GDIT, General Dynamics Information Technology, has 20 summer 2027 internship requisitions open as of 29 October 2026 (17 on 26 October; four were added on 28 October, and the Government Compliance posting closed on its 28 October end date). They sit on a separate early-talent Workday site, not on GDIT's main job board, which listed about 1,300 roles on the same day and none of them an internship. In plain words, you apply this fall to intern in summer 2027.
The GDIT Summer Internship Program is paid, full time and 10 weeks, and the postings state hourly bands from $15.83 to $37.11 depending on role and location. GDIT says it reviews applications on a rolling basis and aims to follow up within two weeks, so apply while the roles are listed.
What Is a GDIT Internship?
A GDIT internship is a paid, 10-week, full-time summer role at General Dynamics Information Technology, the government IT and mission-services business of General Dynamics (see our General Dynamics internship guide). GDIT calls it the GDIT Summer Internship Program, and it runs separately from the internship programs at General Dynamics' other businesses.
GDIT's postings say interns work alongside GDIT professionals on client work, team up with peers to propose a solution to a business challenge, join a mentoring circle and meet GDIT leaders. The 17 roles this cycle range from AI and machine learning software development and cybersecurity to finance, tax, compliance, human resources and sales engineering. GDIT says it supports government, defense and intelligence customers; the intern postings describe the duties of each role and not the programs the work supports.
When Do GDIT Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
GDIT's early-talent site shows the cycle already under way. Workday records for the first 17 postings give creation dates of 23 September 2026 (four AI, cybersecurity and software roles in Bossier City), 26 September (four more), 29 September and 1 October (finance and tax in Herndon), and a second wave from 20 to 23 October (Falls Church roles and one HR role). Four more went up on 28 October (two financial analyst roles, knowledge management and a New Jersey software role), the same day the Government Compliance posting closed. New postings are still arriving weekly.
That's a lead time of about 7 to 8 months before a typical June start, though GDIT's postings give no calendar start date. We couldn't recover GDIT's summer 2026 posting dates from its own pages, so the pattern rests on one observed cycle.
All 20 summer 2027 requisitions are open on the early-talent site. GDIT reviews on a rolling basis and aims to follow up within two weeks, so apply to the roles that fit this week. Government Compliance closed on its 28 October end date; four new postings went up the same day.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
GDIT's evidence points to rolling review. Every posting we read says GDIT receives a high volume of applications, reviews them on a rolling basis and encourages applying as soon as possible. The one posting with an end date, Government Compliance, closed on 28 October 2026 and was gone from the site the same day; that is how these postings end, without a warning banner.
Three practical points follow. Apply on the early-talent site, not the main board. Pick the posting whose pay band, location and field match you, since three AI and machine learning software postings are identical and two Sales Engineering postings are identical, which is a count of postings and not of seats. And check eligibility lines first: most postings ask for a minimum of one semester left after the internship.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
These requirements come from the 17 postings:
• Enrollment: currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's program at a United States-based college or university. The Sales Engineering postings are bachelor's or master's only.
• Time left: a minimum of one semester remaining in your studies after the internship, on 16 of the 17 postings read on 26 October (Government Compliance, which also asked for senior-year standing, closed on 28 October). The four postings added on 28 October carry the same one-semester rule.
• Fields: STEM for the technology roles; finance, statistics, accounting or economics for finance roles; human resources or psychology for the HR role.
• Experience: all postings list 0 or more years of related experience, so no prior internship is required.
• Clearance and citizenship: the structured fields on all 17 postings list no clearance needed now or to obtain, and US citizenship required: No. Sponsorship isn't available on 15 of 17 postings, and the two Sales Engineering postings list "US Person" as a must-have.
Is the GPA a Hard Cutoff?
None of the 17 postings states a GPA, so there's no published cutoff to treat as hard. What the postings do state in writing is the enrollment rule, the semester-remaining rule and, for most, a short list of must-have skills such as basic Microsoft Office skills and, for technical roles, a programming language or data science fundamentals.
