Last updated: October 2026
Veolia's summer 2027 US internships are posting now. On October 25, 2026, Veolia's own SmartRecruiters board listed 16 US intern roles, posted between September 25 and October 23, most of them engineering internships at industrial customer sites and water treatment plants. The seven Field Engineering Intern postings, in Texas, Louisiana, Nebraska, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Indiana, list $21.32 to $24.21 an hour for a 12-week internship starting in May 2027. In plain words, you apply during 2026 and intern in summer 2027. Two Marketing Intern postings that went up in late September were already closed, so waiting is a real risk. This guide covers Veolia North America, including Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions in the US.
Quick Facts
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Where to apply | Veolia's SmartRecruiters board, filtered to the United States; the Early Careers page describes the SEED internship program. Search the board for "intern" and set a job alert; each site is its own posting |
| Application window (2027–28) | Summer 2027, open now: 16 US intern postings released September 25 to October 23, 2026. More postings are likely through winter, since Veolia posts site by site. Summer 2028 postings are expected from about September 2027 (one cycle of evidence, low confidence) |
| Rolling? | Yes in practice. None of the postings we read states a closing date, and two Marketing Intern postings released September 25 and 28 were no longer active on October 25 |
| Eligibility | Field Engineering: rising juniors and seniors in chemical, environmental, industrial, civil or mechanical engineering (the Marcus Hook, PA posting says rising senior). Operations and process engineering: currently enrolled or recently graduated. 10 of 16 postings say Veolia won't sponsor US work authorization. No GPA stated |
| Duration | 12 weeks, with an anticipated May 2027 start on the Field Engineering postings (the Houston posting also says 3 to 6 months). The Early Careers page describes the SEED program as 12 weeks, June to August |
| Compensation | Field Engineering $21.32 to $24.21 an hour; Procurement and Cost Accounting $18.80 to $20.91; Metershop Intern (Jersey City) $21.00. The other postings state no pay. All figures are from Veolia's postings, and the offer may be lower or higher than the range |
| Return offers | Not published. The Early Careers page lists mentorship and weekly learning sessions for SEED interns but gives no conversion rate or class size |
| Locations | Houston, Beaumont and Tomball TX; Baton Rouge LA; Lincoln NE; Decatur IL; Marcus Hook PA; Mount Vernon IN; Vandalia and Dayton OH; St. Peters MO; Glen Allen VA; Minnetonka MN; Jersey City NJ |
| # Programs | 6 groups of US postings: field engineering, operations and process engineering, R&D lab, project management, utility operations and business functions (procurement, cost accounting) |
Veolia posts its US internships site by site with no stated closing dates, and two postings from late September had already closed by October 25, so apply this month.
Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. The Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics Externship builds the process-improvement analysis Veolia's operations and procurement postings describe, and the ARCeH Data Analytics Externship gives you reporting practice with environmental health data. What Is a Veolia Internship?
A Veolia internship is a paid 12-week US summer internship at Veolia North America, the American arm of the French environmental services group Veolia Environnement. The US postings we checked come mostly from Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions, which designs and services industrial water treatment systems, plus utility operations and corporate teams. Veolia's postings describe the group as operating on five continents with nearly 218,000 employees, and its Early Careers page describes the SEED program (Student Exploration, Experience, and Development) as 12 weeks, June to August, with weekly learning sessions, site visits and mentoring. There's no single application: each site or team posts its own role, from field engineering interns to a cost accounting analyst. Veolia also runs internships and stages outside the US; they're outside this guide.

When Do Veolia Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Veolia's US postings don't arrive as one wave. The earliest summer 2027 postings we found, Procurement and Cost Accounting, were released on September 25, 2026. The seven Field Engineering postings followed on October 8 and 9, and the operations, process engineering, project management and R&D postings on October 19 to 23. For the May 2027 start in the Field Engineering postings, that's a lead time of about seven months. Each posting is its own requisition, so expect more to appear through winter rather than one deadline.
Applications for summer 2027 are open on 16 US intern postings, from Field Engineering to Cost Accounting. Two Marketing Intern postings released in late September had already closed by October 25, so don't wait for a deadline reminder.
Expected: interviews for the earliest postings and more site-level postings, since Veolia released them in several batches between September 25 and October 23. The postings state no interview dates.
Expected, low confidence: a later round of postings. A student post from April 2026 describes a Veolia Lead Service Program intern posting that opened around mid-February, with decisions due by April 30. That's one community report, not a Veolia date.
The 12-week Field Engineering internships have an anticipated start date of May 2027. Procurement and Cost Accounting postings ask for full-time availability for summer 2027.
