Last updated: October 2026
The Goldman Sachs Possibilities Summits program for first-year undergraduates at US colleges was renamed the Goldman Sachs Possibilities Series in fall 2025. The 2026 edition is closed (applications ran February 1 to March 22, 2026), and the 2027 edition is expected to open around February 2027, based on last year's February 1 opening. Goldman hasn't announced 2027 dates yet. If you're a first-year student in October 2026, you're the likely audience for that cycle, so the next few months are your window to get ready.

The key detail most applicants miss: this program is for first-year students only, so you get one shot at it, in the spring of your first year. By the time you're a sophomore, you've aged out.
The Possibilities Series is an introduction to financial services, and a first-year resume rarely shows any finance work yet. A remote Externship like the Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis and Private Company Valuation Externship gives you a real finance project to mention before the 2027 edition opens.
What Is the Goldman Sachs Possibilities Summit (Possibilities Series)?
The Goldman Sachs Possibilities Series is an early-career program for first-year undergraduates who are exploring careers in financial services. It started life as Possibilities Summits, which Goldman described as a year-long virtual program for undergraduates exploring career opportunities, running January to December 2025. In fall 2025 the Americas page was replaced by the Possibilities Series page, which ran a Spring 2026 edition and is still listed on Goldman's programs page today. Goldman's page says you'll build a personal and professional network, join interactive workshops on top industry skills, and learn about career opportunities across the firm's divisions. An archived October 2025 version also mentioned resume and interview skills.

Who Can Apply to the Goldman Sachs Possibilities Series?
Goldman's page for the 2026 edition sets a short list of rules:
• Class year: first-year undergraduates only. The 2026 edition asked for students graduating between December 2028 and May 2029; the 2025 Summits edition took December 2027 to June 2028 graduates
• School: you must attend a US college or university
• GPA and major: none published
• Work authorization: not addressed on the current page
• Openness: the January 2026 page said all are welcome to apply
The graduation window moved forward one year between the 2025 and 2026 editions. If that pattern holds, the 2027 edition would target students graduating around December 2029 to May 2030, which means first-years in fall 2026. Confirm the exact window on Goldman's page when it posts. Goldman also runs a separate Asia Possibilities Series and a Market Madness HBCU Possibilities program.
When Does the Goldman Sachs Possibilities Series Open for 2027?
Goldman hasn't announced the 2027 edition, so these dates are projected from one cycle under the Possibilities Series name. The 2026 edition was announced in January with an opening date of February 1, 2026, opened on schedule, and had its March 1 deadline extended to March 22, 2026. Expect a similar February to March window in 2027, with the program running in spring 2027.
The 2026 edition is closed and nothing is posted for 2027. If you're a first-year, check Goldman's page every few weeks and start building something finance-related to talk about.
Expected: Goldman updates the page with the 2027 opening date. In 2026, the page announced the February 1 opening by mid-January.
Expected opening for the 2027 edition, based on the February 1, 2026 opening last cycle. Apply through the Apply Now link on the program page.
Expected close. The 2026 deadline started at March 1 and was extended to March 22, but don't count on an extension.
The 2027 edition is expected to run in spring 2027. Goldman confirmed the 2026 location only on acceptance.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and the employer's own postings. Treat future dates as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The program's official page is always the most current source. If it's posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
How Do You Apply to the Goldman Sachs Possibilities Series?
Goldman publishes very little about the selection steps. Here's what's known:
1. Watch the Possibilities Series page for the 2027 opening date. In 2026 the opening date was on the page by mid-January, at least two weeks ahead.
2. When applications open, apply online through the Apply Now link on that page.
3. Check that you fit the graduation window Goldman lists for that edition. It moves forward by a year each cycle.
4. Submit before the deadline. Goldman extended the 2026 deadline, but you shouldn't plan around that.
Goldman doesn't publish assessments, essays or interviews for this program, so treat your resume and any application questions as the whole case. Have a one-page resume ready before February.
Does the Goldman Sachs Possibilities Series Lead to an Internship?
Goldman's page doesn't say the Possibilities Series leads to an internship or an interview. It promises connections and an introduction to financial services, framed as a way to launch your professional journey. Some students on forums describe it as a pipeline, but Goldman doesn't state that. What it can give you is early exposure to the firm's divisions and people you can follow up with when you apply for a summer analyst role later. For Goldman's internship timelines, see our Goldman Sachs internship guide.
How Do You Stand Out in a Possibilities Series Application?
Goldman doesn't publish a GPA bar or a test for this program, so your resume and answers carry the application. As a first-year, the gap is usually proof that your interest in finance goes past a class or a club sign-up. Here's how to close it.
| What to show | Why it matters here | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Real interest in financial services | The program is pitched as an introduction to finance careers, so a concrete finance project shows you've already started | Attronica FP&A and Private Company Valuation |
| Comfort analyzing companies | Sessions cover careers across Goldman's divisions, and investing and banking work start with judging a business | Mangusta Capital Deal Sourcing & Startup Analysis |
| Working with data and presenting findings | Workshops focus on industry skills; turning numbers into a clear recommendation is the one that carries across divisions | Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy |
Apply even if your resume feels thin. Goldman's page says all are welcome, and the program exists for first-years who are still exploring.

FAQ
When does the Goldman Sachs Possibilities Series open for 2027?
It's expected to open around February 2027, based on the 2026 edition's February 1, 2026 opening. Goldman hasn't announced 2027 dates. The 2026 edition originally closed March 1 and was extended to March 22, 2026, so plan for a short February to March window and check the program page from January.
Is the Possibilities Summit the same as the Possibilities Series?
Yes. Goldman's Americas program was called Possibilities Summits through 2025, when it ran as a year-long virtual program from January to December. In fall 2025 the page was replaced by the Goldman Sachs Possibilities Series, which ran a Spring 2026 edition. Searches for the summit now point to the series.
Who is eligible for the Goldman Sachs Possibilities Series?
First-year undergraduates at a US college or university. The 2026 edition asked for students graduating between December 2028 and May 2029. Goldman doesn't publish a GPA minimum, major requirement or work-authorization rule for this program, and its January 2026 page said all are welcome to apply.
Is the Possibilities Series paid?
Goldman doesn't mention any pay or stipend for the Possibilities Series. It's a short early-career program built around networking and workshops, not a job. If Goldman adds compensation or travel details for the 2027 edition, they'll appear on the program page.
Is the Possibilities Series virtual or in person?
It has varied. The 2025 Possibilities Summits edition was virtual and ran all year. For the Spring 2026 edition, Goldman's page said the location would be confirmed on acceptance. Check the 2027 page for the format once it's posted, and plan for either, since Goldman may confirm it only after you're accepted.
Can sophomores apply to the Possibilities Series?
No. The program targets first-year students, and each edition sets a graduation window that moves forward one year. If you're a sophomore in fall 2026, look at sophomore programs instead, such as the Barclays US Discovery Program, which last ran in fall 2025.
Does the Possibilities Series lead to a Goldman Sachs internship?
Goldman doesn't say it does. The page promises connections, workshops and an introduction to financial services, not an interview or offer. It can still help you later, because you'll know more about Goldman's divisions and have contacts when you apply for a summer analyst role.
The 2027 window is expected to open in February and may only stay open a few weeks. Use the months before then to build one finance project you can talk about, and a remote Externship is a fast way to get it on your resume.
