Last updated: October 2026
Fisher Investments' summer 2027 internships are open now. All eight US roles went up on September 8, 2026. All eight were still live when we rechecked on October 3. Fisher's students page says internships are "filled on a rolling basis," so the earliest applicants see the most open seats. In plain words: you apply during 2026, you intern in summer 2027, and at Fisher the window is already open.
The program runs 10 weeks in person at one of three offices: Camas, Washington; Plano, Texas; or Tampa, Florida. Pay in Washington is $20 an hour. It's built for juniors: every posting asks for graduation between December 2027 and August 2028, no finance background needed, and the Washington postings add a discretionary relocation stipend on top of 40 paid hours a week. Fisher is the fee-based money manager Ken Fisher founded in 1979; it reports $441 billion-plus in assets under management.
What Is a Fisher Investments Internship?
A Fisher Investments internship is a 10-week, paid, in-person summer program for college juniors at Fisher Investments, the fee-based investment adviser founded by Ken Fisher in 1979. Interns join one of three tracks, Client Services, Sales or Information Technology, and get classroom and on-the-job training, project work, mentorship, and sessions with firm leaders, plus intern projects and competitions. Fisher reports $441 billion-plus in assets under management as of June 30, 2026, more than 210,000 clients, and about 7,000 employees across 15 offices. Its headquarters is in Plano, Texas. Don't confuse it with Thermo Fisher Scientific, an unrelated life sciences company.

When Do Fisher Investments Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Fisher keeps a simple calendar. Its students page says applications "open in early September and are filled on a rolling basis," and this cycle all eight US postings went up on September 8, 2026. Past cycles followed the same rhythm: one student had a sales intern interview by September 20, 2024, and another posted a Fisher internship offer on January 27, 2025, so offers keep going out into winter while seats remain. Lead time is about 8.5 months to the Plano and Tampa start (May 24, 2027) and 9 months to Camas (June 9, 2027). Expect summer 2028 applications in early September 2027.
Applications for summer 2027 are open right now: Client Services and Sales in Camas, Plano and Tampa, and Information Technology in Camas and Plano. All eight were still live on October 3. Fisher fills seats as offers are accepted.
Rolling interviews and offers for summer 2027. With no deadline, each week you wait means fewer open seats at your preferred office. Apply this fall rather than in spring.
Offers can still go out (a prior-cycle offer was posted on January 27, 2025), but only where seats remain. Some office and track combinations may close by then.
Plano and Tampa run May 24 to July 30, 2027; Camas runs June 9 to August 13, 2027. Ten weeks, 40 hours a week, in person, with intern projects and competitions.
Applications for summer 2028 expected to open, following Fisher's stated early-September pattern. Students graduating between about December 2028 and August 2029 would be the target class.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Fisher's own words set the mode: applications open in early September and "are filled on a rolling basis." No posting lists a deadline; the September 8, 2027 end date in the posting data is exactly one year after posting, an automatic expiry rather than a cutoff. So the risk isn't missing a date, it's missing a seat. Each office runs its own posting, and seats at your preferred office can fill while you wait for spring. Apply in October to the office and track you want most, then add a second office if you're open to relocating.
Which Fisher Investments Internship Programs Should You Target?
Fisher runs three tracks, each posted separately for each office. Pick the track first, then the office whose dates fit your school calendar.
| Track | Focus | Offices and dates | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Client Services | Supporting a client-facing department; training courses; project work that affects teams across the firm | Camas (Jun 9 to Aug 13); Plano and Tampa (May 24 to Jul 30) | Client focus, building trust, prioritizing competing tasks |
| Sales | Processing lead requests in the CRM for senior salespeople; calling warm leads to explain Fisher's value proposition to high-net-worth investors | Camas; Plano; Tampa | Goal-setting record, persuasive communication |
| Information Technology | Automated reports, intake templates, software standards documentation, code and integration tools, testing and infrastructure support | Camas; Plano | ServiceNow, Jira, CRM; C#, .NET, SQL, Power BI, Azure a plus |
| Junior Associate Program (not an internship) | Part-time school-year work for students who can commute to an office | Camas; Plano; Tampa | 15 to 28 hours a week |

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Fisher's requirements are short and the same across all eight postings:
• Class year: the summer between junior and senior year; every posting asks for graduation between December 2027 and August 2028.
• School: attending an accredited university.
• Major: any. Sales and Client Services say no prior sales or industry experience is required.
• IT extras: knowledge of ServiceNow, Jira or similar tools and CRM, plus experience building software, integrations or automation.
• Location: able to relocate and attend in person for 10 weeks.
• GPA and work authorization: not stated on any posting; ask your recruiter.