Expected, low confidence: summer 2028 postings begin, projected from this cycle's first posting on September 25, 2026. Veolia doesn't publish its recruiting calendar, and we have only one cycle of dates.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Veolia doesn't announce closing dates, so the board is the only clock you can see. Two Marketing Intern postings, released September 25 and 28, 2026, were marked inactive on October 25, about a month after they went up, while the Field Engineering postings from October 8 to 9 were still active. Postings are per site and per team, so each can close on its own. The Field Engineering postings also say the offer may be lower or higher than the posted range, so apply early and ask about pay at the offer stage. Set a job alert on the SmartRecruiters board and apply within days of seeing a role that fits your degree.
Which Veolia Internship Programs Should You Target?
These are the six groups of US intern postings live on October 25, 2026.
| Track | Focus | Duration and pay | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Field Engineering Intern (Houston, Beaumont, Baton Rouge, Lincoln, Decatur, Marcus Hook, Mount Vernon) | Technical service at industrial customer sites: equipment inventory, preventive maintenance plans, field checks of flows, pH and chemical residuals | 12 weeks from May 2027; $21.32 to $24.21 an hour | Chemical or mechanical engineering, basic mechanical skills, Visio, teamwork |
| Operations and Process Engineering Intern (Vandalia, Dayton, St. Peters) | Ion exchange resin regeneration plant operations, ISO quality system, and training materials and SOPs for plant staff | Not stated | Chemical or mechanical engineering, technical writing, process documentation |
| R&D Laboratory Intern (Tomball, TX) | Lab experiments on crude oil and petrochemical process treatment, presented at the end of the internship | Not stated | Chemistry or chemical engineering, wet chemistry, lab safety |
| Project Management Intern (Glen Allen, VA) | Assisting project managers on municipal water treatment equipment projects, from contract to startup | Not stated | Engineering, business or economics degree, planning, communication |
| Metershop Intern (Jersey City, NJ) | Transmission and distribution work at a water and wastewater utility, under an experienced employee | $21.00 an hour | Reliability, teamwork, ability to lift 30 to 35 lbs |
| Business functions (Glen Allen, VA; Minnetonka, MN) | Procurement: supplier data, proposals, cost benchmarks. Cost Accounting Analyst: standard costs, BOM and routing review | $18.80 to $20.91 an hour | Excel, supplier analysis, cost accounting; SAP preferred |
Read the term line in each posting: titles don't say whether a role is a summer internship or something longer. Filter the board to the United States, and check the Early Careers page for the SEED program.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Veolia sets eligibility per posting, so read each one.
• Class year: Field Engineering postings ask for a rising junior or senior; the Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania posting asks for a rising senior. Operations and process engineering postings accept students currently enrolled or recently graduated.
• Degree: chemical, environmental, industrial, civil or mechanical engineering, or chemistry, for field roles; accounting or finance for Cost Accounting; supply chain, business or operations management for Procurement.
• Work authorization: 10 of the 16 postings say applicants must be eligible to work in the US immediately and that Veolia won't sponsor work authorization.
• Availability: Field Engineering, Procurement and Cost Accounting postings ask for full-time availability for summer 2027.
• GPA: none of the postings we read states a GPA floor.

Can International Students Apply?
Mostly not for these roles. Ten of the 16 postings say Veolia won't sponsor US work authorization, including all seven Field Engineering postings. The other six, including Metershop and the St. Peters and Dayton operations roles, are silent on the point, which isn't a yes. Ask a recruiter before you apply if you're on F-1 status, because the postings don't explain how Veolia treats CPT.
What Skills Does Veolia Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Veolia's postings ask for engineering fundamentals first. Of the 16 US intern postings, 10 name chemical engineering and 9 name mechanical engineering, and 15 mention communication skills. The field roles add hands-on tasks: checking pH, flows and chemical residuals, building equipment inventories and preparing system drawings. Four postings mention data analysis or analytics, and the Cost Accounting posting prefers SAP. Operations interns also write: five postings mention documentation, SOPs or training manuals.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each row maps a skill from Veolia's live postings to a remote Externship that produces a finished project.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Process improvement | Operations Engineering Intern: "identify operational problems and areas of opportunity for improvement" | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Supplier and cost analysis | Procurement Intern: "Compile supplier capability data, pricing information, and industry trends" | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Cost accounting and financial analysis | Cost Accounting Analyst Intern: reviewing standard costs for outliers and data integrity issues; SAP preferred | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis and Private Company Valuation |
| Reporting and data analysis | Field Engineering Intern: "Assist in completing monthly reporting requirements" | ARCeH Data Analytics, Health Outcomes |
None of these Externships is affiliated with Veolia. Most run about 8 weeks, so one started in November can finish before a May 2027 start.
