Workiva, the Ames, Iowa software company behind connected reporting and compliance, posts its internships in a single window each year, and the summer 2027 window has already closed. Its internships page says applications go up in late August for fall, spring and summer internships, plus a smaller round in January for any remaining spring roles, and that they're usually open for about 30 days. On 26 October 2026 Workiva's Workday board listed 97 openings and none was an internship. In plain words: you apply in late August 2027 for fall 2027, spring 2028 or summer 2028.

What Is a Workiva Internship?

A Workiva internship is a student placement at a software company that builds connected reporting, compliance and ESG reporting tools, based in Ames, Iowa. It isn't Workday, the HR and finance cloud company covered in our Workday guide, though the two names are often confused.

Workiva says internships run in fall, winter/spring and summer, and that each intern joins a team, with leaders, mentors and training around them. An Iowa State University economic development story quotes Workiva's talent acquisition team as saying it hires about 100 interns a year, with roughly 25 to 30 in software engineering and the rest across customer experience, marketing, sales and other teams. That figure is undated and university-published, so treat it as a rough scale.

When Do Workiva Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Workiva's internships FAQ gives the cycle in words: applications are posted in late August for fall, spring and summer internships, and in January for any remaining spring internships, and they're usually open for about 30 days. The summer 2027 round has run. A Product Management posting titled for Spring & Summer 2027 still exists on Workiva's Workday system but is no longer posted, and the board lists no internship at all today.

We couldn't recover the 2026 posting and closing dates, because the closed posting is unreadable. That means the dates below are projections from Workiva's stated policy. A late-August posting is about 9 to 10 months ahead of a late-May or June summer start, but Workiva doesn't publish start dates.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

That makes this a short-window page, not a rolling one. The last week of August 2027 is when to start watching the board, and the first week the roles appear is when to apply. Is the GPA a Hard Cutoff?

Workiva doesn't publish a GPA, and the only readable internship posting we saw this month was for a marketing role outside the US. Without a US posting to read, we can't say whether any role sets a floor. Workiva does advise applying only to roles that closely match your experience, which suggests relevant projects matter more than a single number.

Its talent acquisition team told Iowa State that software engineering interns contribute directly to the company's work, and some have earned spots on patents. The marketing internship posting we read earlier this month described coordinating webinars and field events, tracking campaign metrics, building pre- and post-event reports and using AI tools to speed up campaign work. Both point to hands-on project output over coursework alone.
