The Washington Commanders don't run one big intern class. They post internships one department at a time on TeamWork Online, mostly between late January and May: in 2026 that meant a Partnership Solutions intern on 27 January, a Data Analyst intern on 10 February, a training camp internship on 13 March and Community Relations summer and season-long interns on 1 May. Student rules vary by role. Training camp takes students or people within a year of graduating, but both Community Relations roles require a bachelor's degree, so they are for graduates.

As of 17 October 2026, none of the 14 postings on the Commanders' TeamWork Online page is an internship. The one student-friendly listing is a part-time Stadium Events & Operations College Program, which is a game-day job, not an internship. In plain words, expect the next internship postings between late January and May 2027, for training camp in summer 2027 and for the 2027-28 season.

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, and you can start one this month, months before the Commanders' next roles post. The Beats by Dre Creative Advertising Strategy Externship builds the deck and campaign thinking behind partnership work, and the Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy Externship builds the data and dashboard skills behind the Commanders' analytics and business intelligence roles.

What Is a Washington Commanders Internship?

A Washington Commanders internship is a paid, role-specific placement with the NFL club, posted one department at a time rather than as one named program. The team hires for itself: its careers URL redirects to its own TeamWork Online page. In 2026 the roles included Partnership Solutions, Data Analyst, Football Video, Training Camp, Summer Finance, Community Relations (summer and season-long), People Operations and Business Intelligence, spread across the front office, the BigBear.ai Performance Center in Ashburn and Northwest Stadium in Landover.

Two Commanders listings are easy to mistake for internships. The Stadium Events & Operations College Program is a part-time, seasonal game-day job for current college students or recent graduates ($16.30 an hour, 11 October 2026 to the end of January 2027), and it's open now. Training camp internships are short: about four to five weeks in Ashburn, where interns only work open practice days.

When Do Washington Commanders Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

The Commanders post internships role by role on a lead of about two to five months. In 2026 the first posting, Partnership Solutions, went up on 27 January. Data Analyst followed on 10 February for a start in early May, training camp on 13 March for late July, Summer Finance on 3 April for late May or early June, and Community Relations on 1 May. Business Intelligence came last, on 13 May.

Earlier years had the same shape but started later: in 2025 a Human Resources internship posted on 30 March, training camp on 13 May and Community Relations on 3 June. The 2026 wave started earlier than 2025's, so treat late January to May as the window and expect individual roles to appear without warning.

No internships are open. The Commanders' TeamWork Online page lists 14 jobs and none is an internship; the part-time College Program is the one listing open to current students.

Create a TeamWork Online profile and turn on alerts for the Commanders. Pick your track (partnerships, community relations, analytics, finance, HR or training camp), since each posts separately, and sort out transportation: Community Relations requires a personal vehicle.

Late January to March 2027EXPECTEDSHORT WINDOW — APPLY WEEK 1

First postings are expected, based on Partnership Solutions on 27 Jan, Data Analyst on 10 Feb and Football Video on 19 Feb in 2026. Analytics and partnerships roles came first, and some stayed up only about three weeks.

March to May 2027EXPECTEDSHORT WINDOW — APPLY WEEK 1

Training camp (13 Mar in 2026), Summer Finance (3 Apr), Community Relations summer and season-long (1 May), People Operations (9 May) and Business Intelligence (13 May) are expected. People Operations was listed for two days.

Summer 2027

Training camp runs about four to five weeks from late July to the end of August, and the 2026 Summer Finance role ran roughly 8 to 12 weeks. Season-long roles run through the 2027-28 season. The Commanders don't publish a conversion rate.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

The descriptions we read state no deadlines, but the roles come down quickly. TeamWork Online's own listing data shows the 2026 People Operations internship up for two days (9 to 11 May), Summer Finance for 11 days (3 to 14 April) and Business Intelligence for 15 days (13 to 28 May). Data Analyst lasted about three weeks and training camp about five. That's a short window, not a rolling one, and because roles post one at a time there is no single date to plan around.

Two things slow people down. Each role has its own eligibility rule, and several need a vehicle and local availability. Check TeamWork weekly from late January, keep your resume and a cover letter ready (Summer Finance asked for both), and apply within the first week.

Which Washington Commanders Internship Programs Should You Target?

The Commanders have no single named program. These are the tracks seen in 2026; any year's mix varies.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Eligibility is set role by role, so read each posting. Across the 2026 internships:

• Students welcome: training camp ("currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or within 1-year post-grad"), Summer Finance (working toward a bachelor's), People Operations and Business Intelligence (pursuing a degree) and Partnership Solutions (currently pursuing or recently graduated).

• Graduates only: both Community Relations roles require a bachelor's degree from a four-year college. The Data Analyst posting asks for a bachelor's or master's in a quantitative field.

• Location: you commute to College Park / Riverdale, MD, Ashburn, VA and Landover, MD. Community Relations requires a personal vehicle, and training camp wants reliable transportation to Ashburn.

• Hours: Summer Finance and Community Relations are full time (40 hours a week); Summer Finance is in person Monday to Thursday, and Community Relations works all home preseason and regular season games.

