SiriusXM doesn't run one summer wave like most media companies. It recruits on three separate cycles a year: Fall (September to December, applications open around June), Spring (February to April, applications open around October), and Summer (June to August, applications open around January). The Fall 2026 cohort already closed, its deadline was Sunday, July 26. So the nearest real door is Spring 2027: applications are expected to open around October 2026, about six weeks from today. Miss that one and Summer 2027 opens roughly three months later, in January 2027. There's no single date to circle on your calendar, there's a rotation of three, and reading this page in August means the summer-2027 timeline most guides assume isn't actually what's next for you.

What Is a Sirius XM Internship?

A Sirius XM internship is a paid, hands-on placement inside North America's largest audio entertainment company: the satellite radio service, Pandora's ad-supported streaming, podcast hosting through Stitcher and Simplecast, and the SXM Media ad-sales organization. SiriusXM's own job postings describe reaching approximately 150 million listeners, the largest digital audio audience across paid and free tiers in North America. Unlike most media companies, SiriusXM doesn't run one summer program, it recruits on three separate cycles a year (Fall, Spring, Summer) across tracks in Programming Operations, Podcast, Talent Relations, Software Engineering, Finance, Ad Sales and more. Interns rate the program 4.0 out of 5 on Glassdoor across 17 reviews, well above the company's overall 3.3 rating, and one Fall Sports Programming intern's own testimonial puts it plainly: "interns at SiriusXM absolutely do not just make coffee."

When Do Sirius XM Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

SiriusXM's own careers page lays out three fixed cycles: Summer (June to August, applications open in January), Fall (September to December, applications open in June), and Spring (February to April, applications open in October). The Fall 2026 cycle followed that pattern exactly: postings opened in June, and a Queens College campus newsletter documented the closing date as Sunday, July 26. So the nearest cycle for anyone reading this in August 2026 is Spring 2027: applications are expected to open around October 2026, roughly four months before the internship starts.

Now · August 2026YOU ARE HERE

SiriusXM's careers board shows zero open internship listings right now. Fall 2026 closed July 26 and Spring 2027 hasn't opened yet. This is the build window: what you finish before October decides whether your Spring 2027 application has proof behind it.

~October 2026EXPECTEDHARD DEADLINE

The Spring 2027 cycle is expected to open here, based on SiriusXM's documented pattern. Each cycle carries a real deadline rather than staying open indefinitely, Fall 2026 closed on a fixed Sunday about seven weeks after it opened, so apply the week your track posts.

January 2027EXPECTED

The Summer 2027 cycle is expected to open around here, about three months after Spring. If Spring 2027 doesn't work out for your schedule, this is the next real door, not a full year away.

Spring / Summer 2027

Spring 2027 interns start in February, Summer 2027 interns start in June. Either way you're paid and placed on a real team inside one of the dozen-plus tracks, not a generic rotation.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

SiriusXM doesn't run an open-ended rolling window, each cycle has a real closing date. The clearest evidence is the Fall 2026 cycle: postings opened in June, and a campus career newsletter tracking the program documented the deadline as Sunday, July 26, about seven weeks after it opened. That's a short runway for a program spanning a dozen-plus tracks and several cities, and a firm date beats waiting to see if a role is still posted. Treat each cycle's opening date as the moment to act, not a soft target. Applying in week one of the Spring 2027 window, expected around October 2026, puts your resume in front of the most reviewers and the most open seats across whichever track you're targeting.

Which Sirius XM Internship Programs Should You Target?

SiriusXM's three annual cycles fan out into a dozen-plus functional tracks. Which one to target depends on whether you want to be closer to the audio (Programming, Podcast), the business side (Talent Relations, Finance, Ad Sales), or the product and engineering side (Software Engineering, Technology).

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Every SiriusXM intern posting we read states the same core bar:

Enrollment: current student at a university (most postings prefer you're graduating within about a year of the internship) or a recent graduate within 12 months of the start date, including one-year broadcasting-school certificate programs.

Age: 18 or older, stated explicitly on multiple postings.

GPA: no minimum GPA appears on SiriusXM's early-career FAQ or on any of the seven job descriptions we read in full.

Work authorization: every posting requires "legal right to work in the U.S." No posting mentions visa sponsorship for interns.

Academic credit: optional. SiriusXM's own FAQ says you can receive credit hours, but "it is not a requirement of our program."

Does Sirius XM Have a GPA Cutoff?

No published one anywhere we could find, not on the early-career FAQ, not on any of the seven postings across Programming, Podcast, Talent Relations, Engineering, Finance and Client Services. That's a real absence, not an omission we missed, other media companies in this guide series do publish a floor, and SiriusXM simply doesn't. What the postings gate on instead: enrollment status, the 18-plus age line, and legal work authorization. Beyond that, selection reads as fit and track-specific skill, communication and a named major help on the content tracks, while the Software Engineering track expects real coding experience even without a stated GPA line.

What Skills Does Sirius XM Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Seven real SiriusXM intern postings across five tracks, Music Programming, Client Services, Podcast Marketing, Software Engineering and Talent Relations, spanning the 2022 to 2025 cycles, show a consistent core. Written and verbal communication and MS Office proficiency each appear in 4 of 7. Attention to detail and interpersonal skills also show up in 4 of 7. Where the postings diverge is the track-specific technical bar: the Engineering posting names TypeScript, GraphQL and React; Finance names Blackline, Alteryx and Tableau; Programming names digital editing and broadcast automation software. A generalist can clear the soft-skill bar. The technical tracks still expect the tools that go with the job.

How Is Demand for Media Interns Moving Right Now?

