Last updated: October 2026
Chemours had five internship and co-op postings for 2027 starts on its own Workday board on October 26, 2026. Three are Spring 2027 roles (a chemical engineering intern in Newark, Delaware, a chemical engineering co-op in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and a data visualization analyst intern), one is an AI and data science internship that hosts one to three interns at all times, and one is a Mine Planning Geologist Summer Intern. None of the postings states a pay rate. In plain words: for the spring cohort you apply during fall 2026 and intern from January to May 2027, and for summer 2027 only the geologist role is posted so far.
Quick Facts
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Where to apply | Chemours' Workday board. chemours.com has no student or internship page, so the postings themselves are the program; the careers page links to the board |
| Application window (2027–28) | Open now. Spring 2027 (January to May): Fayetteville co-op posted July 31, Newark intern October 6, data visualization intern October 22, 2026. AI and data science intern: posted September 25, rolling. Summer: Mine Planning Geologist posted October 12, 2026, with no year named in the posting. Next spring wave: expected from about July 2027, low confidence |
| Rolling? | Only the AI and data science role says so ("rolling admissions"). The other postings state no close date, and earlier postings have come off the board without notice |
| Eligibility | Rising sophomore or above (data visualization), sophomore or above (Fayetteville co-op), junior or above (Newark). Chemical engineering or similar for plant roles; chemistry, computer science or related for data. A 3.0 GPA is preferred in three postings and a minimum for the AI role. Four of the five postings read in full say immigration sponsorship, including F-1 OPT and H-1B, isn't available |
| Duration | Spring roles: a 5-month assignment, January to May 2027, 40 hours a week. Fayetteville co-op: at least six months in total, and two or more terms may be required. AI and data science: at least six continuous months. Geologist: not stated |
| Compensation | Not published. Each posting lists "Competitive Compensation" and benefits, and says paid site holidays and temporary housing assistance apply to full-time internships in the Newark and data visualization postings. We left out figures that appear only on job-board listings |
| Return offers | Not published. The co-op's six-month commitment shapes how the co-op works, but Chemours gives no conversion rate |
| Locations | Newark, DE (lab); Fayetteville, NC (plant); Wilmington, DE or remote (data roles); Nahunta, GA and Starke, FL (mining) |
| # Programs | No named program. 5 live postings for 2027 starts among 160 openings, plus a Corpus Christi, TX co-op for Spring 2026 that is still listed and is stale |
The row that matters most: Spring 2027 roles are open now for a January start, and no posting states pay.
Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most often in 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. The Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics Externship practices the operations improvement thinking behind plant co-ops, and the SQL & Database Architecture with Breaking Games Externship builds the SQL and analysis skills behind the data roles. What Is a Chemours Internship?
A Chemours internship is a student placement posted directly on Chemours' Workday board, not a branded program: the company has no internship page, so each posting is its own role. Chemours is a Wilmington, Delaware chemistry company with plants and labs across the US. The live roles cover chemical engineering (a lab intern in Newark and a plant co-op in Fayetteville), data and AI work (remote or Wilmington), and mining (a geologist in Georgia and Florida). Chemours is a separate company from DuPont, which has its own guide. It doesn't publish a class size, an applicant count or a conversion rate.

When Do Chemours Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Chemours posts by cohort, and the nearest door is spring. The Spring 2027 postings were created between July 31 and October 22, 2026 for a January start, a lead of about 2.5 to 5 months. The AI and data science internship is rolling all year. For summer, the one posted role is the Mine Planning Geologist Summer Intern from October 12, 2026, and last year's summer geologist posting carried a September 3, 2025 posting date in its archived copy, about 9 months before a June start (our assumption, since the posting names no start date). Only one summer role is out so far, so the rest of the summer 2027 window is a low-confidence projection.
Applications are open. Five postings for 2027 starts were live on October 26, 2026: three for Spring 2027, one rolling AI and data science internship, and one summer geologist role. Chemours states no closing date on any of them.
Apply for the spring cohort. The Newark intern, Fayetteville co-op and data visualization intern all target a January to May 2027 assignment. Postings can come down without notice, so don't wait for December.
Spring 2027 assignments: five months at 40 hours a week. The Fayetteville co-op asks for at least six months in total, so plan on a second term.
One summer role is posted so far (Mine Planning Geologist, October 12). More summer roles are expected, but only one cycle of dates is archived, so treat that as low confidence.
Expected: the next spring wave, if the 2026 pattern repeats. This year's first spring posting went up July 31.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Chemours states no close date on its postings, so the argument for applying early comes from the board itself. Postings come down without notice: an earlier version of the data visualization role, posted as a Summer Intern and archived on September 17, 2026, is no longer listed, and a replacement went up on October 22 for a spring term. The AI and data science role is the exception, since it hosts interns all year. For the January cohort, apply now rather than in December, and read each posting's term before you do, because the board also still carries a Corpus Christi co-op for Spring 2026.
Which Chemours Internship Programs Should You Target?
