Curtiss-Wright doesn't run one national summer internship. Each business unit hires its own interns and co-ops on a shared Workday careers board, and on 3 October 2026 that board carried 364 open requisitions, 9 of them US student roles across five sites in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and Texas. A tenth, an engineering internship in Charlotte, North Carolina, closed between 28 September and 3 October.

In plain words: the roles open today are spring 2027 assignments, internships with no start term on the posting, and Pittsburgh co-ops for spring, summer and fall, while internships titled for summer 2027 are expected to post around March to mid-May 2027. Curtiss-Wright is a defense-heavy manufacturer: $2.45 billion of its $3.50 billion in 2025 sales came from aerospace and defense markets, and its units make pumps, valves and electronics for US Navy submarines and carriers.

Curtiss-Wright's site roles ask for practical work, from supplier spend dashboards to CAD drawings and shop-floor improvements, so a finished project gives you something concrete to point to. Externships are short, remote programs where you complete a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks. The Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics Externship fits the supply chain and operations roles, and the Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis Externship fits the purchasing and cost-analysis work. What Is a Curtiss-Wright Internship?

A Curtiss-Wright internship is a paid, on-site placement inside one of the company's business units, usually about three months long, though some sites run six-month assignments and semester co-ops. The company's Students and New Grads page describes "various co-op, Internship and Apprenticeship programs" run at sites around the world, and each unit writes its own reqs.

That makes the work very site-specific. At Target Rock on Long Island, whose first valves went into the USS Nautilus, interns build CAD models and drawings for naval nuclear valves. At EMD near Pittsburgh, which makes pumps and motors for the US Navy and commercial nuclear plants, co-ops rotate through design, stress and thermal, manufacturing and supply chain. In the Cleveland area, interns work on purchasing and supply chain for nuclear and valve businesses. Curtiss-Wright reported about 8,800 employees in its 2024 annual report.

When Do Curtiss-Wright Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Curtiss-Wright's site internships post on a short lead. Last cycle, its summer 2026 reqs went up between 2 March and 14 May 2026 at sites from Idaho Falls to Long Island, a few weeks to about three months before their summer starts. A six-month spring co-op in Aston, Pennsylvania posted in October 2025 for a March 2026 start. That's only one dated cycle, so treat the projection as medium-low confidence: site internships for summer 2027 are expected to post around early March to mid-May 2027. Separately, the Pittsburgh (EMD) co-op reqs stay open year-round for spring, summer and fall terms, and EMD says it typically recruits "at least one semester before you would start", so EMD applications for summer 2027 belong in this fall or early 2027.

Nine US student roles are open right now: a January to June 2027 purchasing internship in Ohio, five site internships with no start term on the posting, and EMD's spring, summer and fall co-op reqs. Apply to the ones you can do, and confirm the start date with the recruiter.

Build proof while you apply: the Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy Externship for supply chain and operations, or the Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense Externship for electronics and connected-hardware students.
October 2026 to January 2027

Apply to the EMD Pittsburgh co-op a semester ahead of your start. Line up a co-op office contact, since Curtiss-Wright's students page tells applicants to check with their school's student program representative.

Early March to mid-May 2027EXPECTEDROLLING — APPLY WEEK 1

Site internships for summer 2027 are expected to post, unit by unit, projected from last year's 2 March to 14 May spread. Each req stays up only until filled, often for a few weeks before a summer start, so check the board weekly from March.

Late May to June 2027EXPECTED

Summer internships start, generally about three months long. Spring 2027 assignments that began in January run to June.

Summer 2027

On-site work at a single unit: CAD and drawings, inspection, supply chain analysis or manufacturing improvements. Curtiss-Wright says many former students are hired full time but doesn't publish a rate.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Curtiss-Wright's student reqs roll, with no deadline on any of the nine live today. The risk is how short they stay up. Each site usually posts one or two reqs, and last cycle many summer roles appeared only weeks before their start, so a req can fill and disappear inside a month. The Charlotte engineering internship that was live on 28 September was gone by 3 October.

That means two habits. Apply within days of a req appearing, and check the board every week from March 2027, when summer 2027 site roles are expected. For the Pittsburgh co-ops, apply a full semester ahead, which EMD states in its own reqs.

Which Curtiss-Wright Internship Programs Should You Target?

These are the nine US student reqs live on 3 October 2026, grouped by unit. Each unit hires on its own.

Engineer InternGrand Prairie, TX (Surface Technologies)Not stated on posting$18-$19/hr

Search all of them on the Curtiss-Wright Workday board. The Brecksville req still carries a line about programs "beginning August 2026", an old template line, so ask the recruiter for the real start date.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

There's no company-wide rule. These requirements come from the nine live reqs:

• Degree: a four-year engineering bachelor's (mechanical or nuclear preferred) at Target Rock; mechanical or manufacturing engineering students in their 2nd to 4th year in Texas; an associate's or bachelor's in supply chain, business, engineering, data analytics or finance for the Ohio supply chain roles. The Inspector Intern needs a high school or trade school diploma.

• Citizenship: "Must be a US citizen" on all three Target Rock (Long Island) reqs. Two reqs add that "All applicants must be U.S. persons" under ITAR or EAR export rules.

• Export-control screening: all nine reqs warn that an offer can be withdrawn if security screening shows you can't access export-controlled information.

• GPA: none of the nine live reqs states a minimum.

• Clearance: no intern req mentions a security clearance.

Can International Students Get a Curtiss-Wright Internship?

