CAI (Computer Aid, Inc.) is a privately held IT services firm in Allentown, Pennsylvania that describes itself in its job postings as having "over 9,000 associates worldwide and a yearly revenue of $1.3 billion+." It ranked #24 on America's Best Employers for New Grads 2026 from Forbes and Statista.
On 6 October 2026 its intern jobs page had 10 live roles for its summer 2027 Internship eXperience Program (IXP), seven of them remote, after one Business Analyst req closed on its October 5 end date. In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, you intern in summer 2027. CAI publishes no deadline, and its intern postings can disappear within two weeks.
What Is a CAI Internship?
A CAI internship is a paid, nine-week summer role in the company's Internship eXperience Program (IXP), where juniors work 40 hours a week on business, data, technology or cybersecurity tasks for CAI's public-sector and commercial clients. Most roles are remote within the US.
IXP adds structure around the work. The 2027 reqs list a community outreach project with other interns, the Executive Connections Program with CAI's leadership, and public speaking and social events. Several roles support state health and human services programs, such as child welfare and child support.
CAI also leads with its neurodiversity practice and calls itself one of the "trailblazers in bringing neurodiversity to the enterprise," per its about page.

When Do CAI Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
CAI posts its summer intern wave in September. Last cycle, the summer 2026 Java Developer Intern listed June 1 to July 31, 2026 dates and had already been pulled from job boards by 11 September 2025. This cycle, the first summer 2027 reqs posted on 15 September 2026, and the board grew from 8 intern reqs on 28 September to 13 on 3 October, including a new HR Intern and two Business Analyst Interns in Newark, Delaware.
Postings also close fast. The summer 2027 Data Analyst Intern (R8452) posted around 15 September now returns Workday's closed-requisition response, while a second Data Analyst req (R8551) is still live.
Applications for summer 2027 are open right now: 10 IXP reqs on 6 October 2026, seven remote. One of the two Business Analyst Intern reqs in Newark, DE closed on its October 5, 2026 End Date; the other is still live. The two part-time remote cybersecurity training roles that were posted on 3 October are no longer listed.
Summer 2027 reqs close without a posted date, sometimes within two weeks. New reqs may still appear, as five did in the first days of October. Check the intern jobs page weekly and apply the week a role posts.
CAI doesn't publish its interview or offer calendar. Expect decisions on summer 2027 seats to follow soon after each req closes, with onboarding before the June start.
IXP runs June 7 to August 6, 2027: nine weeks, 40 hours a week, with the Executive Connections Program and a team outreach project. CAI says 90% of interns receive full-time offers.
Summer 2028 IXP reqs expected to post, based on the September 2025 and September 2026 waves.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
CAI doesn't run a rolling window or publish a deadline. It runs short windows. The summer 2027 Data Analyst Intern (R8452) posted around 15 September 2026 was closed by 28 September, and last cycle's Java Developer Intern disappeared from Built In on 11 September 2025, early in its wave.
The pattern is consistent: a req goes up, collects applications for a week or two, and comes down. Several reqs were also re-posted on 1 and 2 October, so a role you missed may reappear, but you can't plan on it. Apply the same week you see a CAI posting.
Which CAI Internship Programs Should You Target?
Every IXP role shares the same dates and eligibility bar; the work and location differ. The 13 intern reqs live on 3 October 2026 (by 6 October, one Newark Business Analyst req and both part-time cybersecurity roles had come down):
| Role | Focus | Work model | Pay (posted) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Data Analyst Intern | Analytics and reporting for health and human services programs; Excel, SQL, Power BI or Tableau | Remote | Not stated |
| Business Analyst Intern (2 reqs) | Gathering and analyzing business requirements with project leaders | Hybrid, 3 days a week in Newark, DE | $20/hr on one req; one of the two reqs closed on its Oct 5, 2026 End Date |
| Business Operations, Business Tech and Program Analyst Interns | Business operations, technology support and public-sector program analysis | Remote | $17/hr |
| Proposal and Technical Solutions Analyst, Functional Support Analyst Interns | Proposal writing and solutioning; functional and ERP support | Remote | $20/hr |
| HR Intern and Marketing Events Intern | HR operations; event planning and marketing | HR remote; Marketing hybrid in Allentown, PA | Marketing $17/hr; HR not stated |
| Cybersecurity Analyst Intern (Irvine) | Security operations alongside CAI's cybersecurity team | On-site, Irvine, CA | $20/hr |
| Cybersecurity and Cloud Security Analyst Interns (part-time) | Structured training in a simulated client environment, AWS-based | Remote, part-time; no term dates posted; no longer listed on 6 Oct 2026 | $20/hr |
The two part-time cybersecurity roles sit outside IXP: they don't list summer dates or the junior and 3.5 GPA bar, and they're open to students or recent graduates of related programs. Read the IXP page for the program overview.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Across the 11 summer 2027 IXP reqs live on 3 October 2026:
• Class year: "Current Junior" on every IXP req, so you should be in your junior year now and a rising senior in summer 2027.
• GPA: "3.5 GPA or higher" on every IXP req.
• Work authorization: most reqs state the position "does not offer work authorization sponsorship now or in the future", and remote work "must be performed within the United States."
• Availability: 40 hours a week during core business hours for the full nine weeks, June 7 to August 6, 2027.
• Major: varies by role, for example Data Analytics, Statistics, Health Informatics or Economics for the Data Analyst Intern.

