Bayer's US student board listed 53 internships and co-ops on October 3, 2026, down from 71 on September 28. About 20 roles came down in five days, so this cycle is already moving. This guide covers Bayer's US programs only (the same board also lists roles in Germany, Poland and India). In plain words: you apply during 2026, you intern in summer 2027. The co-op door is even closer: Bayer's spring 2027 co-op cohort starts January 11, 2027.

Bayer's US Students and New Graduates page says applications open in mid-August and "the majority of offers" go out by the end of December. Most students picture the New Jersey pharma headquarters, but the biggest block of roles sits in Crop Science (24 of 53), with 13 at the Chesterfield, Missouri research campus outside St. Louis.

Read the window row by cohort: summer internships and both 2027 co-op cohorts are open now, and Bayer aims to make most offers by the end of December.

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, usually in about 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. The Arceh Children's Environmental Health Analytics Externship builds the data analysis that Bayer's genomics and phenotyping co-ops ask for, and the Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics Externship fits the supply chain and manufacturing roles. What Is a Bayer Internship?

A Bayer internship is a paid, 12 to 15 week summer placement (May or June to August) in one of Bayer's US divisions, and a Bayer co-op is a full-time semester on the same teams. Bayer runs three cohorts a year: spring co-ops, fall co-ops and summer internships, and every posting names the one it feeds. Bayer U.S. is headquartered in Whippany, New Jersey, but the student roles spread across Crop Science research, seed and plant sites, Consumer Health labs and plants, and the Pharmaceuticals radiology engineering center in Indianola, Pennsylvania. Interns get a primary mentor, real project work and an end-of-program presentation, according to Bayer's internship experience article. One Bayer detail to know before you apply: the company's mission line, "Health for all, Hunger for none," maps straight onto its divisions, and recruiters expect you to say which one you want.

When Do Bayer Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Bayer's students page describes a cycle that "typically runs August-December": applications go up in mid-August and most offers are made by the end of December. Its internship experience article adds that offers can run to mid-March. The US roles live today were created between July 21 and September 29, 2026, and the board shrank from 71 to 53 roles between September 28 and October 3. For summer 2027 the practical deadline is November to December 2026, not the March date printed on the postings. Applications for summer 2028 are expected to open in mid-August 2027.

Now · early October 2026YOU ARE HERE

Applications are open right now for summer 2027 internships and for the spring and fall 2027 co-ops: 53 US roles on October 3. About 20 roles came down in the five days before that, including a Statistician Intern that was live on September 28. Apply to the roles you want this week.

Apply first. Alongside it, a finished project gives you something concrete for Bayer's skills test and panel interviews: the Arceh Environmental Health Analytics Externship for data and genomics roles, or the Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy Externship for supply chain and manufacturing.

Interviews for summer 2027 and both co-op cohorts. Bayer says the process may include phone screens, one-on-one and panel interviews, and a skills test. Keep checking the board: new roles were still being created in late September.

By end of December 2026ROLLING — APPLY WEEK 1

Bayer's stated target: the majority of offers for summer 2027 internships and 2027 co-ops are extended by the end of December 2026. Roles keep closing as they fill, so an application in October beats one in December.

January to March 2027EXPECTED

Spring 2027 co-ops start January 11, 2027. Remaining summer 2027 offers are expected through mid-March 2027, and most postings stay up until at least March 19, 2027, but by then most seats are taken.

Summer 2027

Summer internships run 12 to 15 weeks from May or June to August 2027, and fall co-ops start May 17 or June 14 and run to December 10, 2027. Strong interns move toward Bayer's new-graduate job starter roles; no conversion rate is published.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Bayer's evidence points to rolling closure, not a single cutoff. The board lost about 20 of 71 US student roles between September 28 and October 3, 2026, and the Statistician Intern used as a live check on September 28 had dropped out of the search index five days later. Bayer also says the majority of offers go out by the end of December, so a role that's open in October may be filled by November. The "available until at least March 19, 2027" line on most postings is a promise about how long the ad can stay up, not an application deadline. Treat any role you want as closing the week after you see it.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Bayer sets a short company-wide floor and leaves the rest to each posting:

• Enrollment: students in a full-time degree program at an accredited college or university who are at least 18, per Bayer's students page. Undergraduate (BA, BS) and graduate (MS, MBA, PhD) students are eligible.

• GPA: 9 of 53 live postings name a 3.0 (mostly engineering and regulatory co-ops, some as a preference), and the two Whippany sales analyst roles ask for 3.3. Most others state no GPA.

• Class standing: 9 postings, mostly engineering co-ops, ask for a completed sophomore year.

• Work authorization: the two Whippany sales analyst roles require eligibility to work in the US now and in the future; most other postings carry no sponsorship statement, so ask your recruiter.

• Role extras: field and sales roles ask for a valid driver's license and daily driving, and the Crop Science Sales Intern relocates to a territory for the summer.

Is the GPA a Hard Cutoff?

Only where the posting says "minimum." Some engineering co-ops list 3.0 as required, while others put it under preferred qualifications, and most Crop Science research and Consumer Health roles name no GPA at all. Read each posting: if it states no floor, lab hours, field experience or a relevant project carry the weight.

