Last updated: October 2026
Bombardier's own job board listed 14 US intern and co-op requisitions on October 25, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, Red Oak, Texas and Des Plaines, Illinois, posted between August 28 and October 20, 2026. They range from a Flight Test Engineer Intern to an Operations Intern, and the titles split into summer 2027 roles, year-round or full-year roles, and reqs that name no term. Bombardier states the US rule plainly: be at least 18 and enrolled in a community college, four-year university, graduate program or technical school at the start of the internship. In plain words: you apply this fall for a summer 2027 start, or for a year-round role that can begin sooner, and new reqs are still going up.

The row that matters most: 14 US intern reqs are live, there's no stated deadline, and Bombardier doesn't publish pay.
Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most often in 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. Bombardier's Red Oak co-ops ask for data analysis and continuous improvement, and the Breaking Games SQL & Database Architecture Externship and the Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics Externship build those skills. No aerospace Externship exists. Explore all Externships.
What Is a Bombardier Internship?
A Bombardier internship in the US is a student placement at the Canadian business jet maker's American operations, mainly in Wichita, Kansas, plus Red Oak, Texas and Des Plaines, Illinois. Unlike a big-company cohort program, the US roles are separate requisitions by function: avionics, flight sciences and flight test engineering, electrical engineering, wing stress, operations, continuous improvement, data analysis, project integration, talent acquisition, and hazardous materials and export compliance. Bombardier describes its program as hands-on experience on real projects, with coaching from industry experts. Bombardier also runs internships in Canada and Mexico and a rotational new-graduate engineering program, which are outside this guide.

When Do Bombardier Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Bombardier's US posting pattern is a trickle, not a wave. The 14 live reqs carry posting dates from August 28 to October 20, 2026: a Red Oak continuous improvement co-op first, the summer 2027 engineering reqs between September 14 and October 6, and the newest, a year-round talent acquisition intern, on October 20. The reqs don't state start dates, so we don't project one for the summer cohort. We couldn't find prior-cycle posting dates, so any projection for summer 2028 rests on a single observed cycle and is low confidence.
Fourteen US intern and co-op reqs posted one by one. The earliest is a Red Oak continuous improvement co-op, the summer 2027 engineering reqs came September 14 to October 6, and a year-round talent acquisition intern posted October 20.
All 14 are live on Bombardier's board, with no close dates. Reqs can disappear without notice, so don't wait for a deadline that isn't there.
New reqs keep arriving individually, and filled ones disappear. Set an alert on the Internships & New Graduate Programs category with the US filter.
Five reqs are labeled Year-round or Full year, plus one Ongoing, so they fit an academic schedule that allows 20 to 30 hours a week. Start dates aren't stated on the reqs.
Four reqs name summer, two of them Summer 2027 (Avionics Engineering and Flight Test Engineer, Wichita), plus a Wing Stress summer role in Red Oak and an Electrical Engineer role open to year-round or summer. Exact dates aren't published.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Bombardier posts reqs one at a time and none states a closing date, so the useful signal is that they leave. The Accounts Payable Intern req that was on the board on October 17 was gone by October 25, within 19 days of its October 6 posting, with no notice on the board. We can't tell whether it was filled or pulled, but it shows a req can disappear within weeks. Apply to the req you want in its first weeks, and don't assume the engineering reqs from mid-September are still open next month.
Which Bombardier Internship Programs Should You Target?
There's no fixed program menu. Pick a req by function, term and site, because each one has its own degree line.
| Track | Focus | Term | Key details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Avionics, electrical and flight test engineering | Avionics Engineering Intern (summer and year-round), Electrical Engineer Intern, Flight Test Engineer Intern (summer 2027) | Summer 2027 or year-round | Wichita, KS; aerospace, electrical, computer or engineering degree |

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Bombardier sets one US rule on its program page and then adds degree lines req by req.
• US rule: at least 18 years old, and enrolled in a community college, four-year university, graduate program or technical school at the start of the internship.
• Engineering reqs: most name a major: aerospace, electrical or computer engineering for avionics and electrical roles; aerospace, civil or mechanical for wing stress; junior, senior or graduate student in aerospace for flight sciences.
• Business reqs: business or engineering for Project Integrator, a university student in HR, management or business for Talent Acquisition, and supply chain, logistics, EHS or business for the compliance role.
• Class year: Operations Intern asks for a college freshman at minimum; Talent Acquisition asks for a sophomore or above; the Data Analyst co-op asks for a 2026 to 2028 graduation date.
• GPA and citizenship: none of the 14 reqs states a GPA minimum or a citizenship requirement.

Can a Non-Engineering Student Apply?
Yes, for about half the reqs. Operations, Project Integrator, Talent Acquisition, Hazardous Materials and Export Compliance, and the Data Analyst co-op all take business, supply chain, HR, quality or manufacturing majors. The avionics, flight test, electrical and wing stress roles name engineering degrees, so match the degree line to your major before applying.
What Skills Does Bombardier Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
The 14 reqs are too different for one skills ranking, but three patterns recur. The data and operations reqs want analysis and dashboards: the Data Analyst co-op asks for KPI monitoring, root cause and corrective action, and tools such as DMAIC, 8D and Six Sigma. The engineering reqs want coursework plus tools: the wing stress roles list CATIA, MSC Patran and Altair Hypermesh as a plus. The business reqs want Microsoft Office, written and verbal communication, and meeting deadlines on several tasks at once.
Note: The 14 live US reqs span engineering, operations, data, HR and compliance, so we don't publish a skills percentage chart. The skills above are from reading the req bodies on Bombardier's board on October 25, 2026.
How Is Demand for Electrical Engineering Interns Moving Right Now?

Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size. Pay = median of employer-published ranges only (119 postings in September, 36 in August).
Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each skill below comes from the live reqs, with a remote Externship that practices it.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Data analysis and KPI dashboards | Intern/Co-op (Data Analyst), Red Oak: KPI monitoring, dashboards and reporting tools | Breaking Games SQL & Database Architecture |
| Operations and continuous improvement | Intern/Co-op (Continuous Improvement), Operations Intern: manufacturing fundamentals, schedule attainment, cost performance | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Presenting to leaders | Continuous Improvement co-op: "speaking in front of and collaborating with groups of leaders"; Data Analyst co-op: presentation preparation | Lean Startup Co. Corporate Strategy, mentored by Eric Ries |
There's no aerospace or engineering-design Externship, so these cover the analysis, operations and communication lines in the reqs, not the CATIA or flight test ones.
What Is the Bombardier Application and Interview Process Like?
Bombardier's career FAQ says all applications are made online. The steps that follow are what the board and FAQ support:
1. Open the US board. Use the Internships & New Graduate Programs category with the US location filter. The Canadian reqs on the same category are a different program.
2. Match the req to your major and term. Check the degree line and whether the title says Summer 2027, Year-round or Full year.
3. Apply online. Bombardier says resumes sent outside its website aren't considered.
4. Wait for contact. The FAQ says Bombardier acknowledges your application and contacts retained candidates by phone and others by email.
5. Set an alert. New reqs appear individually, so alerts catch roles that aren't on the board today.
Bombardier doesn't publish interview rounds or timing, so we won't guess.
What Students on Reddit Say
We found no recent first-hand Bombardier intern accounts on Reddit. The closest usable post is a practitioner's advice in a 2024 thread.
In August 2024, a commenter answering a Wichita-bound student's question about flight test careers said Wichita State graduates should target Bombardier or Textron, because both run their main flight test operations in Wichita, and that Bombardier hadn't started advertising summer roles yet.
How Do You Stand Out at Bombardier?
First, match the req to your coursework and name it. The reqs are specific: wing stress wants basic knowledge of aircraft structure, flight test wants an engineering degree and the ability to absorb large quantities of data. Second, apply early and to more than one req if your major fits several, since reqs can vanish without notice. Third, bring something finished: a CATIA model, a dashboard, a root cause analysis. Bombardier doesn't publish class size, applicant counts or a return-offer rate, so we won't estimate them.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Bombardier internship?
No. Summer 2026 internships are over. Bombardier's US board had 14 intern and co-op reqs open on October 25, 2026, including summer 2027 roles in Wichita and Red Oak plus year-round roles that can start sooner. None states a closing date.
When do Bombardier internship applications open?
Bombardier posts reqs one at a time. The current US reqs went up between August 28 and October 20, 2026, and new ones keep appearing. We couldn't find prior-cycle dates, so we won't promise a summer 2028 window, though an August to October pattern is plausible.
Where are Bombardier's US internships?
On October 25, 2026, nine reqs were in Wichita, Kansas (one also listing Windsor Locks, Connecticut and Tucson, Arizona), four in Red Oak, Texas, and one in Des Plaines, Illinois. Bombardier says it promotes flexible and hybrid work where applicable.
Who is eligible for a Bombardier internship in the US?
You must be at least 18 and enrolled in a community college, four-year university, graduate program or technical school at the start of the internship. Individual reqs add majors, such as aerospace or electrical engineering. None of the 14 states a GPA minimum or citizenship rule.
How much do Bombardier interns get paid?
Bombardier hasn't published pay for its US internships. None of the 14 live reqs or the program page states a figure, and one mentions only a competitive hourly rate. We left out social media and job-board estimates, because they aren't from Bombardier.
Are Bombardier internships rolling?
In effect, yes. Reqs post individually, none states a deadline, and they can vanish without notice: an Accounts Payable Intern req seen October 17 was gone by October 25. Apply soon after a req you want appears rather than waiting for a closing date.
Is Bombardier's ECAP an internship?
No. The Engineering Career Accelerated Program is a rotational program for new graduates, and its US page said the application process for 2027 was closed when we checked on October 25. Students should apply to the internship and co-op reqs instead.
Do Bombardier interns get full-time offers?
Bombardier doesn't publish a return-offer or conversion rate for its US internships, and the reqs don't promise one. Treat any figure you see elsewhere as unverified, and ask the hiring team about conversion during interviews if it matters to you.
Pick the req that matches your major and apply this week, since reqs can vanish without notice. While you wait to hear back, a remote Externship gives you a finished data or operations project to discuss in an interview.
