Chicago Fire FC, the MLS club, doesn't run a named intern class. It posts one internship at a time on TeamWork Online, usually about a month before the start, and the three 2026 postings we could read paid $19, $17.00 and $16.60 an hour. On 17 October 2026 the club's board listed five jobs and no internship. Here's the cycle in plain words: 2027-season internships are expected to post between December 2026 and February 2027, based on Events and Community Relations roles that went up in January 2026, and they run through the 2027 season. There is no summer class, so this page uses the club's season-long and spring-to-summer terms instead.

The Fire's roles ask for event logistics, community work and data analysis, so a finished project helps while nothing is open. Externships are short, remote programs where you complete a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks. The Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy Externship fits the Data Analyst role, and the Beats by Dre Creative Advertising Strategy Externship fits fan engagement and partnership activations. What Is a Chicago Fire FC Internship?
A Chicago Fire FC internship is a single-role, part-time position with the MLS club's front office in Chicago, posted on TeamWork Online with a start date one to three months out. The club has no intern class, rotation or speaker series that we could find. Roles we saw across 2024 to 2026 include Events, Community Relations (the Chicago Fire Foundation), Match Presentation & Entertainment, Data Analyst, Data Scientist and Education. The club, founded in 1997, trains at the Endeavor Health Performance Center and plans a new downtown stadium. Not internships: Soccer in the Community seasonal coaches, 50-50 raffle sellers and site coordinators for the Chicagoland Indoor Soccer League, which are part-time jobs on the same board.

When Do Chicago Fire FC Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
The Fire posts one internship at a time, so there is no single opening date. The 2026 pattern from the club's own TeamWork postings: Events posted around 14 January 2026 for a February start, Community Relations around 28 January for a March start, and Data Analyst around 8 May. A Match Presentation & Entertainment internship was posted in December 2024. That's a lead time of about one month for the January roles. These dates come from the age stamps on archived copies of the postings, so treat them as accurate to within a day, and treat the 2027 timing as an expectation from three postings.
Nothing is open. The Fire's board listed five jobs on 17 October 2026 and none was an internship; an Education Intern posting is already closed. Turn on TeamWork alerts for the Chicago Fire board today.
Pick one track and tailor your résumé to it: events logistics, community and nonprofit work, or football analytics. Postings ask for nights, weekends and home matches, so say you can work them.
2027-season internships such as Events and Community Relations are expected to post one by one, about a month before their start. Apply the week a role appears. Last cycle's Events and Community Relations roles went up in mid and late January.
A Data Analyst internship is expected, based on the one posted around 8 May 2026. Low confidence: one posting.
The 2026 roles ran February to November (Events) and March to August (Community Relations). Expect 2027 roles to follow the MLS season rather than a summer calendar.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
The Fire posts on a rolling basis, one role at a time. Each posting is separate, so the club can fill and close a role without a published deadline, and the Education Intern posting was already closed by the time we checked. We can't say how long any role stayed open, because the club doesn't publish closing dates. A TeamWork alert is the best protection: it tells you the day a role appears, and the first week is when you want to be in the pile.
Which Chicago Fire FC Internship Programs Should You Target?
These are the internships the Fire has posted in the past two years. None is open now, so treat the list as a map of what to expect.
| Role | Focus | Term and pay | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Events Intern | Matchday and non-matchday events, partner activations, venue setup, run-of-show documents and recaps | Feb to Nov 2026; $19.00 an hour, part-time | Event experience, budget trackers, Spanish preferred |
| Community Relations / Foundation Intern | 50-50 raffle, P.L.A.Y.S. program game-day logistics, fundraisers, grant-writing support | Mar to Aug 2026; $17.00 an hour | Community service experience, Microsoft Office |
| Data Analyst Intern | Metrics, predictive models and tooling for football operations with the analytics department | Posted May 2026; $16.60 an hour, part-time | R or Python, SQL, statistics |
| Match Presentation & Entertainment Intern | Matchday presentation, from pre-season to the end of the season | 2024 posting; pay not shown in the copy we read | ShoFlo scripting, Adobe Creative Suite |
All four come from the club's own postings on TeamWork Online. The club also listed a Data Scientist Intern and an Education Intern, but we couldn't read their terms.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
There is no one rule, because each role has its own posting. What the three 2026 postings we read ask for:
• Events: proven event planning and execution experience, preferably a bachelor's (pursuing or finished) in event management, hospitality, marketing or related, Spanish a plus, and reliable transportation.
• Community Relations: community service experience, Microsoft Office and knowledge of Chicagoland.
• Data Analyst: enrolled in a quantitative bachelor's or master's program in math, data science, statistics or economics, with R or Python, SQL and football understanding.
• All roles: availability for nights, weekends and holidays, including home matches.
• Work authorization: applications ask whether you're legally authorized to work in the United States and whether you'll need sponsorship, now or in future.
• GPA and academic credit: not stated in the postings we read.

