Last updated: September 2026
BayCrest Partners ranks #9 on Vault's 2026 Best Financial Services Internships list, ahead of firms many times its size. The agency-only broker-dealer has about 100 professionals on the 42nd floor of 40 Wall Street, handles more than $1 trillion in fixed income notional value a year, and hosts roughly 24 to 30 summer interns who shadow live traders across equities, options, fixed income, and energy and commodities desks for seven weeks.
So how do you get in? Not through a portal. There's no ATS and no posted deadline; you email a resume and cover letter to careers@baycny.com, typically in early spring 2027 for a June 2027 start, and every Glassdoor interviewee reported arriving through an employee referral. This guide is about the summer 2027 cohort and the networking that precedes it.

BayCrest interns present daily market briefings, sit through Excel training, and shadow traders pricing fixed income and derivatives. The Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling Externship builds exactly that Excel-and-markets fluency before you're on the floor, and because BayCrest's merchant services arm acted as placement agent on two $1 billion deals in January 2026, the HP Tech Ventures Deal Sourcing & Startup Analysis Externship gives you a deal-analysis project to discuss when you ask about that side of the firm. Both are short remote Externships. Explore all Externships.
What Is a Baycrest Internship?
First, the name: this is BayCrest Partners, the New York broker-dealer, not Baycrest Health Sciences in Toronto. Bay Crest Partners, LLC was founded in 1993, clears through Merrill Lynch, and executes trades for institutional clients without taking proprietary positions, handling more than $600 billion in equities notional, over $1 trillion in fixed income notional, and 50-plus million options contracts a year.
The summer internship is a seven-week program in which students shadow full-time traders across multiple desks, research and present daily market briefings, attend two guest-speaker sessions a day, complete Excel training, visit the New York Stock Exchange, and train on the Bloomberg Terminal at Bloomberg headquarters. Vault ranks it #9 overall among financial services internships, #12 for compensation and benefits, and #21 for training and mentoring in 2026. The cohort grew from 24 interns in 2024 to 30 in 2025.

When Do Baycrest Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
BayCrest doesn't publish dates, so this calendar is reconstructed from two years of LinkedIn cohort posts and general boutique practice: outreach in winter, applications by email in early spring, quick panel interviews, and a June start. Why start now, nine months out? Because the application isn't the hard part; the referral is.
So the fall belongs to networking and skill-building, and the spring belongs to a two-month sprint.
Applications for summer 2027 aren't open yet, and there's no portal to watch. Use the fall to follow markets daily, learn the agency-only model, take Bloomberg's free Market Concepts course, and start building relationships with BayCrest traders and former interns on LinkedIn.
Networking window. Every Glassdoor interviewee entered through an employee referral. Ask junior traders and recent interns for 15-minute conversations, research the four divisions (equities, options, fixed income, energy and commodities) and the merchant services arm, and get a name you can put in your email subject line.
Applications expected to open by email to careers@baycny.com: resume plus a cover letter that says why BayCrest specifically, not just why finance. Mention your referral. There's no published deadline, so treat the first weeks of March as the practical cutoff.
Group panel interviews (expected). Glassdoor rates the process "very easy" at 1 out of 5, with 100% positive experiences across a tiny sample. Expect "tell me about yourself," "why finance," "why BayCrest" and basic markets questions. One candidate reported a one-day turnaround.
The 7-week program: desk rotations, two guest speakers a day, daily market briefings, Excel training, the NYSE visit and Bloomberg HQ training, and a cohort project.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
BayCrest has no deadline to miss, which is precisely why the window is short. A 100-person firm fills 24 to 30 seats through relationships, and the panel interviews can resolve in a day. By the time a cold applicant emails in April, the referred candidates have often already been through.
So the week that matters isn't the week applications open; it's the week in January when you send your first LinkedIn message. And when the email window does open, send your materials in the first days with a referrer's name in the subject line.
Which Baycrest Internship Programs Should You Target?
BayCrest runs one internship, not a menu of tracks. Interns rotate across desks instead of being assigned to one product.
So the table below shows the program and the desks it rotates through.
| Program / rotation | Focus | Duration | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summer Internship Program | Shadow full-time traders, support trading operations and market analysis, present daily market briefings, guest-speaker sessions, NYSE visit, Bloomberg HQ training | 7 weeks, part-time, New York | Bloomberg Terminal, Excel, market analysis, presentation |
| Equities & equity derivatives rotation | Agency execution across 60-plus venues and 40-plus dark pools; options and equity swaps | Within the 7 weeks | Market microstructure, liquidity sourcing |
| Fixed income rotation | Treasury futures, securitized products, over $1 trillion in annual notional | Within the 7 weeks | Rates, pricing, macro research |
| Energy & commodities rotation | Energy and commodities desk exposure | Within the 7 weeks | Commodity markets, macro drivers |
| Merchant services exposure | Private placements and structured capital raising ($2B-plus raised since inception; two $1B TPG-backed deals in January 2026) | Guest sessions and projects | Deal analysis, capital markets |
A separate Marketing Associate Intern role has appeared on Indeed in the past but isn't part of the structured trading-floor program. Details and the current cohort's photos are on BayCrest's LinkedIn page.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
BayCrest publishes no JD, so these requirements come from Vault's program listing and from the profiles of past interns.
• Enrollment: currently in a bachelor's or master's program; past cohorts skew toward rising juniors and seniors
• GPA: Vault lists a 3.0–3.49 minimum
• Major: finance, economics and business dominate past cohorts, but no formal restriction is stated
• Location: in person at 40 Wall Street, New York; no remote option
• Work authorization: not published either way; ask before applying if you'd need sponsorship
• What's tested: genuine interest in capital markets and trading, and a specific reason for choosing BayCrest