It's hard, and it depends on the site. Target Rock's reqs require US citizenship, and the Ohio nuclear purchasing role requires U.S.-person status, so those are closed to students on F-1 visas. The Texas, Brecksville and EMD reqs don't state a citizenship rule, but every req carries the export-control screening clause, and none says anything about visa sponsorship. Ask the recruiter before applying if you'll need sponsorship.

What Skills Does Curtiss-Wright Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Because each unit writes its own reqs, the skills split into two clusters. Engineering roles want mechanical or nuclear engineering students who can produce CAD models and drawings (SolidWorks in Texas; NX at Target Rock), read blueprints and work on the shop floor; the Texas req even asks for design-and-build team experience such as robot or human-powered-vehicle teams. Supply chain roles want Excel pivot tables, Power BI dashboards and ERP systems such as Infor LN. Across both, continuous improvement (Kaizen, 5S, lean) shows up repeatedly.

What Is the Curtiss-Wright Application and Interview Process Like?

Curtiss-Wright doesn't publish an intern interview process. This is what its pages and reqs say:

1. Search by site, not by year. Most intern reqs carry no year in the title, so filter the Workday board by location and unit.

2. Apply to each site separately. Units hire on their own, so applying to two or three sites isn't duplication.

3. Use your co-op office. The students page tells applicants to check with their school's student program representative.

4. Interview with the unit. Interview formats aren't published for interns; one full-time EMD candidate on Reddit described about six rounds, which may not apply to students.

5. Export-control screening. Every req says an offer can be reconsidered or withdrawn if screening shows you can't access export-controlled information.

For the EMD co-op, name the department you want; the reqs list Defense, Commercial Nuclear, Stress and Thermal, Manufacturing Engineering, Buyer, Contracts and Supply Chain Data Analyst roles.

What Students on Reddit Say

Reddit has only two useful Curtiss-Wright threads, both about the EMD site near Pittsburgh; full-time comments are labeled.

A former intern in EMD's AP1000 manufacturing group said he learned a lot about the industry. When he asked to join a reactor coolant pump design team for a second internship, he was told EMD usually doesn't place interns in its design groups.

A Pitt sophomore weighing offers held an EMD co-op starting in supplier quality, with three rotations in total, at about $19 an hour against $25 at a robotics internship. Replies said you can leave a co-op early, but you'll burn a bridge.

Full-time candidates describe an intense EMD process, one of about six rounds, and say regular employees there need a security clearance that can take up to a year. One commenter summed up the site as arrogant but stable.

How Do You Stand Out for a Curtiss-Wright Internship?

Three moves that fit a decentralized employer.

Match the site, not the brand. A Target Rock req wants valve CAD and drawings, a Surface Technologies req wants 3D printing and SolidWorks, and the Ohio roles want Power BI and ERP. Write a version of your resume for each site you apply to, using that req's words.

Show you can work on a shop floor. The Texas req asks for design-and-build team experience, and EMD's co-op list includes Kaizen and 5S work. A student-team build, a machine shop course or a lean project gives the hiring manager something real to ask about.

Treat the Farris internship as an audition. Its req says you "must first be hired as a Supply Chain Intern" to be a strong candidate for its two-year, four-rotation program. Curtiss-Wright publishes no applicant counts or conversion rate, but that pathway is spelled out in writing.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Curtiss-Wright internship?

No. The summer 2026 site reqs posted between March and May 2026, and the ones we checked are now closed. What's open instead are nine US student roles: spring 2027 and unstated-term internships plus the Pittsburgh co-ops. Summer 2027 site internships are expected to post around March to mid-May 2027.

When do Curtiss-Wright summer internships open?

Site internships for summer 2027 are expected to post between about early March and mid-May 2027. That projection comes from last cycle, when summer 2026 reqs went up between 2 March and 14 May 2026. It's one dated cycle, so check the Workday board weekly from March.

How much do Curtiss-Wright interns make?

The six live intern reqs that publish pay list $18 to $25 an hour: $18 to $19 in Grand Prairie, Texas, $18 to $25 across three Long Island reqs, and $20 for the two Cleveland-area supply chain roles. The three Pittsburgh co-op reqs don't state any pay, so ask the recruiter.

Do I need to be a US citizen for a Curtiss-Wright internship?

It depends on the site. All three Target Rock reqs on Long Island say "Must be a US citizen", and two reqs require U.S.-person status under export rules. Every req warns that export-control screening can lead to a withdrawn offer, so check the specific req before applying.

Is there one Curtiss-Wright internship program?

No. Each business unit posts its own intern and co-op reqs on a single Workday board. On 3 October 2026 that meant nine US student roles across five sites in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and Texas, each with its own requirements, pay and start date.

How long is a Curtiss-Wright internship?

Curtiss-Wright says the intern and co-op program is generally about three months long but varies by function. One live Ohio role runs six months, from January to June 2027, at 24 to 40 hours a week, and the Pittsburgh co-ops run for full semesters.

Does Curtiss-Wright hire interns outside engineering?

Yes. Two Cleveland-area roles cover purchasing, supply chain and operations and accept business, supply chain, data analytics or finance majors. The Pittsburgh co-op list also includes Buyer, Contracts Administration, Accounting and Supply Chain Data Analyst positions alongside its engineering roles.

Do Curtiss-Wright interns get full-time offers?

Curtiss-Wright says many former students are hired full time, but it doesn't publish a conversion rate. The clearest path is at Farris in Ohio, whose supply chain internship is the stated entry route to a two-year rotational program with four six-month rotations.

Nine Curtiss-Wright student roles are open now, and summer 2027 site internships are expected from March 2027. Use the gap to finish a remote Externship project you can bring to a site interview.
