Austin FC, the MLS club that plays at Q2 Stadium, posts its internships one department at a time on TeamWork Online, and it doesn't pay them all alike. Of the eleven internship postings we could read, dated August 2023 to February 2026, two say paid (Business Strategy and Match Experience, with no rate stated), five say unpaid (Ticketing Sales & Service, Corporate Partnerships, Social Media, Communications and Data Engineer/Analyst) and four don't say. Every one says students should ideally be able to earn academic credit. As of 17 October 2026 none is open. Here's the cycle in plain words: you apply from about mid-November 2026 for the 2027 MLS season, which runs late February to November, and each window is short, so set a TeamWork alert now.

Austin FC's business roles ask for CRM and SQL work, sponsor service and content, and a finished project helps with all three. Externships are short, remote programs where you complete a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks. The Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy Externship fits the Business Strategy and ticketing data work, and the Pinterest Gen Z Consumer Behavior Externship fits the Social Media and Communications roles. What Is an Austin FC Internship?

An Austin FC internship is a department-level role with the MLS club that plays at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. Austin FC joined MLS in January 2019 as the league's 27th club and began play in April 2021, according to its own TeamWork Online postings. There's no single program. The club posts one internship per department, and past ones covered Business Strategy, Ticketing Sales & Service, Corporate Partnerships, Match Experience, Communications, Social Media, Video, Community Impact and Data Engineer/Analyst. Terms vary: some are season-long, running late February to November, and others are part-time and flexible. Pay varies too, with two postings paid and five unpaid. The club's careers page also lists Q2 Stadium event, security, food and beverage and retail jobs; those are separate part-time jobs, not internships.

When Do Austin FC Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Austin FC doesn't publish a recruiting calendar, so the pattern comes from the dates on its TeamWork Online postings. In 2025-26 the club posted four internships on 11 November 2025 (Ticketing Sales & Service, Business Strategy, Match Experience and Community Impact, all closing 1 December), Video on 17 November, Social Media on 5 December and Communications on 2 February 2026. A single Corporate Partnerships role went up on 13 August 2025 for six days. Business Strategy was for a season running late February to November, so the main wave opened about three and a half months before the season. Applications for the 2027 season are expected from about mid-November 2026, with later additions from December to February.

Applications for the 2027 season are expected to open around mid-November 2026. Last cycle, four roles posted on 11 November and closed on 1 December, and Video posted on 17 November. Apply in the first week.

December 2026 to February 2027EXPECTED

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Austin FC's windows are short, and the postings themselves are the evidence. In 2025-26 they stayed open 6 to 20 days: Corporate Partnerships six, Communications seven, Social Media 14, Video 18 and the November cluster 20. The one long exception, the Data Engineer/Analyst role, ran from 10 December 2024 to 30 August 2025, and you shouldn't plan around that. These are the dates TeamWork Online prints, so treat them as a pattern, not a promise. Set a TeamWork alert for Austin FC and send your application within the first week of a posting.

Which Austin FC Internship Programs Should You Target?

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Austin FC's postings share a short list of requirements. No class year or GPA appears in any of them:

• Academic credit: every posting says students should "ideally be able to gain academic credit"; the Social Media posting calls it an option.

• Background check: all selected candidates must pass one before acceptance.

• Language: English and/or Spanish proficiency is essential on most roles, and bilingual is a plus.

• Availability: evenings and weekends on most roles; Match Experience asks for most or all events at Q2 Stadium and Parmer Field.

• Transportation: Ticketing Sales & Service and Community Impact require a reliable source of personal transportation.

• Data role: the Data Engineer/Analyst posting asked for students of computer science, data science, statistics or a comparable field.

• Work authorization: not stated.

Do You Need to Earn Academic Credit?

The wording is "ideally", not "required". Every posting we read says students should ideally be able to gain credit, which suggests the club expects students but doesn't say it checks. Ask your career center whether your school will award credit before you apply, because the unpaid roles, such as Ticketing and Communications, are the ones where credit matters most.

