Last updated: October 2026

DC Advisory's main Summer Analyst wave opens each January, about 16 months before interns start in May of the following year. So the main wave for summer 2027 is over, and applications for summer 2028 are expected around January 2027. In plain words: most undergraduates apply in January 2027 as sophomores and intern in summer 2028.

Two doors are still open for summer 2027 on the firm's job board. A 2027 Investment Banking Summer Analyst role in Washington, D.C. was posted on September 18, 2026 for students who'll be rising seniors that summer, which means current juniors. The 2027 Investment Banking Summer Associate role for MBA students was posted on October 8, 2026 across New York, Washington, San Francisco and Chicago. Both were live when we checked on October 12, 2026, and neither states a deadline. This page covers DC Advisory's US business only.

What Is a DC Advisory Internship?

A DC Advisory internship is a 10-week summer program at DC Advisory, the corporate finance advisory business of Daiwa Securities Group. Undergraduates join as Summer Analysts and MBA students join as Summer Associates, working with deal teams on mergers and acquisitions and capital advisory for mid-sized companies. The firm's postings describe "over 750 professionals in 24 locations throughout Asia, Europe, and the US" and "11 industry-focused teams." According to the US brochure, summer interns are "flown to our New York office for one week of dedicated training" and then return to their own offices "to begin working on live engagements with deal teams." Vault ranks the firm #11 on its Banking 25 for 2026. DC Advisory doesn't publish a class size or a return-offer rate, and its UK and European offices run separate programs that this page doesn't cover.

When Do DC Advisory Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

The analyst calendar has repeated for two cycles. DC Advisory's US brochure said applications for the summer 2026 class "open in January 2025," and the recruiting tracker Adventis records the first summer 2027 posting in January 2026 (third-party). A Built In copy of the Washington, D.C. listing for summer 2027 came down on March 11, 2026, so that wave stayed up roughly two months. On that pattern, applications for summer 2028 are expected around January 2027, about 16 months before a May 2028 start. The two postings open today sit outside the wave: the Washington, D.C. role for summer 2027 was re-posted on September 18, 2026, which looks like one office filling remaining seats, and the MBA Summer Associate role for summer 2027 was posted on October 8, 2026, about 7 months ahead.

Two summer 2027 postings are open: the Washington, D.C. Summer Analyst role (for current juniors) and the MBA Summer Associate role. The main summer 2027 analyst wave has closed, and summer 2028 analyst applications aren't open yet.

Sophomores: this is the window to build proof before January. The Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling Externship or the HP Tech Ventures Deal Sourcing & Startup Analysis Externship gives you a finished project to bring to coffee chats.

Prepare for the summer 2028 wave: resume, accounting basics and a short list of sectors. Check your school's recruiting portal, since one candidate reported interviewing in December 2025 after a school resume drop for summer 2027.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

DC Advisory tells you in its own brochure that it's rolling: "Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis and will be carried out via Zoom." Neither posting open today states a deadline. Two details from the last cycle show how early things move. The January 2026 wave for summer 2027 stayed up only about two months. And on Wall Street Oasis, a San Francisco candidate reports interviewing in December 2025 after a resume drop through their school, before the public posting date a tracker recorded (community-reported). So for summer 2028, watch your school's portal from late fall 2026 and apply the week the January 2027 posting appears. If you're a junior eyeing the Washington, D.C. role, it has been open since September 18, so apply now.

Which DC Advisory Internship Programs Should You Target?

DC Advisory US has two student programs, and each track sits at a different point in its calendar. Status is as of October 12, 2026.

All US roles are posted on the DC Advisory job board. The Washington, D.C. posting says analysts there typically work on aerospace, defense and government services, education and technology deals.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

The live postings say little about requirements, so read these carefully:

• Summer Analyst: "Qualified candidates are rising college seniors during the summer program duration." For summer 2027 that's current juniors; for summer 2028, current sophomores.

• Summer Associate: the MBA track. Vault's survey describes a separate MBA interview process.

• Major: not restricted in the postings. The brochure profiles analysts who studied philosophy, politics and economics, and financial economics.

• Work authorization: neither posting states a sponsorship policy. Ask the recruiter before assuming.

• Work model: both live postings are marked hybrid.

• Entity: these rules are for DC Advisory US. The UK and European offices recruit separately.

Is There a GPA Cutoff at DC Advisory?

The postings don't state one. Vault's internship profile for the firm lists a minimum GPA band of 3.50 to 3.99, but that profile is undated and the figure is Vault's field, not a line from DC Advisory. Treat it as a sign that grades matter, not as a published floor. Because bankers run much of the recruiting themselves, a strong coffee chat can carry real weight.

Could You Get In at DC Advisory? Compare Your Profile

Based on 543 investment banking summer analysts at top investment banks from the classes of 2025 and 2026 (public LinkedIn profiles, aggregated). Six questions, under a minute.

Question 1 of 6

Which summer are you applying for?

Recruiting timelines differ by class year, so we compare you with the right group.

Question 2 of 6

Which group is your school closest to?

Firms recruit on campus in tiers. We match you against admits from schools like yours.

Question 3 of 6

Is your major finance, economics, accounting or business?

Math and statistics count too. Major is not a hard filter, but it shifts how much your coursework has to prove.

Question 4 of 6

How many internships, externships or research positions have you held so far?

Count anything with a real employer, mentor or principal investigator attached. Retail and food service do not count.

Question 5 of 6

Has any of that experience been finance-related?

Banking, PE or VC, corporate finance, wealth management, equity research, accounting or consulting. Any size of firm counts.

Question 6 of 6

Are you in a finance club, investment fund or case competition team?