Do You Need a Finance Major for a Fisher Investments Internship?
No. The Client Services and Sales postings say Fisher hires from all majors, with no prior industry or sales experience needed. What they do ask for instead is a track record of setting and reaching goals, and for Sales, experience persuading people. A student-club target you hit, a fundraising total or a sales job with numbers counts more than coursework.

What Skills Does Fisher Investments Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Fisher's postings ask for traits more than tools. Six of eight want a proven record of setting and achieving goals and a strong client focus, and five mention CRM work. The tracks split from there. Sales: persuasive communication and calling warm leads. Client Services: building trust and prioritizing competing operational tasks. IT: ServiceNow, Jira and CRM, plus software, integration and automation experience, with C#, .NET, SQL, Power BI and Azure as extras.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each Fisher skill maps to a remote Externship where you finish a real project with a result you can quote.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Investing and market literacy | Sales and Client Services: explain Fisher's approach to investors' financial goals | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
| Relationship building and revenue goals | Sales: proven record of setting and achieving goals; compelling arguments | Khan Academy Strategic Partnerships & Earned Revenue |
| Understanding client needs | Client Services: creating an unparalleled client experience | Consumer Behavior Insights with Generous Brands |
| SQL and reporting | IT: SQL, DAX and Power BI listed as additional qualifications | Breaking Games SQL Database Architecture |
For Sales, the Khan Academy project is the closest match: it ends with a revenue or partnership target you set and worked toward, which is the goal-setting story Fisher's postings ask for.
What Is the Fisher Investments Application and Interview Process Like?
Fisher doesn't describe its intern interview steps; this is what its site and past candidates show:
1. Apply by office. Each office has its own posting for each track, so apply to the Camas, Plano or Tampa version you want.
2. Prepare with Fisher's videos. Fisher's three-part series, Set Yourself Up for Success, covers what it looks for in candidates.
3. Phone interview. Candidates for Fisher's full-time client roles describe an initial phone interview; one 2024 sales intern candidate had an interview by September 20.
4. Final interview. Full-time candidates describe a long final round of two hours or more; expect a substantial conversation, not a quick chat.
5. Offer. Rolling; a prior-cycle offer was posted in late January.
Go in with two or three goal stories that include numbers; our behavioral interview guide shows how to structure them.
What Students on Reddit Say
Reddit threads about Fisher internships are few and mostly from applicants, so read these as a range of views rather than a verdict.
A student who landed a Fisher internship offer in late January asked if it would help their resume. Replies agreed any internship beats none, called Fisher a well-known firm, and said anyone with a knack for sales who works hard can earn very well there.
A fourth-year student had a Fisher sales intern interview by mid-September and worried that sales wouldn't help a finance career. A reply said sales experience transfers widely and that Fisher's fee-only model is a plus.
A former part-time junior associate near Plano described simple, repetitive work with very flexible hours and friendly coworkers, but little room to grow before graduation. They said it helped them land better-paying internships later.
How Do You Stand Out for a Fisher Investments Internship?
Three moves. First, bring numbers. Six of eight postings ask for a proven track record of setting and achieving goals, so quote targets you hit: a club fundraising total, a sales quota, a GPA climb, a project shipped on time. Second, know what the job is. Sales interns process CRM lead requests and call warm leads to high-net-worth investors. Say in your interview that you've thought about that work and want it. Third, apply where you'd actually go. Each office posts separately and seats fill on a rolling basis, so a strong, early application to one office beats a late one to three. Fisher publishes no applicant count or conversion rate; it says the program builds skills for future sales, service, operations and IT roles at the firm.

No. Fisher Investments is an investment adviser founded by Ken Fisher in 1979 and headquartered in Plano, Texas.
