Last updated: October 2026
Echo Global Logistics posted 14 summer-2027 internships in September 2026, and four of them closed within a month. On 3 October 2026 its Workday board still showed 10 open: client sales, carrier sales and sales development roles in Chicago, Detroit, Kansas City, Dallas and Nashville, a Route 27 intern in Chicago, and three operations roles at Echo's Roadtex subsidiary in Indiana and Illinois. The Accounting, FP&A, HR and Marketing internships posted on 2 September were already gone. Every req fixes the same start: 24 May 2027, for a 10-week, paid program, and the Chicago postings list an annualized range of $35,223 to $50,166. In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, you intern from 24 May 2027. Echo is a Chicago freight brokerage and managed transportation company founded in 2005, not EchoStar.

Externships are short, remote projects where you finish real work for a real company, most running 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. What Is an Echo Global Logistics Internship?
An Echo Global Logistics internship, which Echo calls its Trailblazers program, is a 10-week, paid summer placement with one of Echo's teams at a Chicago-based freight brokerage and managed transportation company. Echo's early careers page lists four tracks: sales (client and carrier), managed transportation and Roadtex, corporate functions, and technology. A client sales intern trains first, then pairs with a mentor to build account relationships, present Echo's services and watch shipments in progress; Roadtex interns work on process engineering, supply chain analysis and transportation operations at a temperature-controlled freight business Echo acquired in 2022. Most roles are hybrid, with three or four office days a week. Private since The Jordan Company completed its acquisition in November 2021, Echo recruits on campus every fall and spring.

When Do Echo Global Logistics Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Echo says its early talent recruiting "starts in the Fall to recruit for full-time and internship opportunities the following year." This cycle, its summer-2027 reqs went live between 2 and 22 September 2026, about 8.7 months before the 24 May 2027 start. They didn't all stay open: by 3 October, the Accounting, FP&A, HR and Marketing internships returned a closed status on Echo's Workday system, while the sales, Route 27 and Roadtex roles were still live, several of them reposted. We couldn't recover last cycle's open dates, so the summer 2028 timing below rests on Echo's own fall-recruiting statement.
Some tracks have already closed. Still open: client sales (Chicago, Detroit, Kansas City), carrier sales (Chicago), sales development (Dallas, Nashville), the Route 27 intern and three Roadtex roles. Closed by 3 October: Accounting, FP&A, HR and Marketing.
Echo's careers page lists campus career fairs at UIC (7 October), Michigan State (14 October) and Illinois State (15 October). Bring a resume and ask which roles are still open.
Rolling interviews: recruiter phone call, a 15 to 20 minute assessment, then an onsite manager interview at Chicago headquarters with job shadowing. Echo recruits on campus every fall and spring, so reposted or new roles may appear.
The 10-week Trailblazers program starts for everyone. You must start that day and finish all 10 weeks.
Applications for summer 2028 expected, following Echo's fall recruiting cycle. Echo describes the internship as having potential for full-time employment.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Echo's reqs don't print a closing date, so this is a rolling process, but rolling here moved fast. Four of the 14 summer-2027 internships, all corporate roles posted on 2 September 2026, had closed by 3 October; the Workday system returns a closed status for each. The sales and Roadtex roles are still up partly because there are several seats across cities, and Echo has reposted some of them. The hiring steps also take time: a phone screen, an assessment and an onsite interview with job shadowing at Chicago headquarters. If one of the open roles fits, apply this week rather than after the fall career fairs.
Which Echo Global Logistics Internship Programs Should You Target?
Echo's Trailblazers internship has four tracks. Here's what was open on 3 October 2026.
| Track | Focus | Duration | Key details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Client Sales (open) | Build and manage shipper accounts with a sales mentor; track shipments | 10 weeks from 24 May 2027 | Chicago, Troy MI, Overland Park KS; 4 office days; no major or GPA bar |
| Carrier Sales and Sales Development (open) | Book carriers; prospect new shippers | 10 weeks | Carrier Sales Chicago (3 office days); SDR Dallas and Nashville |
| Route 27 intern (open) | Managed transportation; preview of Echo's Route 27 fast-track rotations | 10 weeks | Chicago; 2028 graduates in supply chain; strong Excel |
| Roadtex operations (open) | Process engineering, supply chain analysis, transportation operations | 10 weeks | Greenfield IN (Process Engineer on site 5 days) and Woodridge IL |
| Corporate (closed) | Accounting, FP&A, HR, Marketing | 10 weeks | Chicago; posted 2 Sep 2026, closed by 3 Oct; FP&A and Accounting had 3.0 and 3.5 GPA requirements |
Echo lists technology internships as a track on its early careers page, but no tech intern req was open on 3 October. Check the Workday board for new postings.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Every open req shares the start-date rule; the rest varies by track:
• Start date: you must be able to start on 24 May 2027 and complete the entire 10-week program.
• Sales roles: currently enrolled as a rising senior with at least one semester left after the internship; "no major or GPA requirements."
• Route 27 intern: a 2028 graduate earning a bachelor's in supply chain.
• Roadtex Process Engineer: supply chain, industrial or mechanical engineering, on site five days a week in Greenfield, Indiana.
• Relocation: Echo's FAQ says it doesn't provide relocation help for early-career roles.
• Visa sponsorship: not stated in the reqs we read; ask the recruiter.

