The Atlanta Hawks run one named summer internship, the HBCU Pathways Program, and it isn't open yet. As of 17 October 2026 the Hawks' program page still reads as if you can apply today and lists eight summer 2026 internships, but those eight postings are closed. The Hawks' own page already showed them on 22 December 2025, so applications for summer 2027 are expected from about December 2026, roughly 5 to 6 months before a June start. The only student-eligible role open today is a part-time College Park Skyhawks game-night communications job. In plain words: you apply this winter and intern in summer 2027.

The Hawks' HBCU Pathways tracks ask for analytics, digital marketing and partnership skills, so a finished project helps. Externships are short, remote programs where you complete a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks. What Is an Atlanta Hawks Internship?

An Atlanta Hawks internship is a paid role with the NBA team's business side. The Hawks post jointly for the team, State Farm Arena and the College Park Skyhawks, their G League affiliate. The flagship is the HBCU Pathways Program presented by Georgia Power: a 10-week paid summer internship, from June to August, for undergraduate students from historically Black colleges and universities. In 2026 it had eight tracks: Brand Communications, Digital Marketing, Event Operations, Global Partnership (Activation), Global Partnership (Sales), Hawks iQ (Analytics), Retail and Ticket Sales. Alongside it, the Hawks list a part-time Skyhawks game-night role and a Sekou Smith Summer League Experience internship on TeamWork Online. The Hawks' Sales Development Program and True Trainee page aren't internships.

When Do Atlanta Hawks Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

The Hawks have one summer clock, and we only have one cycle of evidence for it. The program page was archived on 22 December 2025 with all eight summer 2026 postings already listed, so they went up on or before that date. We don't know the exact posting day, and the Hawks publish no closing date. Projecting from that single cycle, summer 2027 postings are expected from about December 2026, which would be roughly 5 to 6 months before a June start. Treat that as low confidence. Separately, the Skyhawks game-night communications role is open now for the 2026-27 season.

Now · October 2026YOU ARE HERE

Summer 2027 isn't posted. The one student-eligible role open is the Skyhawks Game Night Communications Assistant: part-time, all 24 home games, for juniors, seniors and recent graduates. The Hawks' program page still lists last summer's eight internships as current, but they're closed.

Pick your track. Each HBCU Pathways track is its own posting, so decide whether you're after ticket sales, partnerships, digital, retail, events, communications or analytics, and prepare a résumé and examples to match.

~December 2026EXPECTED

Applications for summer 2027 are expected to start posting around December 2026. The summer 2026 postings were on the Hawks' page by 22 December 2025. No deadline is published, so apply the first week.

Winter to spring 2027

The Hawks publish no interview or offer calendar. The Sekou Smith Summer League Experience listing on TeamWork Online is closed; check TeamWork Online each month in case it returns.

Summer 2027

HBCU Pathways is described as a 10-week summer internship from June to August.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

The Hawks don't say whether HBCU Pathways postings close on a date or stay open until filled, so there's no safe way to wait. Each of the eight 2026 tracks was its own posting, so you can't count on one long window for the track you want. We can't prove a deadline either way, which makes this an apply-early case: set a reminder for the first week of December and have your track, résumé and examples ready. Also check the Hawks' board before you spend time on the program page, because it still shows closed postings.

Which Atlanta Hawks Internship Programs Should You Target?

These are the eight HBCU Pathways tracks the Hawks listed for summer 2026. All eight postings are closed, and the track mix changes each year.

Track descriptions are on the HBCU Pathways page, and applications run through the Hawks' Workday board. Don't confuse these with the Hawks' Sales Development Program, an entry-level membership sales job, or the True Trainee page, which carries 2022 dates and lists no openings.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Eligibility depends on which role you're after:

• HBCU Pathways: undergraduate students from historically Black colleges and universities, per the Hawks' workforce page.

• Skyhawks Game Night Communications Assistant: pursuing a bachelor's degree as a junior or senior, or a recent college graduate.

• Availability: the Skyhawks role needs you at all 24 home games, including game days, holidays and weekends.

• Coursework: the Skyhawks posting prefers journalism, communications, public relations or sports management.

• Sekou Smith Summer League Experience: the listing on TeamWork Online is closed, so we couldn't read its requirements.

• GPA, academic credit and work authorization: not stated on the Hawks' pages.

Do You Have to Attend an HBCU?

For HBCU Pathways, yes. It's built for undergraduates from historically Black colleges and universities, and we found no separate general summer internship posting at the Hawks. If you're a junior, senior or recent graduate in the Atlanta area, the part-time Skyhawks role is the open door today.