What Is the Veolia Application and Interview Process Like?
Veolia doesn't publish a standard intern process; this combines the postings with student reports.
1. Find your site. Filter the SmartRecruiters board to the United States and search "intern"; each city or division is a separate posting.
2. Apply on SmartRecruiters. The Field Engineering postings state that Veolia doesn't use AI to screen, assess or select applicants for the role.
3. Screening and interview. A student who applied for a Lead Service Program internship in 2026 described a screening call, an interview, and then weeks of waiting. That's one account, so expect variation by team.
4. Decision. The same student was told all decisions had to be made by April 30. Plan for a long gap between applying and hearing back.
What Students on Reddit Say
Reddit posts about Veolia internships are few and mostly about timing and logistics.
A student who interviewed for a Lead Service Program internship said the posting opened around mid-February 2026, interviews were still running three weeks later, and the recruiter said every decision had to be made by April 30.
A student starting a Veolia Production Planning internship in Minnetonka, Minnesota in May 2026 asked other incoming interns to connect, which fits a May to June start. One commenter asked whether the poster was on an F-1 visa and got no reply.
A family member of a summer 2024 Milwaukee plant intern, working May 27 to August 27, asked for housing help on a $1,600-a-month budget. Commenters said that was plenty and pointed to university summer sublets and dorm housing.
How Do You Stand Out for a Veolia Internship?
First, match your degree and class year to a specific posting. The Field Engineering postings name six degrees and ask for rising juniors or seniors, and one asks for a rising senior only. Second, show hands-on process work: a lab course, a wastewater plant visit, or a project measuring flow, pH or chemical dosing. Third, show you can write, since five postings mention SOPs, training manuals or documentation. Veolia doesn't publish applicant counts or an intern-to-full-time rate, so don't rely on either.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Veolia internship?
No. Summer 2026 internships have ended, and Veolia's board now lists summer 2027 roles. Sixteen US intern postings were live on October 25, 2026, including seven Field Engineering roles. Apply to those, and check back through winter, because Veolia posts site by site and more roles may appear.
When do Veolia summer 2027 internship applications open?
They're already open. Veolia released its US summer 2027 intern postings between September 25 and October 23, 2026, in several batches. Because each site posts its own role, check the SmartRecruiters board every week or two for new ones, and set a job alert for the word intern.
How much do Veolia interns make?
Veolia's postings list $21.32 to $24.21 an hour for Field Engineering interns, $18.80 to $20.91 for Procurement and Cost Accounting, and $21.00 for the Metershop Intern. The other postings state no pay. The Field Engineering postings add that the final offer may be lower or higher than the range.
How long is a Veolia internship?
Twelve weeks for the Field Engineering postings, with an anticipated start date of May 2027. The Houston posting also says 3 to 6 months, so confirm the length with the recruiter. Veolia's Early Careers page describes its SEED summer program as 12 weeks, running June to August.
Does Veolia sponsor visas for interns?
Generally no. Ten of the 16 US intern postings, including all seven Field Engineering ones, say applicants must be eligible to work in the US immediately and that Veolia won't sponsor work authorization. The other six don't mention it. International students should ask a recruiter before applying.
Which majors can apply to Veolia internships?
Engineering majors have the most options: chemical, environmental, industrial, civil and mechanical for Field Engineering, plus chemistry for the Tomball lab role. Business majors can apply for Procurement, accounting and finance majors for Cost Accounting, and engineering, business or economics majors for Project Management.
Where are Veolia's US internships located?
Current postings span Houston, Beaumont and Tomball in Texas, Baton Rouge, Lincoln, Decatur, Marcus Hook, Mount Vernon, Vandalia, Dayton, St. Peters, Glen Allen, Minnetonka and Jersey City. Field roles are at industrial customer sites, so the exact location can matter more than the title.
Does Veolia convert interns to full-time employees?
Veolia doesn't publish a conversion rate or class size. Its Early Careers page promises mentoring, weekly learning sessions and site visits for SEED interns, and the postings describe training and career advancement. Ask your manager about full-time openings early in the 12 weeks, not in the last one.
Veolia's summer 2027 roles are open now and close as sites fill them. Apply this month, and if you want a finished project to discuss in interviews, a remote Externship can wrap up before a May 2027 start.
