Last updated: October 2026
Applied Value hires interns and co-ops in New York, but you won't find them on its job board. On October 12, 2026, the Applied Value job board listed four openings, all in Stockholm or Shanghai, and no internship. Yet the firm's careers page names a "Consultant Intern" role, and public professional profiles show consulting interns in its New York office in summer 2024 and summer 2025, plus six-month consulting co-ops in fall 2025 and spring 2026.
So this is an honest page about a program that exists and isn't advertised. Applied Value publishes no application dates, no pay and no class size for US students. What it does publish is its interview process, step by step. In plain words: for summer 2027 you'd apply during the 2026 to 2027 school year, through your school's recruiting or co-op office or by contacting the firm, not through a public posting. (This is Applied Value Group, the management consulting firm, not Applied Materials.)
What Is an Applied Value Internship?
An Applied Value internship is a consulting role, usually in the New York office, in which a student works on client projects at a boutique management consulting firm focused on cost and capital efficiency. The firm describes the Consultant Intern role in one sentence: interns contribute by "partaking in client engagements, sales activities, and special projects across Applied Value Group." A second student route, a six-month Management Consulting Co-op, shows up in public profiles but isn't described on the firm's site.
Applied Value Group was founded in 1997, and Vault lists it at 51 to 100 employees. Its practice areas include sourcing and procurement, supply chain and operations, strategy and finance, and mergers and acquisitions. In August 2025 it announced a growth investment from Trivest Partners, a private equity firm. Vault ranks it, under the name Applied Value Consulting, #38 on the Vault Consulting 50 for North America (2026 edition), and #6 for international opportunities.

When Do Applied Value Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Applied Value hasn't published an application window for US students, for summer 2027 or any other term, and we couldn't recover a dated US intern posting from any earlier year. We checked the firm's job board on October 12, 2026: four openings, none in the United States, none for interns. What exists is a record of when past students worked there. Public profiles show New York consulting interns from June to August 2024 and from June 2025, a Management Consulting Co-op from August to December 2025 and another from January to June 2026. The timeline below projects those months forward. The work months are expectations based on those profiles; the application dates are unknown, so we don't give a lead time.
No US intern or co-op posting is public. Applications for summer 2027 and for the spring 2027 co-op have no published window. Ask your career or co-op office this month whether Applied Value recruits at your school.
A spring 2027 co-op cohort in New York is expected if the firm repeats last year, when a Management Consulting Co-op ran from January to June 2026.
The summer 2027 Consultant Intern months, projected from New York interns who worked June to August 2024 and from June 2025.
A fall 2027 co-op cohort is expected on the same reasoning: a New York co-op ran from August to December 2025.
Possible full-time start for returning students. Two New York profiles show a summer 2025 intern and a fall 2025 co-op listed as analysts from July and August 2026. That's two people, not a rate.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
We can't tell you whether Applied Value fills its intern seats on a rolling basis or by a deadline, because there's no posting to read either from. What we can say is why early contact matters here more than at a firm with a public application.
First, the route runs through people. With no posting, you find out about the role when your career office, your co-op office or the firm's New York office tells you, and those conversations take time to set up. Second, the process has several steps. The firm's own page describes a screening, a first round with a quantitative test, a second round with partners and an offer "within 1-4 weeks" after that. Glassdoor's summary of candidate reports puts Consultant Intern hiring at about 60 days on average, a community-reported figure. Third, the firm is small, about 51 to 100 people. Start asking in the fall for a summer role, and a semester ahead for a co-op.
Which Applied Value Internship Programs Should You Target?
