Last updated: October 2026

Chubb's summer 2027 internship season has started, but only one US door is open so far. On October 5, 2026, its job board listed exactly one US internship: Intern, Technology - June 2027, in Philadelphia and Jersey City, posted September 18 and paying $27 to $35 an hour. In plain words: you apply during 2026 (into early 2027), you intern in summer 2027.

The business side is still to come. Chubb's applicant system already holds at least nine June 2027 internship requisitions for underwriting, construction surety, risk consulting and its Brandywine division, but none was public on October 5. Expect them to post office by office from about October 2026 into early 2027. Every Chubb internship runs 8 weeks, June through July, asks for a 3.0 GPA and offers no visa sponsorship.

What Is a Chubb Internship?

A Chubb internship is a paid, 8-week summer program in Chubb's North America business, held June through July. Interns join one discipline, such as underwriting, risk consulting, actuarial or technology, and get business training, technical training and project work with an experienced team. Chubb Limited, listed on the NYSE as CB, has about 45,000 employees in 54 countries and territories, and on its own site calls itself the largest commercial lines insurer in the US and the top personal lines insurer for high-net-worth families. US interns are hired by Chubb entities such as ACE American Insurance Company and Westchester. Chubb says interns who complete the program may be considered for full-time roles, most often its two-year Chubb Associate Program or Technology Associate Program.

When Do Chubb Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Chubb posted its summer 2027 Technology internship on September 18, 2026, about eight and a half months before a June 2027 start. The business-track requisitions were created around early to mid September, the same timing as last cycle, when the New York underwriting requisition was created in September 2025. Last cycle's business postings stayed visible on job mirrors until late March or early April 2026, so applications for summer 2027 are expected from about October 2026 into early 2027, office by office. Treat that as an estimate: Chubb's first public posting date last year couldn't be recovered.

Applications for summer 2027 are open right now for the Technology internship (software, data and cybersecurity engineering) in Philadelphia and Jersey City. Underwriting and other business tracks aren't public yet.

Tech students: apply first. Alongside it, the Breaking Games SQL Database Architecture Externship or the Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense Externship gives you a finished project to discuss in interviews.

About October 2026 to early 2027EXPECTEDSHORT WINDOW — APPLY WEEK 1

Underwriting, surety, risk consulting, Brandywine and actuarial postings for summer 2027 are expected, each office on its own date. One Chubb posting this year came down within 17 days, so apply the week yours appears.

Interview days and offers. Past candidates describe panel interviews with several managers, and one student had an offer by December; last cycle's postings were still visible into early April.

Summer 2027

The 8-week program runs in June and July 2027. Interns who complete it may be considered for full-time roles, often the Chubb Associate Program or Technology Associate Program starting the following June.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Chubb doesn't publish deadlines, and none of its internship postings says "rolling" or "until filled." What its own system shows is that postings don't stay up long. A Chubb internship posted on May 22, 2026 was gone by June 8, after 17 days or less. The actuarial and tax internships created in August 2026 were mirrored on outside job sites and then withdrawn within about five to seven weeks. Each office posts its own requisition, so the business wave arrives in pieces rather than one big launch. The safe move is to check the board weekly from October and apply in the first week a posting for your track appears.

Which Chubb Internship Programs Should You Target?

Chubb runs one Technology internship and a set of business tracks under its North America Internship Program. Only Technology is open today.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Chubb's program FAQ and its US internship requisitions set these rules:

• Degree: you must be pursuing a bachelor's degree; Chubb says many majors are considered. The Technology internship wants computer science, data science or a related major.

• Class year: Technology is for rising seniors. The business requisitions name no class year, but say interns may return as full-time employees or future interns depending on graduation date.

• GPA: 3.0 or above, listed as required. The actuarial internship prefers 3.5 or higher and at least one passed actuarial exam.

• Work authorization: "Sponsorship, now or in the future, is not available for this role," on every US internship.

• Preferred: prior work experience (summer or part-time jobs count) and leadership experience from clubs, athletics or community service.

Is the 3.0 GPA a Hard Cutoff at Chubb?

Treat it as one. Chubb's program FAQ and 11 of its 12 US internship requisitions say a 3.0 is required. Only the Boston underwriting co-op softens it to "preferred." The actuarial track adds a 3.5 preference on top. If you're below 3.0, Chubb's own wording gives you no room, so put your effort into peers with softer screens.

Question 1 of 6

Which summer are you applying for?

Recruiting timelines differ by class year, so we compare you with the right group.

Which group is your school closest to?

Firms recruit on campus in tiers. We match you against admits from schools like yours.