What Skills Does Austin FC Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Across the seven postings we read in full, the shared asks are practical. Availability: six of seven expect evenings, weekends or both. Language: six mention English and/or Spanish, essential in five and a plus in one. Organization: five ask for time management and five for attention to detail. Tools: five name Microsoft Office, and the Business Strategy and Data roles add SQL, Power BI, Tableau, R or Python.

A finished Externship deliverable gives you something concrete to talk about in a short application, which matters when a window lasts under three weeks.

What Is the Austin FC Application and Interview Process Like?

Austin FC doesn't publish an interview format. This is what its postings and careers page show:

1. Set a TeamWork alert. Each internship is a separate posting on Austin FC's TeamWork Online page, which showed no results on 17 October 2026.

2. Apply to one department. Pick the posting that matches your skills: SQL and CRM for Business Strategy, availability for home matches for Match Experience.

3. Check the pay and credit lines. Each posting says whether it's paid or unpaid and that students should ideally be able to earn academic credit.

4. Pass the background check. All selected candidates must clear one before they're accepted.

5. Interview. The club doesn't publish its stages.

What Students on Reddit Say

We found no Reddit thread from an Austin FC intern. The one r/AustinFC thread about the club's jobs is jokes, and the r/sports_jobs post is a bot repost of a posting, so this page has no community cards.

How Do You Stand Out for an Austin FC Internship?

Three moves. First, be ready before the posting goes up. The November cluster closed 20 days after it opened, and Communications stayed open a week, so keep a résumé and a work sample ready from early November. Second, apply to the department, not the club. Business Strategy asks for SQL, a BI tool and CRM experience; Match Experience asks for live-event production and availability for most home matches. Third, be specific about pay and credit. Five of the eleven postings are unpaid and all eleven mention credit, so say in your application that your school will award it. Austin FC doesn't publish an applicant count or a conversion rate, so ask what comes next once you're in.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Austin FC internship?

No. Austin FC has no separate summer program; its internships follow the MLS season, and all eleven postings we found are closed. The last one, Communications, closed on 9 February 2026. Roles for the 2027 season are expected from about mid-November 2026, so set a TeamWork alert now.

When do Austin FC 2027 internship applications open?

Expected around mid-November 2026, with more roles from December to February. That's projected from one prior cycle: four roles posted on 11 November 2025 and closed on 1 December, Social Media posted on 5 December and Communications on 2 February. The club publishes no calendar, so go by its TeamWork page.

Are Austin FC internships paid?

It depends on the role. Business Strategy and Match Experience say paid part-time. Ticketing Sales & Service, Corporate Partnerships, Social Media, Communications and the Data Engineer/Analyst role say unpaid. Community Impact, Video and Match Presentation don't state pay. No hourly rate is published for any of them.

Do I need academic credit for an Austin FC internship?

Every posting says students should ideally be able to gain academic credit, and the Social Media posting calls it an option. None says credit is mandatory, but the unpaid roles lean on it. Check with your school's career center before you apply.

Where does Austin FC post internships?

On its TeamWork Online page, which the club's careers page links to. Each internship is a separate posting, so set a job alert to catch new ones. Q2 Stadium event, security, food and beverage and retail jobs are separate part-time jobs on other boards, not internships.

What does an Austin FC Business Strategy intern do?

The 2025 posting describes helping collect, manage and analyze CRM data, producing ad hoc reports for stakeholders across departments, supporting digital marketing and working with the customer data warehouse. It asked for some SQL, a BI tool and CRM experience, with Power BI and Salesforce a plus. The role was paid part-time and season-long.

How long is an Austin FC internship?

It varies by role. Business Strategy was season-long, late February to November, and Communications ran March to October. The Data Engineer/Analyst role was 15 to 20 hours a week. Most others are part-time with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, around the MLS match calendar.

Do Austin FC interns get full-time offers?

Austin FC doesn't publish a conversion rate or class size, and its postings describe the internships as a way to advance your career without promising a job. Treat the internship as experience and a network, and ask the department what paths exist once you're working with the team.

No Austin FC internship is open yet, and the 2027 season wave is expected from about mid-November. Set a TeamWork alert, and if you want a finished project to show, a remote Externship takes about 5 to 10 hours a week.