Two student roles are evidenced in the US, both in New York. Neither has a public posting, so the table shows when past students held them.
| Role | What's documented | Location | Next expected |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consultant Intern (summer) | Named on the firm's careers page; New York interns in Jun to Aug 2024 and from Jun 2025 | New York | Summer 2027: about Jun to Aug 2027; no posting or window published |
| Management Consulting Co-op (spring) | One New York co-op, Jan to Jun 2026, from a public profile | New York | Spring 2027: about Jan to Jun 2027 if repeated |
| Management Consulting Co-op (fall) | One New York co-op, Aug to Dec 2025, from a public profile | New York | Fall 2027: about Aug to Dec 2027 if repeated |
| Analyst (full-time entry level) | The step after intern on the firm's career ladder; its analyst posting promises one junior and one senior coach | No US opening on the board on Oct 12, 2026 | Not published |
The firm's LinkedIn page has also advertised an internship in Stockholm, which is outside this US guide. The firm's own role descriptions are on its consulting careers page.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Applied Value doesn't publish eligibility rules for interns. These points come from its consulting careers page and its live postings for analysts and consultants:
• Class year: not stated for the Consultant Intern role.
• Application materials: "All applicants must submit a resume/CV complete with a cover letter and GPA."
• Traits: leadership, "business acumen, financial skills, and a willingness to travel are essential." Start-up, management, engineering or sales experience is a plus.
• Degree: the firm's analyst and consultant postings, which are for Stockholm and Shanghai, say "Degrees in Engineering, Business and Economics are preferred but not required." That's the nearest stated guide for interns.
• Work authorization: not stated anywhere we could find.

Is There a GPA Cutoff at Applied Value?
The firm asks for your GPA but doesn't publish a minimum. Its screening step requires a resume, a cover letter and a GPA from every applicant, so expect the number to be read. Beyond that, the firm's stated test is fit: "At Applied Value, fit is everything," its careers page says, and the first interview round opens with a quantitative skills test. On schools, Management Consulted, a third-party prep site, names Emory as a place the firm recruits, and the co-op titles point to schools with formal co-op programs. That's too thin to call a target list.

What Skills Does Applied Value Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
With no intern posting to read, we used the firm's consulting careers page and its three live analyst and consultant postings, which are for Stockholm and Shanghai. They agree on the basics. Financial skills and willingness to travel appear in all four. So does a habit unusual for junior consultants: early involvement in sales. The analyst posting says new hires are "expected to be a part of the sales process," including producing sales materials and joining sales meetings, and the firm's intern description mentions "sales activities" too. The Shanghai consultant posting shows the project content: procurement spend, supplier performance, cost structures and "client-ready analyses, executive presentations."
What Applied Value looks for in interns
Skills across 4 Applied Value intern & analyst job descriptions · careers page and live analyst and consultant postings (none US, none intern), October 2026
Method: full-text reading of four Applied Value sources on October 12, 2026: the consulting careers page (roles, criteria and process) and three live postings on the firm's Recruitee board (Consulting Analyst, Shanghai; Consultant / Senior Consultant, Stockholm; Consultant/Senior Consultant, Shanghai). None is a US or intern posting, because none exists publicly, so treat this as what the firm asks of junior consultants in general.
How Is Demand for Consulting Interns Moving Right Now?

For Applied Value applicants: Applied Value's own job board listed four openings on October 12, 2026, all in Stockholm or Shanghai, and no US or intern role. Don't wait for one to appear: ask your career or co-op office about the firm's New York roles.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each skill the firm names maps to a remote Externship that gives you a finished project to discuss.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Operations and supply chain improvement | Consultant posting: "supply chain optimization, cost reduction, and operational improvement initiatives" | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Financial skills | Careers page: "business acumen, financial skills, and a willingness to travel are essential" | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
| Strategy and case structure | Careers page: second-round interviews use "behavioral and case questions" | Lean Startup Co. Corporate Strategy, mentored by Eric Ries |
| Data analysis for a commercial recommendation | Consultant posting: "client-ready analyses, executive presentations" built on data | Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy |
The operations row is the closest fit, since cost and operational improvement is the work Applied Value is known for.
What Is the Applied Value Application and Interview Process Like?
This is the one part Applied Value publishes in full. Its consulting careers page describes a multi-phase process:
1. Initial screening. "All applicants must submit a resume/CV complete with a cover letter and GPA."
2. First-round interviews. They "start with a quantitative skills test and include interviews with consultants to assess skill and knowledge."