• Experience: Business Intelligence asks for Excel pivot tables, a dashboard tool and basic SQL; Data Analyst asks for proven analytics experience with player-tracking data and Python or R.

• GPA and work authorization: not stated in the postings we read.

Do You Need to Be a Local Student?

For training camp, practically yes. The 2026 posting was "intended for local college students and recent graduates," camp is a month of non-continuous days, and you need reliable transportation to Ashburn. The other roles are commute-based too, so out-of-state applicants should plan housing; the postings we read don't mention relocation help.

What Skills Do the Washington Commanders Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

The Commanders' 2026 internship postings stress attention to detail, communication and reporting more than named software. Seven of the eight roles ask for organization or attention to detail and seven for communication or interpersonal skills; six involve presentations or reports. The analytics roles are the technical ones. The Data Analyst posting asks for Python, R, SQL and experience with player-tracking data, and the Business Intelligence posting asks for Excel, a dashboard tool such as Power BI or Tableau, basic SQL and basic knowledge of AI tools.

For Commanders applicants: the team's TeamWork page lists no internships today and its roles post one at a time from late January, so a sales or partnerships internship elsewhere this fall is a way to build experience first.

What Is the Washington Commanders Application and Interview Process Like?

The Commanders don't publish an interview process, so this is what the postings show:

1. Create a TeamWork Online profile and turn on alerts for the Commanders. The team's careers URL redirects to its TeamWork page.

2. Apply role by role. Each posting stands alone; Summer Finance asked for a resume and a cover letter.

3. Check the eligibility line in each posting: some roles take students, others need a degree.

4. Interview. The format isn't published; expect questions on availability, since most roles involve nights, weekends or home games.

5. Plan the commute. The roles sit in College Park / Riverdale, Ashburn and Landover, and Community Relations requires a vehicle.

If you want paid stadium experience this fall, the part-time College Program is open now at $16.30 an hour through January 2027. It's a game-day job, not an internship.

What Students on Reddit Say

We found no first-hand accounts of Commanders internships on Reddit. The team-specific results were automated reposts of job ads, which aren't community experience, and the one general NFL internship thread we read, from 2015, doesn't mention the Commanders. We've left the cards out rather than pad this section.

How Do You Stand Out for a Commanders Internship?

Three moves.

First, watch TeamWork Online weekly from late January. Roles appear one at a time and some were listed for only days, so apply in the first week and keep a resume and cover letter ready.

Second, match the rule and the commute. Training camp, Summer Finance, People Operations and Business Intelligence take students; Community Relations needs a degree and a car. Say plainly how you'll get to Ashburn, College Park or Landover.

Third, show the tools the role names. Analytics roles list Python, SQL and Power BI, and the partnerships role prefers Adobe, Canva and PowerPoint, so bring a sample deck or dashboard. The Commanders don't publish class size or a conversion rate, so treat each internship as experience and a way to meet staff.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Washington Commanders internship?

No. The 2026 summer and training camp internships posted between January and May 2026 and have closed; People Operations, for example, was listed for two days. As of 17 October 2026 none of the team's 14 postings is an internship. Expect 2027 roles from late January to May 2027.

Do the Washington Commanders offer internships?

Yes, role by role on TeamWork Online rather than as one program. In 2026 they posted Partnership Solutions, Data Analyst, Football Video, Training Camp, Summer Finance, Community Relations, People Operations and Business Intelligence roles. None is open now, and each role has its own eligibility rules.

When do Commanders internship applications open for 2027?

Expect late January to May 2027. In 2026 the first posting went up on 27 January, training camp on 13 March, Community Relations on 1 May and Business Intelligence on 13 May. Roles post one at a time, so check TeamWork Online weekly and apply within the first week.

How much do Commanders interns earn?

The 2026 Community Relations internships paid $15.30 an hour for 40 or more hours a week, per an archived capture of the team's posting, and the 2025 Human Resources and Community Relations roles paid $15.00. Other 2026 roles didn't publish a rate, and we left out third-party figures.

Can current college students apply for Commanders internships?

Yes for several roles. Training camp takes students pursuing a bachelor's or master's, or people within a year of graduating, and Summer Finance, People Operations and Business Intelligence ask for students. Both Community Relations roles require a bachelor's degree, so they are for graduates.

What is the Commanders Stadium Events & Operations College Program?

It's a paid, part-time, seasonal game-day program for current college students or recent graduates, not an internship. The 2026-27 edition pays $16.30 an hour, runs from 11 October 2026 to the end of January 2027, and covers stadium events and home games across Security, Community Relations and Operations.

Where would I work as a Commanders intern?

Across three Maryland and Virginia sites. The front office is in College Park / Riverdale, MD, training camp and football roles are at the BigBear.ai Performance Center in Ashburn, VA, and gameday work is at Northwest Stadium in Landover, MD. Community Relations requires a personal vehicle.

What does a Commanders training camp internship involve?

It's four to five weeks from late July to the end of August in Ashburn, supporting fan events, hospitality, sponsorship and entertainment at open practices. Interns only work open practice days, must be pursuing a bachelor's or master's or be within a year of graduating, and need reliable transportation.

The Commanders' next roles are about three months away and some stay up only days. Use the time well: a remote Externship gives you a finished project to put next to your availability.