Is the 3.5 GPA a Hard Cutoff?
It's written as a requirement, not a preference. Every IXP req puts "Current Junior with a 3.5 GPA or higher" under "Required," which is a higher bar than most IT services internships. If you're a sophomore or below 3.5, the two part-time cybersecurity training roles don't carry that line, and next September's summer 2028 wave is the realistic IXP target.

Recruiting timelines differ by class year, so we compare you with the right group.
Which group is your school closest to?
Firms recruit on campus in tiers. We match you against admits from schools like yours.

Almost every software intern in our data studied one of these. Other majors get in, but the coursework has to show elsewhere.
How many internships, externships or research positions have you held so far?
Count anything with a real employer, mentor or principal investigator attached. Retail and food service do not count.
Has any of that experience been tech-related?
Software, data, IT, engineering or a research lab. Any size of company counts.
Do you have at least one project on your resume or LinkedIn?
Personal, class, hackathon or open-source projects all count.

What Skills Does CAI Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
The IXP reqs share a template, so the core skills repeat across roles, with role-specific tools layered on top.
Office tools and organization. Seven of 11 ask for Microsoft Office, including Excel, and seven ask you to organize tasks logically. Communication and writing. Six ask for strong written and verbal communication, and six mention professional writing or documentation. Role-specific tools. The Data Analyst Intern lists pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SQL and Power BI or Tableau, while the cybersecurity reqs name Linux, SIEM and AWS.

Method: keyword count over the full text of the 11 summer 2027 IXP requisitions live on CAI's Workday board (CXS endpoint) on 3 Oct 2026. The reqs share one template, so program-wide lines repeat; the two part-time cybersecurity training roles are excluded.
How Is Demand for Data and Business Analyst Interns Moving Right Now?
Data analyst intern postings · Sep vs Aug 2026
vs 37 in August
Remote analyst internships are scarce, and CAI's close within weeks. If you meet the junior and 3.5 GPA bar, apply in October.
Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size.
Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each role maps to a remote Externship you can finish while your CAI application is in review.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Data analysis for health and human services | Data Analyst Intern: analytics and reporting for behavioral health, child welfare and child support programs | TruBridge Healthcare Data Analytics |
| Cybersecurity operations | Cybersecurity Analyst Intern: vulnerability assessment, incident response, system hardening | Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense |
| Business analysis and operations | Business Analyst and Business Operations Interns: gathering, analyzing and recommending business requirements | Corporate Strategy mentored by Eric Ries |
| People and HR analytics | HR Intern: support across HR functions, including AI-powered HR tools | Amazon Fulfillment Center People Analytics |
With most IXP roles remote, a finished remote project is direct evidence that you can deliver work without someone at the next desk.
What Is the CAI Application and Interview Process Like?
CAI doesn't publish its interview steps, so this is what the reqs and job site show:
1. Find the role. Check the intern jobs page, which lists only US intern reqs. Apply through Workday.
2. Match the bar. Confirm you're a current junior with a 3.5 GPA, US work authorization and full availability June 7 to August 6, 2027.
3. Apply to more than one role. Each IXP role is a separate req with its own timing, and some close within two weeks.
4. Interviews and offer. Not published by CAI. Ask the recruiter about the steps and timing when you're contacted.
If a req disappears before you apply, check back: CAI re-posted several intern reqs on 1 and 2 October 2026.
What the Community Says
Student discussion of CAI internships is thin, so these cards mix local Reddit comments with a dated intern review.
A Lehigh Valley commenter said CAI hires consistently, often brings on paid interns and then hires them after graduation, and also hires students straight out of college because it works across many client sites in the area.
Asked which tech employers to network with in the Lehigh Valley, a commenter named CAI as the biggest one they could think of, ahead of local companies that need IT staff in other sectors.
A former summer intern in Chicago said interns got to take control of their own work and project, while noting the pace was a little slow at times.
How Do You Stand Out for a CAI Internship?
Three moves, all doable this month.
Apply in the first week. CAI's postings close without notice. Set a weekly reminder to check the intern jobs page and apply the day a matching role appears.
Show public-sector interest. Several roles support state health and human services programs, such as child welfare and child support. A class project or volunteer role in social services is worth naming.
Prove you can work remotely. Seven of the 10 live roles are remote. Point to a project you finished with a distributed team, and mention the tools you used to stay organized.
On return offers, CAI's IXP page says "90% of interns" are offered full-time roles. It doesn't give a year or sample size, so treat it as CAI's own claim.