What Skills Do the Atlanta Hawks Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

The Hawks' track descriptions point to a few skill families. Analytics: Hawks iQ supports data-driven insights across ticketing, marketing, retail and strategic intelligence. Marketing and partnerships: Digital Marketing works on offers, gaming and challenges in the mobile app, and the partnership tracks support campaigns across the Hawks, Skyhawks and Hawks Enterprise. Communications and operations: Brand Communications builds media monitoring, media relations and storytelling skills, and the Skyhawks role asks for Microsoft Office, organization and time management.

Note: No bar chart for this page. The Hawks have one student-eligible posting open, and the HBCU Pathways descriptions are short track summaries rather than full job descriptions, so there's no sample to count. The skills above come from those summaries and the Skyhawks posting.

An Externship deliverable gives you something concrete to show alongside the track you choose, which matters when each track is a separate posting.

What Is the Atlanta Hawks Application and Interview Process Like?

The Hawks don't publish an interview format. This is what their pages and postings show:

1. Pick a track. HBCU Pathways lists each track as its own posting; in 2026 there were eight.

2. Apply on Workday. Use the Hawks' Workday board, where each track's posting sits. The program page links to each one.

3. Match the posting. Hawks iQ describes work on ticketing, marketing, retail and revenue, so bring analysis examples; Brand Communications describes media monitoring and storytelling.

4. Interview. The Hawks don't publish stages or timing.

5. Offer. Pay and start dates beyond "10 weeks, June to August" aren't published on the Hawks' pages.

What Students on Reddit Say

We found no first-hand Reddit threads about the Hawks' internship process. The Hawks staff threads we read date from 2014 and 2017, and the 2022 and 2026 internship threads are job-feed reposts with no discussion, so we've left out quotes rather than pad this section.

How Do You Stand Out for a Hawks Internship?

Three moves. First, know your window. Summer 2027 postings are expected from about December 2026, and the program page may still show closed ones, so check the Workday board itself. Second, match your track. Hawks iQ describes ticketing, marketing, retail and revenue analysis, so bring a project that shows it; Digital Marketing works on offers and challenges in a mobile app, so show a fan-facing campaign. Third, use the open door now. The Skyhawks game-night role puts you in the media workroom for all 24 home games, handing out credentials, box scores and game notes, which is real experience for a communications application. The Hawks don't publish an applicant count or a conversion rate, so treat the internship itself as the goal.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Atlanta Hawks internship?

No. The eight summer 2026 HBCU Pathways postings are closed, even though the Hawks' program page still lists them. Nothing for summer 2027 is posted as of 17 October 2026. The one student-eligible role open now is the part-time Skyhawks game-night communications job, for juniors, seniors and recent graduates.

When do Atlanta Hawks summer 2027 internship applications open?

They're expected from about December 2026, though that's a projection from one cycle. The Hawks' own program page already listed the eight summer 2026 postings on 22 December 2025, so they went up on or before that date. The Hawks publish no deadline, so apply the first week.

What is the Atlanta Hawks HBCU Pathways Program?

It's a 10-week paid summer internship, from June to August, presented by Georgia Power for undergraduate students from historically Black colleges and universities. In 2026 it had eight tracks, including ticket sales, global partnerships, digital marketing, event operations, retail, brand communications and Hawks iQ analytics.

How much does an Atlanta Hawks internship pay?

The Hawks describe HBCU Pathways as a paid internship but don't publish an hourly rate or stipend on their pages. The open Skyhawks game-night posting doesn't state pay either. We've left out figures from job-board copies, so check the posting itself for the rate.

Are any Atlanta Hawks internships open right now?

One student-eligible role. On 17 October 2026 the Hawks' board listed the Skyhawks Game Night Communications Assistant, a part-time job covering all 24 home games for juniors, seniors and recent graduates. No summer 2027 internship is posted, and the Summer League experience listing is closed.

Do I need to attend an HBCU to intern with the Hawks?

For HBCU Pathways, yes: it's for undergraduate students from historically Black colleges and universities. We found no separate general summer internship at the Hawks. Students from other schools can look at the Skyhawks game-night role, which takes juniors, seniors and recent graduates.

Are the Hawks' True Trainee and Sales Development programs internships?

No. The Sales Development Program is an entry-level membership sales job built around outbound calls. The True Trainee page describes a post-graduate, season-long role but carries 2022 dates and says to check back, and we found no live trainee postings. Neither is a student internship.

Where do I apply for a Hawks internship?

Through the Hawks' Workday job board, where each internship track is its own posting, and the HBCU Pathways page links to them. Some roles also appear on the Hawks' TeamWork Online page. The Hawks' nba.com careers path returned an error page, so use the links in this guide.

The Hawks' summer 2027 postings are expected from about December. Use the weeks before then to apply for the open Skyhawks role if you're local, and finish a remote Externship that shows the skills your track asks for; most take 5 to 10 hours a week.
