Last updated: October 2026
Allianz's summer 2027 US internships are open now, and all of them are in Minneapolis. On October 5, 2026 Allianz's careers board showed five live US intern postings: an actuarial internship and three hedging-desk internships at Allianz Life, plus an IT internship at Allianz Technology of America. In plain words: you apply during 2026, you intern in summer 2027.
The tracks open months apart. The actuarial posting went up on July 20, 2026, and a student reported an Allianz Life offer on September 11, so that track is already filling. Posted pay runs from $23 an hour for IT to $31 to $35 for the hedging desk. Allianz Life's business internships haven't posted yet; last cycle's appeared in early November.
What Is an Allianz Internship?
An Allianz internship in the US is a paid, 12-week summer program at Allianz Life Insurance Company or Allianz Technology of America, both in Minneapolis. Allianz Life interns work in actuarial, on the Allianz Investment Management (AIM) hedging desk or in business functions, with presentations, access to senior leaders and a professional development series. Allianz Technology interns rotate through software, security and project work. The parent Allianz Group lists "over 120,000 employees worldwide." PIMCO is Allianz-owned but recruits separately, and Allianz Commercial had no US intern roles posted on October 5.

When Do Allianz Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Allianz posts its summer tracks months apart. The actuarial internship for summer 2027 went up on July 20, 2026, about 10 months before the program, close to last year's July 29, 2025 date for summer 2026. The hedging-desk roles followed on August 26 and September 28, and the IT internship on September 18. Allianz Life's business internships come later: last cycle's Customer Experience internship posted on November 6, 2025, so expect summer 2027 business roles around November 2026, a projection from one prior posting. Summer 2028 actuarial applications are expected around late July 2027.
Applications for summer 2027 are open right now for five roles: Actuarial, AIM Hedging Analyst, AIM Hedging Research Analyst (PhD), AIM Hedging Software Developer and the Allianz Technology IT internship. Actuarial offers have been going out since mid-September.
Rolling interviews and offers for summer 2027. Actuarial seats are filling now; the IT and hedging software roles posted in late September and are earlier in their review.
Allianz Life's business internships for summer 2027 are expected to post, based on last cycle's Customer Experience internship (posted November 6, 2025, $20 to $24 an hour, hybrid).
The 12-week program runs in Minneapolis: fully onsite for Allianz Life, hybrid four days a week for Allianz Technology. IT interns can move into TechSTART, a one-year rotational full-time program.
Allianz Life's actuarial internship for summer 2028 is expected to post, following July 29, 2025 and July 20, 2026 in the last two cycles.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Allianz fills on a rolling basis, and its earliest track is already converting. No posting carries a deadline, but the actuarial internship has been up since July 20, and a third-year student wrote on Reddit on September 11, 2026 that they'd received an Allianz Life offer that morning, with a few days to decide. Every offer accepted is a seat gone. The hedging and IT roles posted later, so they're earlier in review, but they're single postings that can come down once filled. Apply this week, and set an alert now for the business internships expected around November.
Which Allianz Internship Programs Should You Target?
Allianz's five open US roles sit at two Minneapolis companies, and a business track is expected later.
| Program (company) | Focus | Pay and work model | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actuarial Internship (Allianz Life) | Product filings, pricing, experience studies, financial models | $29 to $32/hr; fully onsite | SOA exams, Excel, VBA, programming |
| AIM Hedging Analyst (Allianz Life) | Tools, analytics and back-tests for the hedge trading desk | $31 to $35/hr; fully onsite | Calculus, statistics, probability, software |
| AIM Hedging Research Analyst, PhD (Allianz Life) | Quantitative research for the dynamic hedge desk | $31 to $35/hr; fully onsite | Mathematical modeling, research code |
| AIM Hedging Software Developer (Allianz Life) | Production C# and .NET for the desk's trading system | $31 to $35/hr; fully onsite | Data structures, OOP, C#, SQL |
| Summer Intern 2027, IT (Allianz Technology of America) | Software development, IT security, production support, project delivery | $23/hr; hybrid, 4 days in office | Technical or analytical coursework, AI |
| Business internships (Allianz Life, expected) | Business functions; last cycle's example was Customer Experience | $20 to $24/hr last cycle; hybrid | Communication, analysis |