Is the Baycrest Internship Really Part-Time?
Vault lists it as part-time, which is unusual for a Wall Street floor program and matters for two reasons. It affects total pay: at 25 hours a week and the reported $21 to $31 an hour, seven weeks works out to roughly $3,700 to $5,400 before taxes. And it affects what "shadowing" means day to day.
But nothing in the LinkedIn posts or intern reviews describes half-days, so the label may reflect flexible scheduling rather than a strict cap. Ask about weekly hours in the interview; it's a reasonable question and shows you've read the fine print.
What Skills Does Baycrest Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
What does BayCrest actually train? Since the firm posts no JDs, we worked from three sources: Vault's program listing, intern testimonials on LinkedIn, and the firm's own site. Bloomberg Terminal training at Bloomberg headquarters and dedicated Excel sessions are the two named skills. Daily market briefings mean every intern researches macro developments and presents them to the team.
But the deeper requirement is understanding what an agency broker does: execution quality, liquidity sourcing and client relationships rather than directional bets. Interns who arrive knowing that spend their seven weeks learning the desks instead of learning the vocabulary.

Healthcare intern hiring right now: September 2026
Across US healthcare administration intern postings tracked this month · aggregate market data, all employers
September 2026: the broad intern market is in its fall recruiting surge, but this niche indexes too thinly on Adzuna to call a trend, so treat the company's own board as the signal and apply the week a posting appears.
Method: aggregate analysis of US healthcare administration intern postings on Adzuna's US index, August average versus September 2026 to date (3 collection days). Sample indexes under half of all US postings; figures show direction and relative level, not total market share.
Build These Skills Before You Apply
And two of those skills map to remote Externships you can finish before the spring email window.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Excel & financial modeling | Vault: dedicated Excel training sessions; interns support trading operations and market analysis | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
| Deal analysis & capital raising | Merchant services arm: placement agent on Elevex Capital's and Thrive Financial's $1B TPG facilities, January 2026 | HP Tech Ventures Deal Sourcing & Startup Analysis |
Each Externship runs 4–11 weeks (most commonly 8), so one started in the fall is done before you send that email. BayCrest isn't an Extern partner; the point is having a real modeling or deal project to bring up when a panel asks why you want to be on a trading floor.