3,901 US entertainment-sector internship postings live over the past 60 days across 607 companies. This is this tracker's baseline month for media, so there's no month-over-month comparison yet.
Social media platforms is the single most common named skill outside communication and a media-related major, 36.9% of media-employer postings, jumping to 58.3% once you count social/content roles at non-media employers too.
$17.00/hr median employer-stated pay for a media-function internship at a media company (66 postings with a stated rate, out of 205). SiriusXM's own documented Podcast Marketing rate, $18/hr, sits right above that.
=
A quarter of media-employer listings in the index (25.3%) are over a year old. Broadcast and publisher ATS feeds keep evergreen intern postings live, so posting volume reads as "in the index," not "accepting applications this week."

August 2026 is this tracker's baseline, so the real signal is level, not direction: media hiring runs on a long tail of hundreds of small and mid-size employers, and SiriusXM's own $15 to $18/hr range for content tracks sits right at the market median.

Method: aggregate analysis of US media/entertainment-sector intern postings via hiring.cafe, August 2026 baseline (Adzuna cross-check only, never a source for skills or pay). Sample indexes under half of all US postings; figures show direction and relative level, not total market share.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Every skill in that chart maps to a remote Externship you can finish before the Spring 2027 window opens.

What Is the Sirius XM Application and Interview Process Like?

SiriusXM's hiring pattern, pieced together from Glassdoor and applicant reports, moves faster than a bank's and slower than a pure rolling board:

1. Apply through careers.siriusxm.com during your target cycle's window. Search or filter by "Internships" and pick a track that matches skills you can already show.

2. HireVue one-way video screen. Several applicants report a self-recorded video interview as the first step, standard questions about your background and what you want to learn.

3. Recruiter or team-lead interview. Some report a roughly 30-minute HR phone screen followed by a Zoom conversation with the department manager; others describe one longer, about 60-minute, conversation with a team lead covering the team, the work and how the internship runs.

4. Second round for competitive tracks. A Reddit report for Product Management describes a distinct second-round interview with the hiring team.

5. Offer. One applicant reported that once a recruiter reached out after the HireVue step, the process moved fast, an offer inside about two weeks.

Common interview questions include "share what you know about SiriusXM + Pandora and why you're interested in our internship program." Glassdoor reviewers describe the tone as personality-driven, interviewers weigh willingness to learn over prior experience. We found no standardized coding test for non-technical tracks; the Software Engineering track's own JD stresses "solid software development skills," so expect a technical conversation there even without a formal published assessment.

How Do You Stand Out Across Three Recruiting Cycles a Year?

Three moves, all doable before October. First, pick your cycle deliberately. SiriusXM doesn't force you into one summer race, if Spring 2027 doesn't work, Summer 2027 is only three months behind it, so target the window that fits your semester rather than defaulting to summer. Second, build proof in the track's own vocabulary: a portfolio of social posts and short video for Programming or Podcast, a small analytics project for Client Services or Finance, a coding sample for Software Engineering. A remote Externship is a fast way to produce that evidence before a posting even opens. Third, move the week your cycle opens, the Fall 2026 window closed on a firm Sunday deadline seven weeks after it opened, and individual roles inside a cycle can fill before that date. Since academic credit isn't required (SiriusXM says so directly), don't let a missing credit letter hold you back the way it does at some peer companies, that filter simply isn't here.

What Other Companies Should You Consider?

SiriusXM's peer set splits by what you're chasing: the audio-industry neighbors competing for the same content and product talent, or the streaming-first player building a different kind of internship program.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a Fall 2026 Sirius XM internship?

No. The Fall 2026 cycle closed Sunday, July 26, 2026. The next real door is Spring 2027 (February to April), with applications expected to open around October 2026. Join SiriusXM's Talent Community for the alert.

When do Sirius XM internship applications open for 2027-2028?

SiriusXM runs three cycles a year. Spring 2027 applications are expected to open around October 2026, Summer 2027 around January 2027, and Fall 2027 around June 2027. All three dates are projected from SiriusXM's documented pattern.

Is Sirius XM internship hiring rolling?

Not in an open-ended sense. Each of the three cycles opens on a set month and closes on a real date, Fall 2026 closed on a fixed Sunday about seven weeks after opening. Apply the week your target cycle opens rather than waiting.

Does Sirius XM require a minimum GPA for internships?

No GPA minimum appears on SiriusXM's early-career FAQ or on any of the seven job descriptions we read across five tracks. The real gates are enrollment status, being 18 or older, and US work authorization.

What is the Sirius XM internship interview process like?

Applicants commonly report a self-recorded HireVue video screen first, followed by either a recruiter phone screen plus a manager Zoom call, or one longer team-lead conversation. Competitive tracks like Product Management add a second round. One applicant reported an offer about two weeks after the HireVue step.

Does Sirius XM give interns a return offer?

SiriusXM doesn't publish a conversion rate, and no reliable community figure surfaced. The program is positioned as skill and network building across a dozen-plus tracks, not a guaranteed pipeline to full-time.

What skills does Sirius XM look for in interns?

Across seven real postings, written and verbal communication, MS Office and attention to detail each appear in 4 of 7. Beyond that it's track-specific: TypeScript and React for Software Engineering, Blackline and Tableau for Finance, digital editing and broadcast automation software for Programming.

How much does a Sirius XM internship pay?

$15 to $18/hr on most content, marketing and business tracks based on 2025 postings; $37 to $40/hr on the Software Engineering track. Glassdoor's aggregate average across all intern titles is about $19/hr.

Three cycles a year means three real chances, and the nearest one, Spring 2027, opens around October 2026. Spend the weeks before that building proof: a remote Externship turns interest in audio, content or data into a finished project you can point to the moment the window opens.