What Skills Does Bayer Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Across the 53 live US postings, Bayer asks for the same core first: clear communication, teamwork and the ability to work on your own. Three buckets sit on top of that. Research and data: 39 postings ask for data analysis or statistics, and the Chesterfield genomics co-ops add Python or R. Hands-on science and engineering: 32 mention lab, greenhouse or field work, and 21 name an engineering discipline. Operations and safety: 20 cite safety or quality compliance, which matters at the Luling, Muscatine and Myerstown plants.

What Is the Bayer Application and Interview Process Like?

Bayer's students page names the interview formats; the order below is the usual flow:

1. Apply on the Bayer student board. Filter by job type = student and the United States, then apply to each role and site separately. Ignore non-US roles in the same search.

2. Phone screen. A recruiter or hiring manager checks fit, availability for your cohort (summer, spring or fall) and willingness to relocate.

3. One-on-one and panel interviews. Expect questions about your lab, field or engineering work and how it connects to the division.

4. Skills test (some roles). Bayer says the process may include one; technical and data roles are the likeliest.

5. Offer. Most offers go out by the end of December; some arrive as late as mid-March.

Prepare two or three project stories in STAR format; our behavioral interview guide and panel interview tips cover both formats.

What Students on Reddit Say

Reddit has no first-hand accounts from US Bayer interns, so treat these three threads as context: two are older, and one is about an experienced hire.

A second-year student who accepted a Bayer quality control co-op asked whether the name helps a resume. Commenters agreed it's a large, respected employer that gives co-ops real work, and that a co-op between sophomore and junior year carries weight.

A St. Louis-area commenter called Bayer, then still Bayer/Monsanto, an excellent local employer and said it wouldn't hurt a software career in that region. Others in the thread debated the company's ethics record.

Recent candidates described long waits after a final interview, from five weeks to months. One reply noted that even after layoffs, Bayer still fills roles where there's a business need.

How Do You Stand Out for a Bayer Internship or Co-op?

Three moves, all doable this month. First, apply by division and site, not just by title. Two postings with the same title (the two Chesterfield Electrical Engineer Co-Ops, for example) can carry different pay ranges and GPA lines, so tailor each application to its team. Second, show you can handle a full semester. Co-ops run January to June or May/June to December at 40 hours a week, so state which cohort you can commit to and how it fits your degree plan. Third, bring one finished, data-backed project. 39 of the 53 postings ask for data analysis, and the skills test is where that shows. A lab, field or class project with a clear result travels across Crop Science, Consumer Health and Pharma. Bayer doesn't publish an applicant count or intern-to-hire rate, so early, specific applications are the lever you control.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Bayer internship?

No. Summer 2026 has already run. The open door is the 2027 cycle: on October 3, 2026 Bayer had 53 US summer 2027 internships and spring or fall 2027 co-ops live, and roles are closing as they fill. Bayer aims to make most offers by the end of December 2026.

When do Bayer internship applications open?

Bayer says applications open in mid-August, and this year's US student roles were created between late July and late September 2026. Most offers go out by the end of December, with a few into mid-March. Applications for summer 2028 are expected to open around mid-August 2027.

Are Bayer internships rolling?

Yes. Roles come down as they are filled: the US board dropped from 71 to 53 student roles between September 28 and October 3, 2026. The line saying a posting is available until at least March 19, 2027 is a minimum ad window, not a deadline, so apply early.

What GPA does Bayer require for internships?

There's no company-wide floor. Nine of the 53 live US postings name a 3.0, mostly engineering and regulatory co-ops, and two Whippany sales analyst roles ask for 3.3. Most Crop Science research and Consumer Health postings state no GPA, so read each posting before you apply.

What is the difference between a Bayer internship and a co-op?

A Bayer internship runs 12 to 15 weeks in summer, May or June to August 2027. A co-op is a full-time semester: spring runs January 11 to June 11, 2027, and fall runs from May 17 or June 14 to December 10, 2027. Each posting names its cohort.

How much do Bayer interns make?

Bayer's US postings list ranges from $20.75 to $58.50 without writing the unit; the figures read as hourly. Many Crop Science research and seed roles post $22.75 to $47.75, engineering roles mostly $24.00 to $45.50 or $24.00 to $43.25, and the Whippany sales analyst intern $20.75 to $29.50.

Where are Bayer's US internships located?

The largest cluster is around St. Louis, with 13 roles in Chesterfield and one in Creve Coeur, Missouri. Others sit in Whippany and Morristown, New Jersey; Indianola, Pittsburgh and Myerstown, Pennsylvania; California, Louisiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas and Massachusetts; two are residence-based.

What is the Bayer internship interview process?

Bayer says it may include phone screens, one-on-one and panel interviews, and a skills test. Expect questions on your lab, field, engineering or data work and on which cohort you can commit to. Most offers arrive by the end of December, and some candidates report long waits.

Bayer's 2027 roles are open now and closing as they fill. Apply this month, and use the wait to build proof: a remote Externship gives you a finished, documented project to walk through in Bayer's panel interview.
