Last updated: October 2026
Arthur D. Little's US internship window for summer 2027 has closed. The firm posted its Summer Business Analyst 2027 role for Boston, New York and San Francisco on August 24, 2026, and applications closed on October 9, 2026, according to the Handshake listing mirrored by Cornell Career Services. That's about six and a half weeks. When we checked Arthur D. Little's early-careers board on October 12, 2026, it listed 21 intern and working-student roles and none was in the United States.
So the cycle to plan for is summer 2028. In plain words: you apply in late summer and early fall 2027, you intern in summer 2028. The posting that just closed described an 8 to 10 week internship starting in June, with a published monthly salary of $4,000 to $8,000. Only one US cycle is documented, so read every 2027 date on this page as an expectation, not a schedule.
What Is an Arthur D. Little Internship?
An Arthur D. Little internship is a paid Business Analyst placement at the US arm of Arthur D. Little (ADL), the management consultancy founded in Boston in 1886. Its own posting calls it "the world's first consultancy." Interns work on "well-defined sub-tasks of consulting engagements" with a case manager: researching a market, building slides and reports, and joining client workshops and interviews. The firm ranks #10 on Vault's Consulting 50 (2026 edition). The US posting adds that Arthur D. Little US is certified by Great Place To Work, with 96% of employees calling it a great place to work. ADL is run from Europe and its job board carries internships in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Those aren't US internships, and this page covers the three US offices only: Boston, New York and San Francisco.

When Do Arthur D. Little Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
One late-summer posting wave fills both of ADL's US intakes. For the cycle that just ended, the Summer Business Analyst 2027 and Winter Business Analyst 2027 requisitions were created within the same minute on August 24, 2026, and the Handshake listings mirrored by Cornell show both closing on October 9, 2026. That put the summer posting about 9.3 months before the June 2027 start and the winter posting about 4.3 months before the January 2027 start. Two Reddit commenters also describe an earlier summer 2027 listing on Handshake with a late-July deadline that was later deleted, so the true open date may have been June. With one documented cycle, the dates for summer 2028 below are low-confidence projections. A student waiting for a spring posting would have found nothing.
Applications for summer 2027 and the January 2027 winter intake closed on October 9, 2026. ADL's board shows no US internship. This is the stretch to build case skills and project experience for the next window.
Practice verbal cases and work through ADL's published case study. Get your résumé, cover letter and transcripts ready, since all three were required. From June 2027, check the early-careers board every week.
Applications for summer 2028 and the January 2028 winter intake are expected to open and close inside this window. Last cycle: posted August 24, 2026, closed October 9, 2026. Community reports point to a possible earlier listing in June.
Screening interview, first interview and Super Day for summer 2028 candidates, about one to two weeks apart. Last cycle, final rounds were already running in late September, before the deadline.
The winter intake starts in January 2028 and the summer 2028 internship starts in June for 8 to 10 weeks, if ADL repeats last cycle's pattern.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
ADL's US window is a hard deadline, not a rolling posting you can catch late. The Handshake listings mirrored by Cornell state that applications close on a named day (October 9 in 2026), and the requisition was gone from ADL's board when we checked two days later. The deadline is only half of it. Candidates on Reddit describe being invited to screening in mid-August and sitting final rounds in the week of September 21, 2026, more than two weeks before the close. So ADL reviews as applications arrive. For summer 2028, plan to apply in the first week the posting appears, and treat early October 2027 as the last possible day, not the target.
Which Arthur D. Little Internship Programs Should You Target?
ADL's US arm posted three Business Analyst internship tracks in the last cycle, all for Boston, New York or San Francisco.
| Program | Who it's for | Timing | What you do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summer Business Analyst (undergraduate) | Students enrolled in an undergraduate degree program | June start, typically 8 to 10 weeks | Research, slides and reports, input in client meetings |
| Summer Business Analyst, 4 to 6 months (advanced degree) | Master's, MBA and PhD students | Summer start, 4 to 6 months | Same case-team work over a longer placement |
| Winter Business Analyst | Posted in the same wave; the Handshake listing describes an advanced-degree role | January start; one listing says 8 to 10 weeks, another 4 to 6 months | Same case-team work; check the live posting for length |
All three closed on October 9, 2026. New postings will appear on the ADL early-careers board, which today lists only non-US internships such as Stockholm, Warsaw and Singapore.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
The summer 2027 posting set these rules, and they're the best guide to summer 2028:
• Education: enrolled in an undergraduate degree program "from a top ranked school" for the summer track, or in an advanced degree (master's, MBA, PhD) for the advanced-degree listings.
• Class year: not stated. The posting doesn't limit the role to juniors.
• GPA: no minimum is published, but academic transcripts are required.
• Work authorization: "U.S.A. work authorization, at least OPT STEM."
• Materials: résumé, cover letter and transcripts, plus your office preferences.
• Experience: earlier internship or "relevant experience in strategy consulting, business development, or related fields is a plus."

Is There a GPA Cutoff at Arthur D. Little?
ADL doesn't publish one. The posting asks for transcripts and says candidates should come "from a top ranked school," so grades are read even though no number is named. We found no statement from ADL about a minimum or about exceptions. The work authorization line matters more for many readers: "at least OPT STEM" is ADL's own wording, so international students should check their status against it before the window opens. Office choice is lower stakes. ADL says preferences won't affect interview invitations but "may be considered when extending final offers."