What Skills Does Chubb Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Chubb's business requisitions are short and read alike. They prefer prior work experience and leadership experience on 10 of 12, and the underwriting and risk-consulting ones center on learning to evaluate risk: assembling account information, helping underwriters with risk reports, and seeing how Chubb's tools decide what it can cover. The actuarial requisition is the most technical, asking for calculus, probability and statistics, Excel and Access, and preferring SQL, R and Python. Technology interns work in software, data or cybersecurity engineering and are asked to build communication and problem-solving skills alongside technical ones.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Because Chubb's business postings ask mainly for experience and leadership, a finished project with a clear result is one of the few ways to stand apart on paper.

What Is the Chubb Application and Interview Process Like?

Chubb shows its hiring steps only as an image on its program page. Candidate reports fill in the rest:

1. Apply to the office's requisition. Each office and business unit posts its own; apply on Chubb's job board and join the Talent Network.

2. Screening. Candidates describe a recruiter conversation before any interview day.

3. Interview day or panel. A 2020 underwriting-intern candidate described a day with four interviewers: HR, a VP, an AVP and a team leader.

4. Offer. Offers can come early: one student had a summer internship offer by December. Last cycle's postings stayed visible into early April.

5. Program. Eight weeks in June and July with business and technical training.

What Students on Reddit Say

Reddit threads about Chubb internships are few and mostly older, so each card shows its year.

A student invited to a Chubb underwriting-intern interview day with four interviewers got advice to learn deductibles, coinsurance, replacement cost versus actual cash value and the main coverage lines, and to read Chubb's annual report for its loss and combined ratios.

An actuarial student said they had accepted a Chubb summer internship back in December, a sign that offers can go out before winter break. That summer's program was later cancelled during the 2020 pandemic.

A current Chubb actuarial intern said the role gave exposure to both pricing and reserving, and advised candidates to brush up on technical and data skills such as VBA.

How Do You Stand Out for a Chubb Internship?

Three moves. First, apply to the unit, not just the brand. Major Accounts (large commercial clients), Westchester (excess and surplus lines), Personal Risk Services (high-value homes), surety and Brandywine (run-off claims) are different businesses, so say why you want that one. Second, show the two things the postings prefer: a job you held, even part-time or summer work, and a leadership role. Third, arrive knowing coverage basics. Past candidates were told to learn deductibles, coinsurance and replacement cost and to read Chubb's annual report before the interview day. Actuarial applicants should bring a passed exam. Chubb publishes no applicant count or conversion rate.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Chubb internship?

No. The summer 2026 program ran in June and July 2026, and its requisitions are closed. Chubb is hiring for summer 2027 now: the Technology internship has been open since September 18, 2026, and underwriting and other business tracks are expected to post office by office from about October 2026 into early 2027.

When do Chubb internship applications open for summer 2027?

The Technology internship opened September 18, 2026. Requisitions for underwriting, surety, risk consulting, Brandywine and actuarial internships already exist in Chubb's system but weren't public on October 5, 2026. Expect them from about October 2026 into early 2027, each office on its own date, and apply the week yours posts.

Is the Chubb GPA requirement strict?

Yes. Chubb's program FAQ and 11 of its 12 US internship requisitions say a 3.0 cumulative GPA is required. The actuarial internship also prefers 3.5 or higher and at least one passed actuarial exam. Only the Boston underwriting co-op lists 3.0 as a preference rather than a requirement.

Does Chubb sponsor visas for interns?

No. Every US Chubb internship requisition says sponsorship, now or in the future, isn't available, and applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment-based sponsorship. That rules out students who would need CPT, OPT or H-1B support from Chubb, so check this before you apply.

How much do Chubb interns make?

Chubb's own ranges for its 2026 to 2027 internships are $27 to $35 an hour for Technology, $24 to $28 for actuarial, and $18 to $26 for underwriting, risk consulting and the underwriting co-op. Some business requisitions list no rate, and every range may be adjusted for the office's location.

How long is the Chubb internship?

Eight weeks. Chubb's program FAQ says the internship is held during the summer, typically June through July, and every summer 2027 requisition says the program is planned to start in June 2027. Interns get business training and technical training in their discipline during those eight weeks.

Does a Chubb internship lead to a full-time offer?

It can. Chubb says interns who complete the program may be considered for full-time roles, and some return as interns depending on graduation date. It doesn't publish a conversion rate. The usual next step is the two-year Chubb Associate Program or, for tech interns, the Technology Associate Program.

Who can apply to the Chubb Technology internship?

Rising seniors pursuing a bachelor's in computer science, data science or a related field with at least a 3.0 GPA and US work authorization that needs no sponsorship. Interns work in software, data or cybersecurity engineering in Philadelphia or Jersey City for 8 weeks, at $27 to $35 an hour.

Tech students can apply to Chubb today; business students should watch for their office's posting this fall. Either way, a remote Externship gives you a finished analysis or data project to bring to a Chubb interview day.