Chemours has no named internship program, so the table lists the live postings for 2027 starts. They span chemical engineering, data and mining.
| Program | Focus | Duration | Key details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chemical Engineer Spring Intern (Newark, DE) | Ore Technology team: titanium technologies lab work, process development and experiments | 5 months, Jan to May 2027, 40 hrs/week | Junior or above, chemical engineering; 3.0 GPA preferred; pay not published |
| Chemical Engineer Spring Co-op (Fayetteville, NC) | Manufacturing Technology: improvement projects, troubleshooting, process safety management | Preferred first term Jan to May 2027; six months total | Sophomore or above, chemical engineering; 3.0 GPA preferred |
| Data Visualization Analyst Spring Intern (remote or Wilmington, DE) | Digital & Data Analytics: validate AI model output on chemistry sources, Power BI dashboards, Azure applications | 5 months, Jan to May 2027, 40 hrs/week | Rising sophomore or above; chemical engineering, chemistry, computer science or related |
| AI & Data Science Intern (Wilmington, DE or remote) | Predictive models and GenAI solutions across R&D, finance, manufacturing, legal and safety | At least 6 continuous months, rolling | 3.0 minimum GPA; Python, Azure; not enrolled in coursework at the same time |
| Mine Planning Geologist Summer Intern (Nahunta, GA or Starke, FL) | Rotations through heavy mineral sand mining and processing departments, plus improvement projects | Summer; year and length not stated | Posting is short and lists no eligibility rules |
Browse everything on Chemours' Workday board. The data visualization posting is titled Spring Intern, but its body still says Summer Intern; the assignment term it states is January to May 2027.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Requirements differ by posting. These come from the five live postings, read on October 26, 2026.
• Class year: rising sophomore or above for data visualization, sophomore or above for the Fayetteville co-op, junior or above for the Newark intern. The AI and data science and geologist postings name no year.
• Major: chemical engineering or similar for the plant roles. Chemical engineering, chemistry, computer science or related for data visualization. The geologist posting names none.
• GPA: 3.0 or above is preferred for Newark, Fayetteville and data visualization, and the AI and data science posting sets a 3.0 minimum.
• Work authorization: four of the five postings say immigration sponsorship, including H-1B, F-1 OPT and TN, isn't currently available. The geologist posting doesn't say.
• Other: the AI and data science intern must not be enrolled in coursework at the same time.

Is the 3.0 GPA a Hard Cutoff?
Only for the AI and data science role, which sets a 3.0 minimum. For Newark, Fayetteville and data visualization it's listed as preferred, and Chemours' postings also say candidates who don't meet every requirement are encouraged to apply. Class year is firmer: the postings state it as required.
What Skills Does Chemours Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Five postings across four functions are too different to rank, so we describe each. The plant roles want chemical engineering fundamentals: the Newark posting prefers reaction engineering, thermodynamics, titration, filtration and distillation, and its duties include running lab-scale reactors, filters and pumps, analyzing data and process safety reviews. The Fayetteville co-op stresses improvement projects and process safety management, and asks for Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The data roles ask for Power BI, Azure and Fabric, and the AI role asks for Python with pandas and scikit-learn.
Note: Five postings across four unrelated functions are too few and too different for a skill chart, which would overstate any single skill. Source: Chemours' Workday board, 26 October 2026.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each skill below maps to a remote Externship you can finish while the postings are open.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Process improvement and operations | Fayetteville co-op: improvement and expansion projects, troubleshooting, root cause analysis | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Data analysis and dashboards | Data Visualization Analyst: Power BI dashboards and Azure applications | SQL & Database Architecture with Breaking Games |
| Data science on technical content | AI & Data Science Intern: predictive models in Python on chemistry and operations data | ARCeH Data Analytics, Health Outcomes |
No open Externship teaches chemical engineering, lab technique or mining geology, so these build the data and operations side only. For the plant roles, your coursework and lab experience carry the application.
What Is the Chemours Application and Interview Process Like?
Chemours doesn't publish a student process, so this is what the postings show.
1. Find the role. Search Chemours' Workday board for intern and co-op titles. There is no separate student page.
2. Apply per posting. Each role has its own Workday page, and Chemours is an E-Verify employer.
3. Interview. Chemours publishes no format or stages for student roles.
4. Plan the term. Spring roles run January to May 2027, and the Fayetteville co-op asks for at least six months in total.
Chemours publishes no interview questions and no timing between steps.
What Students on Reddit Say
One first-hand thread is usable, and it dates from 2023 and concerns an environmental role, not engineering. It's a view of how students weigh the company, not of the 2027 process.
A student who had declined a Chemours environmental scientist internship over the company's environmental reputation asked whether that was a mistake. Most replies said to take it, because the sampling and regulatory skills transfer to environmental consulting, and one commenter who had consulted on Chemours projects called the people knowledgeable and the work proactive.
How Do You Stand Out for a Chemours Internship?
First, match the term. Spring roles want a January start, and the co-op asks for at least six months, so say plainly that you can commit to the second term. Second, show the hands-on side of the role you're applying for: the Newark posting prefers experience with chemicals and building laboratory setups, and the Fayetteville co-op values projects and organizations beyond the classroom. Third, if you're applying for data roles, bring a dashboard or model you built. Chemours doesn't publish a class size, applicant counts or a conversion rate.
