Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, and one can sit on your resume before October interviews wrap up. The Pinterest Gen Z Consumer Behavior Externship builds the consumer-insight work UA's merchandising, PLM and marketing reqs describe, and the Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis Externship matches its business analytics placement.

What Is an Under Armour Internship?

An Under Armour internship is a paid 12-week summer placement in UA's Rookie Program at its Baltimore headquarters. According to the summer 2027 reqs, each Rookie owns a business-critical project, works with teams across the company and has dedicated leaders and mentors, with executive conversations and professional development built in.

The 2027 placement areas cover most of the company: Design (apparel and footwear), Apparel Development, Product Line Management, Product Innovation in the material lab, Biomechanics, Merchandising, Business Analytics, Supply Chain planning, Finance and Accounting, AI Automation, Marketing and Communications, Team Sports sales, Retail and Store Operations, Store Design, Human Resources and Community Impact.

When Do Under Armour Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Under Armour's US Rookie recruiting has moved around. The summer 2025 program was promoted in late September 2024, summer 2026 applications were publicized as open in early December 2025, and the summer 2027 reqs went live on 28 September 2026, roughly eight to nine months before a June start.

Last cycle also ran long. Summer 2026 roles were still being added in February 2026, and a Reddit finalist was still waiting on a decision in early April. Because the open date has shifted by about two months between cycles, treat the timeline below as a projection.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

There's no deadline on UA's Rookie reqs, which is exactly why timing matters. Review is rolling, hiring managers begin interviewing in October, and the reqs say interviews continue only "as positions are filled." Each placement area is a small team, so the first strong applicants take the interview slots.

The 17 October 2026 expiry shown for the design internship on a university career board is that board's 30-day listing window, not UA's deadline. Apply on UA's own site this week, and apply to every placement area that genuinely fits, since UA says candidates may be considered for several.

Which Under Armour Internship Programs Should You Target?

All 16 summer 2027 placement areas are open on UA's careers site. These six show the range:

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

The summer 2027 reqs share one eligibility block:

• Enrollment: "Currently enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate or graduate program (expected graduation between December 2027 and August 2028), or graduating in May/June 2027 and entering the program directly after graduation."

• Work authorization: 14 of the 16 reqs require authorization "to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future"; the Design and AI Automation reqs don't include that line, so ask the recruiter.

• Portfolio: required for Design ("Submit portfolio link or examples of work to be considered"); no other 2027 req asks for one.

• Location: Baltimore headquarters, hybrid or fully in office, with relocation assistance.

Is There a GPA Cutoff?

None of the 16 summer 2027 reqs mentions a GPA. The graduation window is the firm filter, along with work authorization and, for design roles, the portfolio. A May or June 2027 graduate can still apply, since the reqs explicitly allow graduating seniors who start right after commencement.

What Skills Does Under Armour Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

UA's Rookie reqs describe projects more than tools. Across the 16 placement-area descriptions, almost every one asks Rookies to work across teams, and most involve analyzing data or turning insight into a recommendation.

Three buckets stand out. Collaboration and ownership: cross-functional work on a single business-critical project. Analysis: data, trends and consumer or athlete insight, from Business Analytics to Biomechanics. Product and operations: product development, planning and process work in PLM, Apparel Development, Supply Chain and Store Design.

A finished project gives you a concrete story for the team interview, which is where UA's process puts most of its weight.

What Is the Under Armour Application and Interview Process Like?

UA's summer 2027 reqs describe the process in their own words; older Reddit threads fill in the format:

1. Apply on careers.underarmour.com to each placement area that fits. You can apply to more than one, and UA may consider you for several.

2. Rolling resume review by the recruiting team.

3. Team interviews from October. Selected candidates interview with members of the potential team; earlier cycles also used a recorded HireVue interview with behavioral questions such as why UA and your hardest project.

4. Offers as positions fill, over the following few months. Candidates not selected are told once a position is filled, "at the latest."

If you hear nothing, UA's own wording is that you're still being considered for open opportunities.

What Students on Reddit Say

Rookie applicants on Reddit mostly talk about the wait.

A Tech Design finalist for summer 2026 was still waiting on a decision in early April 2026, two weeks after a final interview, and called the program very competitive.

A UA employee hosting an intern explained in 2018 that a university recruiting team of fewer than five people works through hundreds of resumes and recorded interviews, so the process is slow, but said the Rookie Program was worth the wait.

Applicants for summer 2019 described finishing a HireVue in late December or early January and then hearing nothing for weeks. Patience was the shared theme.

How Do You Stand Out for the Under Armour Rookie Program?

UA doesn't publish applicant numbers, class size or a return-offer rate, and the most-quoted selectivity claim dates from 2018. What the current reqs reward is fit with one placement area.

First, apply early and to the right areas. Review is rolling and interviews start in October; pick the two or three placement areas your coursework actually supports.

Second, know the athlete and the consumer. Eight of the 16 placement descriptions mention consumer or athlete insight, so bring a point of view on a UA product, a competitor or a sport.

Third, prepare for team interviews. Have stories about owning a project, working across teams and using data to make a recommendation, the themes the reqs repeat most.

How long is the Under Armour Rookie Program?

Twelve weeks over the summer, according to Under Armour's Students page, which calls the Rookie Program its flagship US internship.