Does Echo Have a GPA Cutoff?
Not for the roles still open. Every sales req says there are no major or GPA requirements. The GPA bars belonged to corporate roles that have closed: FP&A asked for a 3.0 in finance or accounting, Accounting for a 3.5, and Marketing preferred 3.5 or higher. If those tracks reopen next fall, expect the same bars.
What Skills Does Echo Global Logistics Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Echo's reqs are consistent about soft skills. All nine intern-titled reqs we read ask for communication, teamwork, problem solving, and time and project management, and the sales roles add coachability and comfort with outreach. Roadtex roles bring the technical side: process optimization, root cause analysis, automation ROI and, for the Process Engineer, CAD or simulation as a plus. Route 27 asks for strong Excel.

The 15 to 20 minute assessment and the onsite shadowing reward candidates who can talk about a real customer or operations problem they worked through, which is what these projects give you.
What Is the Echo Global Logistics Application and Interview Process Like?
Echo publishes its hiring steps on its early careers page:
1. Online application on Workday. Echo says you may apply to multiple jobs and locations, and track your status through a careers-site account.
2. Recruiter phone interview.
3. A 15 to 20 minute assessment.
4. Onsite manager interview at Chicago headquarters, including shadowing the role you applied for.
Ignore duplicate listings on echo.com pages that clone Chicago roles into suburbs with a 28-day "valid through" date; apply through Workday.
What People on Reddit Say
There are no intern-specific Echo threads on Reddit; these come from people who have worked at or with Echo full-time.
Someone nearly 10 years into a customer-side role at Echo's Chicago headquarters described a good overall experience with peaks and valleys, and others who ship with Echo said they had no complaints.
One commenter said life on Echo's sales floor is a grind with cold-call metrics until you establish your accounts, and that managed transportation is calmer but depends on the account you're assigned.
A former Echo carrier sales rep said they liked the job and were good at it, but after training the commission on each load and the commute to Chicago didn't add up to enough money for the stress.
How Do You Stand Out for an Echo Global Logistics Internship?
First, check the 24 May 2027 start before you apply. Every req makes it a condition, and a clash with exams or a study-abroad term ends the conversation. Second, prepare for the onsite shadow. You'll sit with the team you applied to, so for a sales role, show you can research a shipper and explain why freight brokerage solves its problem. Third, apply to more than one role and city; Echo says you can, and the sales seats are spread across five metros. Echo doesn't publish a return-offer rate, only that the internship carries potential for full-time employment and that Route 27 offers a fast track for new graduates.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Echo Global Logistics internship?
No. Summer 2026 internships are over, and Echo is hiring for summer 2027 now. On 3 October 2026, 10 summer-2027 roles were open in sales, Route 27 and Roadtex operations. The Accounting, FP&A, HR and Marketing internships had already closed, so apply quickly if a role fits.
When does the Echo Global Logistics summer 2027 internship start?
On 24 May 2027. Every req requires interns to start that day and complete the entire 10-week program, so check your exam and study-abroad calendar before applying. Applications opened between 2 and 22 September 2026 and are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Are Echo internship applications still open?
Partly. Sales, Route 27 and Roadtex roles were open on 3 October 2026 with no stated deadline. The four corporate internships (Accounting, FP&A, HR and Marketing) closed about a month after posting. Echo recruits for the following summer each fall, so those tracks should return around September 2027.
How much do Echo interns make?
Echo's Chicago intern postings list $35,223 to $50,166 on an annualized basis, roughly $16.90 to $24.10 an hour on a 40-hour week. Reqs for Detroit, Kansas City, Dallas, Nashville and the Roadtex sites don't list pay, and Echo doesn't provide relocation help.
Do I need a specific major or GPA for an Echo internship?
Not for the sales roles, which state no major or GPA requirement but ask for a rising senior with a semester left. The Route 27 intern needs a 2028 supply chain graduate, and the Roadtex Process Engineer needs supply chain, industrial or mechanical engineering. The closed corporate roles had GPA bars.
What is the Echo internship interview process?
Apply online, then complete a recruiter phone interview and a 15 to 20 minute assessment. The final step is an onsite interview with the hiring manager at Echo's Chicago headquarters, which includes shadowing the role. You can apply to more than one role and location.
Where are Echo Global Logistics internships located?
Most are in Chicago, Echo's headquarters, with client sales seats in Troy, Michigan and Overland Park, Kansas, and sales development seats in Dallas and Nashville. Roadtex operations interns work in Greenfield, Indiana and Woodridge, Illinois. Most roles are hybrid with three or four office days.
Is Echo Global Logistics the same as EchoStar?
No. Echo Global Logistics is a Chicago freight brokerage and managed transportation company that owns Roadtex. EchoStar is a satellite and telecommunications company with its own, separate internship program. Search for Echo Global Logistics or Echo Trailblazers to find the right postings.
Echo's sales and Roadtex seats for summer 2027 are still open. Apply this week, then add a remote Externship so you have a real customer or operations project to talk through on the onsite shadow.