Do You Need to Be a Current Student?
Not necessarily. The Events posting says pursuing or having completed a related bachelor's degree, so graduates qualify, while the Data Analyst posting asks for current enrollment. The club doesn't publish a class-year rule, so read each posting. The application also asks whether you're at least 18.
What Skills Does Chicago Fire FC Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Three postings are too few to chart, so here is what they ask for. Events: logistics, budget and inventory trackers, run-of-show documents and sponsor activations. Community Relations: Microsoft Office, fundraising support and grant writing. Data Analyst: R or Python, SQL, statistical modeling and presenting to stakeholders. Across all of them: nights, weekends, holidays and every home match.
Note: We don't show a skills bar chart for Chicago Fire FC: no internship posting was open on 17 October 2026, and only three 2026 postings could be read, which is too few to count honestly. The skills above come from a full read of those three.
How Is Demand for Operations Interns Moving Right Now?

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each skill below comes from a real Fire posting and maps to a remote Externship you can finish before the next role appears.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| SQL and statistical analysis | Data Analyst Intern: metrics, predictive models, R or Python, SQL | Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy |
| Data tooling and analytics pipelines | Data Analyst Intern: building tooling for football operations | TruBridge Healthcare Data Analytics |
| Fan engagement and activations | Events Intern: partnership meetings, sponsor activations, fan engagement | Beats by Dre Creative Advertising Strategy |
| Budget tracking | Events Intern: financial, budget and inventory trackers | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis |
Extern's cohorts aren't sports-specific, so the point is the skill, not the subject. A finished deliverable still shows you can do the analysis or planning the posting describes.
What Is the Chicago Fire FC Application and Interview Process Like?
The Fire doesn't publish an interview format. This is what the postings show:
1. Set up TeamWork. Create a free profile and turn on job alerts for the Chicago Fire board.
2. Apply to one role. Each posting has its own Apply Now, with work-authorization and sponsorship questions.
3. Match the brief. Events wants event experience; the Data Analyst posting wants R or Python and SQL.
4. Interview. Steps aren't published.
5. Start. Dates are set per role: February or March for the 2026 Events and Community roles.
The club's careers page has benefits and values but no internship text, so the postings are the only source.
What the Community Says
We found no first-hand Chicago Fire intern accounts on Reddit. The threads that came up were bot reposts of the club's own postings or generic MLS advice, so there are no cards here.
How Do You Stand Out for a Chicago Fire FC Internship?
Three moves. First, be ready before the posting exists. Roles go up one at a time and the 2026 Events and Community Relations internships posted in January, so have your alert on and your résumé tailored to one track by December. Second, match the brief. Events wants proven event planning, Community Relations wants service experience, and the Data Analyst role wants R or Python and SQL, so lead with that. Third, say you can work home matches, nights and weekends, because every posting asks. The Fire doesn't publish an applicant count or a conversion rate, so treat the internship as a way in and ask about full-time paths once you're there.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Chicago Fire FC internship?
No. The Fire has no named summer class, and none of its internships is open now: its TeamWork board listed five jobs and no internship on 17 October 2026. Roles for the 2027 season are expected to post one at a time between December 2026 and February 2027.
Is any Chicago Fire FC internship open right now?
No. On 17 October 2026 the Fire's TeamWork board showed five postings: a digital content director, a senior business analytics manager, a partnership marketing manager, a site coordinator and seasonal coaches. None was an internship, and an Education Intern posting had already closed.
When will 2027 Chicago Fire FC internships be posted?
Expect December 2026 to February 2027 for 2027-season roles. The Events internship went up around 14 January 2026 and Community Relations around 28 January, each about a month before it started. Confidence is low to medium because it rests on three postings.
How much do Chicago Fire FC interns make?
In the 2026 postings we read, Events paid $19.00 an hour, Community Relations $17.00 and Data Analyst $16.60, all hourly and part-time. Those figures come from the club's own TeamWork postings, not job aggregators. Pay for 2027 roles isn't published until they post.
Who can apply for a Chicago Fire FC internship?
It depends on the posting. Events prefers a bachelor's in a related field, pursuing or finished; Data Analyst wants a current quantitative bachelor's or master's student. Every application asks about US work authorization and sponsorship, and the data posting asks if you're at least 18.
Is Chicago Fire FC the same as the Chicago Fire TV show?
No. Chicago Fire FC is the MLS soccer club that plays in Chicago. The TV show Chicago Fire is a separate NBC drama, and its crew hiring has nothing to do with the club's internships, which are posted on the Fire's own TeamWork Online board.
What roles has Chicago Fire FC hired interns for?
Events, Community Relations at the Chicago Fire Foundation, Match Presentation & Entertainment, Data Analyst, Data Scientist and Education, all posted individually between 2024 and 2026. The club has no intern class or rotation, so each role has its own start date, hours and brief.
Do Chicago Fire FC interns get full-time offers?
The Fire doesn't publish a conversion rate or class size, and its postings only describe part-time internships. Treat the internship as a way to meet the staff and learn how the club works, and ask about full-time paths once you're inside rather than counting on an offer.
No Fire internship is open today, but 2027-season roles are expected from about December. Set your TeamWork alert now, and if you want a finished project to bring to the application, a remote Externship takes about 5 to 10 hours a week.