3. Second-round interviews. Held with partners, who "assess candidate 'fit' and capability with behavioral and case questions."
4. Offer letter. "Offer letters are typically shared within 1-4 weeks of 2nd round interviews."
The firm doesn't say whether interns follow every step, but nothing suggests a separate track. Practice timed mental math and data questions for round one, and use our behavioral interview guide for the partner round.
What Employees Say on Vault
Reddit has nothing on this firm: searches for the name return threads about pricing methods and investing courses instead. These cards come from Vault's 2026 employee survey, so they're staff voices, not interns.
One respondent called the firm extremely competitive and said you need both the emotional intelligence and the raw intellect to make it through.
On hiring, a respondent described a fast process with feedback given along the way.
On daily life, a respondent described a flexible work culture where travel is required.
How Do You Stand Out for an Applied Value Internship?
Three moves. First, find the door. Ask your career office and your co-op office whether Applied Value recruits on your campus, and if it doesn't, write to the New York office through the contact on the firm's offices page with a resume, a cover letter and your GPA, the three things the firm requires. Second, train for the quantitative test. It opens the first round, so practice timed arithmetic, percentages and chart reading until they're quick. Third, speak the firm's language. Applied Value sells cost reduction, sourcing and supply chain work, and it expects junior staff to help with sales. A story about cutting a cost, negotiating with a supplier or selling something will land better than a generic strategy answer. The firm publishes no class size, applicant count or return-offer rate.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Applied Value internship?
No, summer 2026 is over. For summer 2027, Applied Value hasn't published a posting, an opening date or a deadline, so nothing says the window has closed. The firm's job board showed no US or intern role on October 12, 2026. Ask your career or co-op office, or contact the New York office directly.
Does Applied Value have internships?
Yes. The firm's careers page lists a Consultant Intern role, and public profiles show consulting interns in its New York office in summer 2024 and summer 2025. It has also had six-month Management Consulting Co-ops in New York, one from August to December 2025 and one from January to June 2026.
Where is the Applied Value internship posted?
Nowhere public, as of October 12, 2026. The firm's Recruitee job board listed four openings that day, all in Stockholm or Shanghai, and none for interns. US student roles appear to be filled through campus and co-op channels and direct contact, which is why an empty board doesn't mean the firm isn't hiring.
When do Applied Value internship applications open for summer 2027?
The firm hasn't published a date, and we found no dated US posting from earlier years to project from. Past New York interns worked from about June to August. Candidate reports summarized on Glassdoor put intern hiring at about 60 days on average, so starting conversations in the fall is the safe choice.
What is the Applied Value interview process?
The firm publishes four steps. You submit a resume, a cover letter and your GPA. The first round starts with a quantitative skills test and includes interviews with consultants. The second round is with partners and uses behavioral and case questions. Offer letters typically follow within one to four weeks.
How much do Applied Value interns earn?
Applied Value doesn't publish intern or co-op pay. There's no US intern posting that could carry a pay range, and the salary fields on the firm's job board are empty for every live opening. Pay numbers you see on aggregator sites are estimates or full-time figures, so ask the recruiter directly.
Do Applied Value interns get full-time offers?
No rate is published. Two public New York profiles show a summer 2025 intern and a fall 2025 co-op each listed as an analyst about a year later, so returning does happen. Vault's profile says the firm likes to fill senior positions from within. Two profiles aren't a conversion rate, though.
Is Applied Value the same as Applied Materials?
No. Applied Value Group is a management consulting firm founded in 1997 that works on cost, sourcing, supply chain and strategy projects, with US offices in New York, Miami and the Boston area. Applied Materials is a semiconductor equipment company with its own, much larger internship program. Job sites sometimes mix the two names.
Applied Value's student roles are real, but nobody posts them, so the work is finding the door and being ready when it opens. A remote Externship gives you a finished operations or financial modeling project to bring to that first conversation.
