Nine team-specific roles went live on its Workday board between 22 and 30 September 2026, from Financial Planning and Budget to Patient Access, Investments and Risk Management & Insurance, and all nine were open on 3 October 2026. The program runs eight weeks, 1 June to 23 July 2027, in New York City. It's only for rising seniors who graduate in 2028, and NYP says it wants students drawn to the business of healthcare, not future investment bankers. No posting lists a deadline. You apply this fall, you intern in summer 2027.

A second door opened on 2 October 2026: a Community & Population Health Intern posting for summer (7 June to 13 August 2027) and academic-year placements, paying $21 an hour and requiring a bachelor's degree.

What Is a NewYork-Presbyterian Internship?

A NewYork-Presbyterian internship usually means the paid Finance Internship Program: eight weeks in New York City where an undergraduate joins one finance team, works on a project and presents it to senior leadership at the end of the summer.

The postings describe a program built around hospital operations, not markets. Each intern gets a mentor hand-picked from Finance, tours of NYP campuses, a few hours a week of volunteering at the hospital, sessions with senior leaders and networking events. The postings say plainly that the program isn't intended for students who want investment banking or have only a pure finance interest.

NYP is the academic health system affiliated with Columbia and Weill Cornell, and it also runs a Community & Population Health internship program and hosts the Flynn Oncology Nursing Fellowship for nursing students.

When Do NewYork-Presbyterian Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

NYP's finance program has one wave a year. The summer 2027 roles went up in batches on 22, 23, 25, 29 and 30 September 2026, about eight months before the 1 June 2027 start. Last year's Financial Planning posting carried a 12 November 2025 date on a university job board, so this cycle opened roughly seven weeks earlier. That mirror date is a lower bound, not NYP's own posting date.

Nursing students run on a different clock. The Flynn Foundation says its fellowship applications typically open in early December and close by the end of January, and NYP's 2027 listing still reads "Coming Soon."

The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

NYP publishes no deadline, which leaves two risks: no date to plan around, and no guarantee a team's role is still open later in the fall. The finance roles also opened about seven weeks earlier than last year's mirror date suggests, so last year's timing is a poor guide.

The class-year rule narrows the field. Only rising seniors graduating in 2028 qualify, so if that's you, this is your one shot at this program. A 2029 graduate should wait for the next wave rather than apply now.

Local candidates have an edge. Every posting says roles are on-site, that you should live within commuting distance and that NYP won't reimburse travel. Community posts also say NYP's corporate hiring often favors people already inside the system, which is another reason to apply early and tailor each application to one team.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

These rules come from the live postings and NYP's program pages:

• Finance class year: "a rising senior undergraduate student who graduates in 2028", enrolled in a bachelor's program. This is the hard gate.

• Finance majors: accounting, health or hospital administration, economics, finance, statistics, business administration or public health are named; Investments requires a business-related major such as finance, accounting, economics, statistics or mathematics.

• Finance skills: strong Excel, PowerPoint, finance or accounting coursework, and an interest in healthcare.

• Community health: a completed bachelor's degree is required; enrollment in a graduate program is preferred.

• Location: all roles are on-site; you should live within commuting distance, and NYP won't reimburse travel.

• GPA and work authorization: neither appears in the postings we read.

Can You Apply If You Graduate in 2027 or 2029?

Not for the finance program. The postings say eligible candidates must be rising seniors who graduate in 2028, so a 2027 graduate is too late and a 2029 graduate should wait for the summer 2028 wave, expected around September to November 2027.

If you already hold a bachelor's degree, the Community & Population Health internship is the realistic door, since it requires the degree and prefers graduate students.

What Is the NewYork-Presbyterian Application and Interview Process Like?

NYP doesn't publish an interview format for interns. This is what the postings and careers site show:

1. Search the exact title. Type "Summer 2027 Finance Internship Program" on careers.nyp.org. A plain "intern" keyword search on the site has missed these roles before.

2. Pick your team or teams. Each of the nine roles is a separate Workday requisition with its own project. For community health, one application covers all areas and you choose one program.

3. Apply through Workday. Upload a résumé that shows Excel, finance or accounting courses and a reason you care about hospital operations.

4. Interviews. The format isn't published. Reddit posts about NYP nursing hires describe an HR screen, then a conversation with the unit manager, then a reference check; finance interviews may differ.

5. Offer and onboarding. Paid roles are employment, so expect standard pre-employment steps before June 2027.

Three moves for this cycle.

First, sell healthcare, not banking. The postings say the program isn't for students who only want investment banking. Explain why hospital finance interests you: how a service line makes money, why length of stay matters or what patient access does to revenue.

Second, match the team. Budget fits accounting coursework, Financial Planning and Medical Group fit analytics, Post Acute Care and Patient Access fit operations, and Investments needs a real interest in markets. Two well-matched applications beat nine generic ones.

Third, show the Excel. Every finance posting asks for advanced Excel and intermediate PowerPoint, and every intern presents a project at the end of the summer. A short example of a model or deck you've built gives an interviewer something concrete to ask about.

NYP doesn't publish a finance intern conversion rate, so treat the summer as experience first.