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Each posting sets its own requirements:
• Actuarial: pursuing a degree in actuarial science, mathematics or a related field; 1 to 2 SOA exams preferred; experience with Excel, VBA or another programming language.
• AIM Hedging Analyst and Software Developer: undergraduate or graduate students in math, physics, computer science, actuarial science, engineering or related fields; the developer track says "a finance background is not required."
• AIM Hedging Research Analyst: for students pursuing a PhD in a technical field.
• Allianz Technology IT: enrolled in a four-year degree program; prior internship or work-study preferred, with "preference given to rising juniors and seniors."
• Work authorization: all four Allianz Life postings require authorization without sponsorship now or in the future, naming OPT and CPT. The Allianz Technology posting doesn't state a policy.

Is There a GPA Cutoff at Allianz?
No posting names a number. The three hedging postings ask for "an outstanding record of academic achievement," and the actuarial posting weighs exams and programming instead. The firmer gate is sponsorship: Allianz Life lists H-1B, OPT and CPT holders among those it can't consider, so international students should start with the Allianz Technology posting and confirm its policy with the recruiter.

Could You Get In at Allianz? Compare Your Profile
Based on 543 investment banking summer analysts at top investment banks from the classes of 2025 and 2026 (public LinkedIn profiles, aggregated). Six questions, under a minute.
Which summer are you applying for?
Recruiting timelines differ by class year, so we compare you with the right group.
Which group is your school closest to?
Firms recruit on campus in tiers. We match you against admits from schools like yours.
Is your major finance, economics, accounting or business?
Math and statistics count too. Major is not a hard filter, but it shifts how much your coursework has to prove.
How many internships, externships or research positions have you held so far?
Count anything with a real employer, mentor or principal investigator attached. Retail and food service do not count.
Has any of that experience been finance-related?
Banking, PE or VC, corporate finance, wealth management, equity research, accounting or consulting. Any size of firm counts.
Are you in a finance club, investment fund or case competition team?
Campus clubs are how most admits get their first deal and modelling reps.

What Skills Does Allianz Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Every one of Allianz's five postings asks interns to use AI tools such as generative AI, and every one involves programming or software work. Beyond that, the tracks split. Actuarial wants SOA exams, Excel and VBA automation and financial models. Hedging wants calculus, statistics and probability plus financial math, and its developer track wants C#, .NET and SQL. IT spans software development, security and project delivery. Community reports add one more: Allianz Life interviewers test whether you understand how life insurers make money.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each Allianz skill maps to a remote Externship that gives you a finished project to talk through in interviews.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Financial modeling | Actuarial: "developing complex financial models"; Hedging: "knowledge of financial math" | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
| AI tools in daily work | All five postings: use AI tools such as generative AI or coding assistants | Wayfair n8n AI Agent Engineering |
| SQL and systems | Hedging Software Developer: data structures, OOP, C#, .NET and SQL | Breaking Games SQL Database Architecture |
| IT security | Allianz Technology: hands-on projects in IT Security and Production Support | Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense |
For actuarial applicants the modeling match matters most: interviewers probe your grasp of the life insurance business, and a finished valuation or projection model gives you something concrete to walk through.
What Is the Allianz Application and Interview Process Like?
Allianz doesn't publish its intern interview steps. Community reports on Allianz Life's actuarial hiring describe this sequence:
1. Apply on the Allianz careers board. Each track is its own posting; applications route to Allianz's SAP SuccessFactors system.
2. HR phone screen. A short call covering your background and exams; one 2024 commenter called it a standard phone call.
3. Team interviews. A commenter in August 2026 described an HR round, then back-to-back interviews with an actuary and a chief actuary (the role level wasn't stated).
4. Conceptual questions. Expect to explain how life insurers make money and risks such as longevity and disintermediation; older reports describe estimation brainteasers.
5. Offer. Rolling; one student received an offer on September 11, 2026 with a few days to decide.