Campus clubs are how most admits get their first deal and modelling reps.

What Skills Does DC Advisory Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Both live postings carry the same duties list, so we quote it instead of counting. Modeling and analysis: summer analysts "Build and maintain financial models" and "Run analyses and test strategic options available to clients." Deal materials and research: they "Prepare pitch materials, CIMs, board decks and management presentations," "Cover industry trends" and "Support financial and industry due diligence." AI tools: the posting asks interns to use the "AI tools Claude and Rogo both innovatively and responsibly to boost performance and streamline workflows." That's unusually specific for a banking posting. Interview questions reported to Vault are basic: a $100 equipment purchase through the three statements, and a sell-side process from pitch to close.

Note: No skills chart on this page: DC Advisory's two live student postings (Washington, D.C. Summer Analyst and Summer Associate, read October 12, 2026) share one duties list, so a count would only repeat it. The skills above are quoted from that list.

What Is the DC Advisory Application and Interview Process Like?

The brochure, Vault's survey and candidate reports on Wall Street Oasis (community-reported) describe the same shape:

1. Apply. Use the job board posting, or your school's resume drop where one exists.

2. Coffee chats. The brochure says candidates are "invited to meet with bankers via Zoom" for an informal chat. Vault's survey describes two coffee chats at the summer analyst level.

3. Technical interview. Reported questions are basic accounting, such as depreciation through the statements, plus fit questions like "why DC."

4. Superday. Vault's survey describes three to four interviews. One San Francisco candidate reported six video interviews across three days, from associate to managing director.

5. Offer. No timeline is published. Interviews are rolling, so earlier applicants hear earlier.

Our superday interview guide covers how to handle several interviews in a row.

What Candidates and Interns Say on Wall Street Oasis and Vault

Reddit has no usable first-hand threads on DC Advisory's US internship, so these cards use dated Wall Street Oasis interview reports and Vault's intern survey.

A San Francisco summer analyst candidate described a resume drop through their school, a first and second round in the same week, and then a superday of six video interviews spread over three days, from associate to MD. They accepted an offer.

Interns told Vault they worked on live deals and generally had weekends free, though hours could run long. Some said there was less modeling than expected and that the summer project felt unnecessary next to real deal work.

How Do You Stand Out for a DC Advisory Internship?

Three moves. First, know which door is yours. Sophomores are aiming at the January 2027 wave for summer 2028. Juniors who can work in Washington, D.C. and MBA students have a summer 2027 posting open now. Second, treat every coffee chat as an interview. Vault's survey says "A lot of recruiting is managed internally by bankers," so the person you chat with may be deciding. Reply quickly and come with questions about their sector. Third, pick sectors and show you can use AI tools with care. The firm staffs by 11 industry teams, and its posting names Claude and Rogo, so be ready to explain how you'd check an AI-assisted analysis before a client sees it. Interns on Vault warn against expecting 40-hour weeks. DC Advisory publishes no applicant count, class size or conversion rate.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2027 DC Advisory internship?

Partly. The main Summer Analyst wave for summer 2027 closed in early 2026. Two summer 2027 postings were open on October 12, 2026: a Summer Analyst role in Washington, D.C. for rising seniors, and the Summer Associate role for MBA students. Everyone else should plan for summer 2028, with applications expected around January 2027.

When do DC Advisory summer analyst applications open for summer 2028?

Around January 2027, based on the last two cycles. The firm's US brochure said applications for summer 2026 opened in January 2025, and a recruiting tracker dates the first summer 2027 posting to January 2026. That's about 16 months before the May start. Watch the job board and your school portal from December 2026.

Does DC Advisory recruit on a rolling basis?

Yes. The firm's US brochure says interviews "will be conducted on a rolling basis and will be carried out via Zoom," and neither posting open today states a deadline. Last cycle's main wave for summer 2027 stayed up about two months, so apply in the first week or two after a posting appears.

How much do DC Advisory summer analysts make?

The firm's January 2026 posting for the 2027 Summer Analyst role stated a base salary of $110,000 annually, prorated for the program, according to a copy on Built In. By our arithmetic that's about $2,115 a week before tax. The postings live today carry no pay line, and Summer Associate pay isn't published.

Who is eligible for the DC Advisory Summer Analyst program?

Rising college seniors during the summer of the program. For summer 2027 that means current juniors, and for summer 2028 it means current sophomores. The postings state no GPA floor, major or sponsorship policy. MBA students apply to the separate Summer Associate program instead, which is posted across four US offices.

What is the DC Advisory interview process like?

Expect coffee chats, one technical interview and a superday, mostly over Zoom. Vault's survey describes two coffee chats and a superday of three to four interviews; one candidate on Wall Street Oasis reported six video interviews over three days. Reported technical questions are basic accounting. The candidate accounts are community-reported, not official.

Do DC Advisory interns get return offers?

They can, depending on performance, but no rate is published. The US brochure says DC Advisory makes offers to interns at the end of the Summer Analyst program, "performance depending," to join as full-time analysts after graduation, and that they receive the offer before heading back to campus in the fall. Treat any percentage you see elsewhere as unverified.

How long is the DC Advisory internship and where is it based?

Ten weeks, starting in May. The US brochure says summer interns spend the first week training in New York and then return to their own office to work on live deals. US student roles have been posted for New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Chicago, and the current postings are marked hybrid.

DC Advisory's summer 2028 analyst applications are expected around January 2027, and two summer 2027 roles are open today. Use the weeks before January to finish a project you can walk a banker through: a remote Externship gives you modeling or diligence work to discuss in coffee chats.
