.

• Licences and physical work: a valid driver's license appears in all 100 postings, 84 mention lifting up to 70 pounds, and 46 mention a CDL or commercial applicator's license, required or preferred.

• GPA and work authorization: no GPA number; the postings don't address work authorization.

Do You Need an Agriculture Degree?

Not for every posting. The agronomy roles want an ag-related background or interest, but IT Innovation asks for an IT-related degree, Project Coordination for an IT or business-related degree, and the Energy role for marketing, communications or agriculture. Exploring Agriculture is meant for early-career students deciding whether the industry fits. The odd ones out are two Insight FS administrative assistant internships that normally ask for 1 to 3 years of clerical work experience, unusual for an internship, so read each posting before you rule yourself in or out.

What Skills Does GROWMARK Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Three themes run through the postings. Field agronomy: crop scouting and monitoring equipment, applying crop nutrition and protection products, inventory control, and customer service at an FS location. Licences and logistics: a valid driver's license in every posting, a CDL or commercial applicator's license required or preferred in 46, lifting up to 70 pounds in 84, and overnight travel in 72. Business and technology: the home-office roles ask for programming and analytics (Java or C#, JavaScript, Python and SQL are named for IT Innovation), project governance and record-keeping, or energy sales and delivery logistics.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Each skill below maps to a remote Externship you can finish while postings are still open. The fit is loose, because no open Externship covers agronomy.

What Is the GROWMARK Application and Interview Process Like?

GROWMARK doesn't publish interview stages. This is what its pages and postings do say.

1. Pick a posting. Search jobs.growmark.com and open the posting for the program and location you want. The Internships page also invites you to introduce yourself to GROWMARK's student recruiting team.

2. Apply to the host. Each posting is a specific cooperative's opening, so the hiring contact and start date are local.

3. Screening. Postings say employment is contingent on a job-related background check, drug test, motor vehicle report and reference check, as applicable.

4. Program events. Formal-program interns attend required events in Bloomington, Illinois, and submit weekly activity reports (31 postings) or complete a summer project.

Interview format, rounds and timing aren't published.

What We Found on Reddit

Nothing we can use. The two GROWMARK threads we read are about a graduate's full-time job search and an agronomy graduate's career change, not the internship. We'd rather show no quotes than borrow someone else's.

How Do You Stand Out at an Agricultural Cooperative?

First, match the program to your year. Exploring Agriculture prefers first- and second-year students; the GROWMARK Internship Program prefers juniors and seniors who want a full-time role afterward. Second, handle the practical requirements early: a clean driving record, a driver's license and, for field roles, any CDL or applicator's license you can get. Third, show you understand the cooperative model. Your employer is the local FS cooperative, so name it and its customers in your application. GROWMARK says the program has run for more than 60 years but publishes no applicant count or conversion rate.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 GROWMARK internship?

No. Summer 2026 internships ran last summer and are over. The cycle open now is spring and summer 2027: 100 US internship postings were live on GROWMARK's job site on October 26, 2026, dated September 29 to October 25, mostly at local FS cooperatives, and none states a deadline.

When do GROWMARK internship applications open?

They're open now. The first 2027 postings went up on September 29, 2026 and the newest on October 25. Last cycle, GROWMARK's own IT Innovation posting was dated August 28, 2025, and this year's was October 2, so we expect summer 2028 postings from August to October 2027, with low confidence.

How much do GROWMARK interns get paid?

It depends on the host and role, and only 44 of the 100 US postings print a figure. Exploring Agriculture shows $15 to $19, the GROWMARK Internship Program $18.50 to $20, MiField $16 to $17, and the home-office roles $19 to $23 an hour. Pay is hourly and set by each posting.

Is the employer GROWMARK or an FS cooperative?

Usually the local FS cooperative. GROWMARK says its programs are jointly hosted by GROWMARK and participating FS member cooperatives or subsidiaries, and 97 of the 100 postings sit at those hosts. Only 3 are home-office roles at GROWMARK, Inc. in Bloomington and Nashville, Illinois.

Who can apply for a GROWMARK internship?

Students at community colleges, technical colleges and universities. Exploring Agriculture prefers first- and second-year students, the GROWMARK Internship Program prefers juniors and seniors, and home-office roles want at least a second-semester junior at a four-year university. The postings state no GPA or work authorization rule.

What is the difference between Exploring Agriculture and the GROWMARK Internship Program?

Exploring Agriculture is a hands-on agronomy, energy or business operations internship for early-career students, with one conference in Bloomington. The GROWMARK Internship Program lasts 12 weeks, adds an intern project, mentorship and three conferences, and suits students looking for full-time employment in sales, service or business.

Do I need an agriculture degree to intern at GROWMARK?

Not for every posting. Agronomy roles want an ag background or interest, but IT Innovation asks for an IT-related degree, Project Coordination for an IT or business-related degree, and the Energy role for marketing, communications or agriculture. Retail agronomy postings typically ask for a high school diploma and age 18.

Do GROWMARK interns get full-time offers?

GROWMARK doesn't publish a conversion rate. Its Internships page says the program has run for more than 60 years and profiles former interns now in full-time roles, such as a technical agronomy specialist. A home-office posting cites over 1,350 students over 68 years. Treat any percentage on third-party sites as unverified.

Open the posting for your program and nearest cooperative this week and apply. While you wait to hear back, a remote Externship gives you a finished data or operations project to discuss in the interview.