What Students on Reddit Say
Most Reddit threads on Allianz internships come from actuarial students applying to Allianz Life in Minneapolis.
A third-year actuarial student got an Allianz Life internship offer on the morning of September 11 with a few days to decide. Commenters suggested asking for a short extension and telling other firms the date.
Prepare to discuss how life companies make money and how they manage longevity and disintermediation risk; Allianz in Minnesota is life insurance only. A 2026 candidate described an HR round, then back-to-back interviews with an actuary and a chief actuary.
Interview stories varied: some actuarial candidates got estimation brainteasers in a short phone screen, while an Allianz Life candidate described a standard HR interview followed by reasonable conversations with several teams.
How Do You Stand Out for an Allianz Internship?
Three moves. First, match the calendar. Actuarial opened in July and is already making offers, so apply now; business-function students should set an alert for November instead. Second, know the life insurance business. Be ready to explain how a life and annuity company makes money and what longevity and disintermediation risk mean, since community reports say that's what interviewers probe. Third, show code and AI in your work. Every posting mentions AI tools, and actuarial, hedging and IT all want programming, from VBA to C#. A short project where you automated an analysis fits all five. Allianz publishes no applicant count or conversion rate.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Allianz internship?
No. Summer 2026 has already run. The open door is summer 2027: on October 5, 2026 Allianz had five US intern roles live in Minneapolis, from actuarial to IT. The actuarial track has been making offers since September, so apply to it now, and watch for business roles around November.
When do Allianz internship applications open?
It depends on the track. For summer 2027, actuarial opened July 20, 2026, the hedging desk roles August 26 and September 28, and the IT internship September 18. Allianz Life's business internships posted around early November last cycle, so expect them around November 2026.
How much do Allianz interns make?
Posted ranges are $29 to $32 an hour for the actuarial internship, $31 to $35 for the three AIM hedging-desk internships and $23 an hour for the Allianz Technology IT internship. Last cycle's business internship in customer experience paid $20 to $24 an hour.
Where are Allianz internships in the US?
Minneapolis, Minnesota. All five summer 2027 postings are there, at Allianz Life's campus or Allianz Technology of America. Allianz Life internships are fully onsite, and the IT internship is hybrid, four days a week in the office. Allianz Commercial had no US intern roles posted.
Does Allianz sponsor visas for interns?
Allianz Life doesn't. Its four postings require US work authorization without sponsorship now or later and name H-1B, OPT and CPT holders among those excluded. The Allianz Technology IT posting doesn't state a policy, so ask the recruiter before applying.
What is the Allianz AIM hedging internship?
Allianz Investment Management runs three summer internships on its dynamic hedge trading desk: Hedging Analyst, Hedging Research Analyst for PhD students, and Hedging Software Developer. Interns build tools, back-test strategies or write production C# code, and each pays $31 to $35 an hour.
What do Allianz actuarial interviews ask?
Allianz doesn't publish them, but Reddit reports describe an HR screen, then interviews with actuaries. Expect conceptual questions on how life insurers make money and on longevity and disintermediation risk. Some older reports mention estimation brainteasers, so practice thinking out loud.
Is PIMCO part of the Allianz internship?
No. PIMCO is owned by Allianz but runs its own internship program on its own calendar and careers site. This page covers Allianz Life and Allianz Technology of America in Minneapolis; see our PIMCO internship guide for the asset manager's program.
Allianz Life's actuarial seats are already filling. Apply this week, and build a project to talk about in parallel: a remote Externship gives you finished modeling or AI work to bring to Allianz's interviews.