What Is the Baycrest Application and Interview Process Like?
There's no portal, no online assessment, and by all accounts no hard interview. The process is an email, a referral and a panel conversation.
So the preparation is relational and conceptual, not technical.
1. Research the firm: the four divisions, the merchant services business, the agency-only model and how it differs from prop shops and bulge-bracket desks.
2. Get a referral. Connect with junior traders and recent interns on LinkedIn, use alumni networks, and ask for short informational conversations. Every Glassdoor interviewee came in this way.
3. Write a BayCrest-specific cover letter that names desks, the technology-driven execution approach or a recent deal, and highlights finance coursework, investment clubs or trading simulations.
4. Email resume and cover letter to careers@baycny.com in early spring, with the referral in the subject line.
5. Group panel interview. Rated 1 out of 5 difficulty on Glassdoor: "why finance," "why BayCrest," "tell me about yourself" and basic finance concepts. Be ready to discuss current market conditions.
6. Offer and prep. Follow markets daily, brush up on Excel, and take Bloomberg Market Concepts before June.
Glassdoor's interview data is two reports, so treat "very easy" as directional. What's consistent across sources is speed and informality. See Vault's BayCrest internship profile for the program listing and rankings.
What the Community Says
Reddit has nothing on BayCrest Partners; every "Baycrest" thread is about the Toronto hospital. So the community signal comes from Glassdoor (16 reviews, 4.0 out of 5, 69% recommend) and two Indeed reviews, small samples that lean positive with one sharp exception.
And the exception matters: one intern review titled "training program is a joke" gave one star, so the experience isn't uniformly glowing.
A summer intern described lovely people, real education and a great environment, and said there were no downsides to an experience they called impeccable.
Another intern reviewer highlighted the amount of learning, said everyone was friendly, encouraging and motivated, and noted that because the firm is small the internship feels very personal, with direct access to senior people.
A former marketing associate intern called the work environment fun, mentioning the TVs, daily market news and the view, and said management genuinely wanted interns to succeed.
How Do You Stand Out at Baycrest?
First, use the agency-only model in your cover letter and interview. BayCrest executes on behalf of institutional clients without taking proprietary positions, so its traders are judged on execution quality and liquidity sourcing, not P&L from directional bets. Explaining that distinction, and referencing the 60-plus venues and 40-plus dark pools the equities desk can reach, is real homework most applicants skip.
Second, know the merchant services deals. In January 2026 BayCrest was placement agent on Elevex Capital's $1 billion forward flow agreement with TPG and Thrive Financial's $1 billion asset purchase facility with TPG. Most intern candidates only know the trading desks; mentioning the capital-raising arm shows you follow the firm's news.
And third, get the referral before you apply. Every Glassdoor interviewee entered through an employee, which at a 100-person shop is how hiring works. Target junior traders and recent former interns, and remember the culture reviews call people friendly and approachable. Is a cold email hopeless? Not entirely, but it's the slow lane.

What Other Companies Should You Consider?
Which other trading floors should be on your list? BayCrest's closest peers are other boutique and agency broker-dealers, none of which have a published guide yet.
But several mid-market institutional brokers with structured sales and trading internships do, and they draw from the same applicant pool.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Baycrest internship?
No. The summer 2026 cohort ran from June through mid-August 2026 and has finished. The next program is summer 2027, with applications expected by email around February to March 2027 and a June 2027 start. Use the fall and winter to secure a referral, which is how nearly every intern gets in.
How do I apply for the Baycrest Partners internship?
Email a resume and cover letter to careers@baycny.com; there's no online portal or ATS. Mention any employee referral in the subject line and tailor the letter to BayCrest specifically. No deadline is published, so send it in the first weeks of the expected February to March 2027 window rather than waiting for spring.
How much does the Baycrest internship pay?
Community-reported pay on Glassdoor is $21 to $31 an hour with a median near $25, from three submissions, and Vault ranks the program #12 for compensation and benefits. But a Glassdoor summary notes pay isn't guaranteed for every intern role, so confirm the terms for your seat directly before accepting.
What GPA do I need for a Baycrest internship?
Vault's program listing gives a minimum in the 3.0 to 3.49 range. That's a moderate bar compared with bulge-bracket banks, and the interview focuses on your interest in markets and in BayCrest rather than on grades. Strong finance and economics coursework and an investment club record help more than a few tenths of GPA.
Do I need a referral to get the Baycrest internship?
Not officially, but in practice yes. Every candidate who shared an interview on Glassdoor entered through an employee referral, and a 100-person firm hires through relationships. Connect with junior traders and recent interns on LinkedIn during the winter, ask for short conversations, and get a name to reference before the email window opens.
What is the Baycrest interview like?
A group panel that Glassdoor rates "very easy," 1 out of 5, with 100% positive experiences across two reports. Expect "why finance," "why BayCrest," "tell me about yourself" and basic finance concepts, and be ready to talk about current markets. The process can resolve in a day, so have your answers ready when you send the email.
What desks do Baycrest interns rotate through?
Fixed income, equity derivatives, treasury futures, equity swaps, securitized products, and energy and commodities. Interns shadow full-time traders across these desks rather than being assigned to one, and they also hear from the merchant services team, which raised over $2 billion in private placements since inception. The exposure is broad by design.
Does the Baycrest internship lead to a full-time offer?
Sometimes, but no rate is published. With about 100 professionals and 24 to 30 interns a summer, the firm can't convert most of a cohort, and the small-shop reviews confirm limited formal growth. What interns reliably get is direct visibility with decision-makers and a Wall Street reference, which tends to pay off in later recruiting.
BayCrest's summer 2027 email window is months away, but the referral that gets you a panel interview is built now. Spend the fall finishing a remote Externship that gives you a modeling project to talk about, then start the LinkedIn conversations in January. Explore all Externships.