What Skills Does Arthur D. Little Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
ADL's US internship postings name no software at all. They describe a way of working: think critically about complex processes, analyze data and build models, research new industries and technologies, and develop actionable strategies. The second half is about people: communicating recommendations "to internal and external clients," strong writing and speaking, and being "a credible partner in the eyes of the client." Both US requisitions we read use the same template, so the chart below shows what one posting asks for, not a spread across many roles.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each skill in ADL's posting maps to a remote Externship that leaves you with a finished project to discuss.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Strategy development | "develop actionable strategies" | Lean Startup Co. Corporate Strategy Externship Mentored by Eric Ries |
| Data analysis and models | "analyze data and build models" | Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy |
| Industry and technology research | "research new industries and technologies" | HP Tech Ventures Deal Sourcing & Startup Analysis |
The data row matters most for the interview: candidates describe ADL's research case as a set of datasets with gaps and little guidance.
What Is the Arthur D. Little Application and Interview Process Like?
ADL doesn't publish its US internship steps. The posting and candidate reports from the summer 2027 cycle show this sequence:
1. Apply on ADL's own portal. Upload a résumé, cover letter and transcripts and rank the three offices. The posting said applications submitted on Handshake wouldn't be reviewed.
2. Screening interview. Community-reported as a behavioral conversation plus a verbal case.
3. Interview 1. A second conversation, about one to two weeks after screening, per one candidate.
4. Super Day. Community-reported as Interview 2 plus a Research Case: datasets and partial context that you have to structure yourself.
5. Offer. For one of Boston, New York or San Francisco. ADL publishes no decision timeline.
ADL posts its own prep material, including a worked case study with structuring, quantitative, brainstorming and recommendation exercises. For the behavioral half, see our behavioral interview guide.
What Students on Reddit Say
Reddit threads from the summer 2027 cycle cover timing and the research case.
A candidate who applied at the end of June said the screening invitation came in mid-August, and that the screening, first interview and Super Day (a second interview plus a research case) were each about one to two weeks apart.
A commenter said the research case differs from the verbal first-round case: you get datasets and some context with gaps and almost no guidance, and the math is real but not extreme.
In July, two commenters said a summer 2027 listing had appeared on Handshake with a late-July deadline and was then deleted, and one had already missed it.
How Do You Stand Out for an Arthur D. Little Internship?
Three moves. First, be early inside a short window. Watch the board from June 2027 and apply the week the posting appears, with your cover letter and transcripts already done. Second, prepare for a data-heavy case, not only a verbal one. Work through ADL's published case study, then practice with a raw dataset and no prompt: decide the question, clean the data, and write a one-page recommendation. Third, show technical curiosity. ADL works across technology-intensive industries and asks interns to "research new industries and technologies," so bring a project where you had to learn an unfamiliar market fast. ADL publishes no applicant count, class size or return-offer rate. On its Vault profile, the firm notes that Wall Street Oasis users ranked its interviews among the hardest in consulting, which is a community ranking.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2027 Arthur D. Little internship?
No. ADL's US Summer Business Analyst 2027 posting closed on October 9, 2026, and the January 2027 winter posting closed with it. On October 12, 2026, ADL's early-careers board listed 21 intern and working-student roles, none in the United States. The next US window is expected around late August 2027, for summer 2028.
When do Arthur D. Little internship applications open for summer 2028?
Expect late August 2027, with a close around early October 2027. That projection comes from one documented cycle: the summer 2027 posting went up on August 24, 2026 and closed on October 9, 2026. Reddit commenters also reported an earlier Handshake listing in June and July 2026, so start checking the board in June.
Is the Arthur D. Little internship application rolling?
It has a hard deadline, and ADL also reviews early. The Handshake listings named October 9, 2026 as the closing day, and the posting was gone two days later. Candidates reported screening invitations in mid-August and final rounds in late September, before the close. Apply in the first week, not the last.
How much do Arthur D. Little interns get paid?
ADL's US posting for summer 2027 stated a monthly salary of $4,000 to $8,000, "based on a candidate's previous experience and educational qualifications." The range is wide because the same sentence covers undergraduates and advanced-degree interns. ADL hasn't published pay for summer 2028, and the posting didn't mention housing or relocation.
Who is eligible for an Arthur D. Little internship?
Students enrolled in an undergraduate program qualify for the summer track, and master's, MBA and PhD students qualify for the advanced-degree listings. The posting asks for "a top ranked school" and US work authorization of "at least OPT STEM." It names no GPA minimum or class year, but transcripts are required.
What is the Arthur D. Little internship interview process?
Candidates from the summer 2027 cycle describe three stages about one to two weeks apart: a screening interview, a first interview, and a Super Day with a second interview and a research case. The research case reportedly uses datasets with gaps and little guidance. ADL publishes a worked case study on its careers site.
Does Arthur D. Little have a winter internship in the US?
Yes. A Winter Business Analyst 2027 requisition with a January 2027 start was posted alongside the summer role on August 24, 2026. The Handshake listing described it as a 4 to 6 month role for advanced-degree students. A January 2028 intake is expected to post in the same late-summer 2027 wave.
Do Arthur D. Little interns get full-time offers?
ADL doesn't publish a return-offer rate or an intern class size. A Vault insider quote says higher-level skills, such as readiness to present to clients, are evaluated during the internship, which suggests it feeds full-time Business Analyst hiring. Treat that as a signal, not a number, and ask your recruiter about conversion directly.
ADL's summer 2027 window is closed, and the next one is expected in late summer 2027. Use the months between to add proof: a remote Externship gives you a finished strategy or data project to bring to your Arthur D. Little application.
