AlixPartners' undergraduate internships for summer 2027 are already closed. On October 12, 2026, the firm's internships page listed both New York undergraduate programs, Turnaround & Restructuring and Risk Advisory, as "Applications are now closed" for the June 7 to August 13, 2027 program. The window is short. For summer 2026 the same page gave it as August 15 to September 5 or 7, 2025, about three weeks at the very start of the school year. So the next undergraduate window is for summer 2028, expected around mid-August 2027. In plain words: you apply in August and early September 2027, you intern in summer 2028.

MBA students are on a different clock. Both MBA internships for summer 2027 were posted on September 1, 2026 and are open now, and each posting says it will remain posted until November 12, 2026.

What Is an AlixPartners Internship?

An AlixPartners internship is a paid, 10-week summer program at AlixPartners, the consulting firm Jay Alix founded in Detroit in 1981, best known for turnaround and restructuring work. In the US it runs four consulting internships: two for undergraduates in New York (Turnaround & Restructuring and Risk Advisory) and two for MBA students (Strategy & Analysis and Turnaround & Restructuring). The firm describes "an apprenticeship approach, where interns work side-by-side with industry experts" and gives each intern a "Performance Partner" for coaching.

AlixPartners ranks #17 on Vault's 2026 most prestigious consulting firms list, up from #18 in 2025. Its restructuring posting names past engagements including Enron, General Motors, FTX and Pacific Gas and Electric. One thing to know early: Vault's profile says the firm's ideal hire has "around a decade of industry experience," and the undergraduate programs are New York only. The firm doesn't publish class sizes.

When Do AlixPartners Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

AlixPartners runs its undergraduate and MBA internships on two separate calendars. Undergraduate (documented): for summer 2026, the firm's page listed applications from August 15 to September 7, 2025 for Turnaround & Restructuring and August 15 to September 5, 2025 for Risk Advisory, with the program starting June 1, 2026. That's about 9.5 months from opening to start, and a window of about three weeks. For summer 2027 the firm's page now reads closed. A third-party tracker, Management Consulted, reported deadlines of August 30, 2026 (Turnaround & Restructuring) and September 11, 2026 (Risk Advisory); those two dates are tracker-reported, not AlixPartners' own. Applications for summer 2028 are expected around mid-August 2027.

MBA (documented): for summer 2026 the page read "Open now through November 16, 2025." For summer 2027, both postings went up on September 1, 2026, about 9 months before the June 7, 2027 start, and each says it stays posted until November 12, 2026.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

AlixPartners is a short-window firm, not a rolling one. The undergraduate programs opened on August 15, 2025 and closed on September 5 and 7, 2025, and that's the firm's own published record for summer 2026. Three weeks in late August is easy to miss, and a search that begins in mid-September finds a page that already says closed.

Two details raise the stakes. Each option is a separate posting (two under Turnaround & Restructuring, three under Risk Advisory), and Management Consulted's tracker noted that the three Risk Advisory postings carried different deadlines in 2026. The dates also moved by about a week between cycles if the tracker dates are right, so don't plan around the last day. Have your resume and transcript ready by early August 2027 and apply in the first week the postings appear.

MBA applicants have a stated date instead: both live postings say they remain posted until November 12, 2026.

Which AlixPartners Internship Programs Should You Target?

AlixPartners lists four US consulting internships and one corporate internship. Only the MBA and corporate roles are open today.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Undergraduate rules below come from the summer 2026 Turnaround & Restructuring Summer Analyst posting, the latest one that can still be read; the summer 2027 undergraduate postings closed before they were archived. MBA rules come from the two live postings.

• Class year (undergraduate): rising seniors. The summer 2026 posting required "an expected graduation date between December 2026 and August 2027," one year after the internship.

• Major: "Degree(s) in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is required" for Turnaround & Restructuring. Risk Advisory lists finance, accounting, economics, data science, business analytics and related fields, and takes master's students too.

• GPA: "Minimum GPA of 3.5 is required" on the summer 2026 Turnaround & Restructuring posting. The Risk Advisory figure isn't available.

• Work authorization: no sponsorship on any track. The undergraduate posting named H-1B, STEM OPT, TN, F-1 and CPT; the MBA postings add J-1.

• Location: undergraduates must live "within commuting distance to the New York Alix office," on a hybrid schedule.

• MBA tracks: MBA Class of 2028 (graduating December 2027 to August 2028) with a "minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience."

Is the 3.5 GPA a Hard Cutoff at AlixPartners?

The wording says yes. The summer 2026 Turnaround & Restructuring posting used "required" for both the 3.5 GPA and the accounting, finance or economics degree, and listed relevant internships only as "preferred." Two cautions. That posting is from the previous cycle, so the figure isn't confirmed for summer 2027 or 2028. And it covers one track: we couldn't retrieve a Risk Advisory posting, so don't assume the same number applies there. For international students the authorization line matters more than GPA, because the postings rule out anyone who would need sponsorship now or later.

What Skills Does AlixPartners Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Three full postings were readable: the summer 2026 undergraduate Turnaround & Restructuring Summer Analyst posting and the two live MBA postings for summer 2027. All three ask for financial modeling, Excel and PowerPoint. The undergraduate posting describes "designing and building quality models, drafting PowerPoint presentations, performing financial and operational analysis." The MBA restructuring posting gets specific: discounted cash flow, LBO and three-statement models, plus 13-week cash flow forecasts. All three also want data tools beyond Excel; the MBA postings name SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Python and R, and both MBA postings ask for experience with AI-enabled tools. Restructuring vocabulary runs through the program descriptions: liquidity management, first day motions, claims administration.

Three moves. First, treat mid-August as the deadline, not September. Both undergraduate programs opened on August 15, 2025 and shut within three weeks. Set a reminder for early August 2027 and check the internships page weekly from then. Second, clear the stated bars before you apply. For Turnaround & Restructuring that meant a 3.5 GPA, an accounting, finance or economics degree, and a graduation date one year after the internship. If you're on F-1 or CPT, read the authorization line first. Third, speak the practice's language. Know what a 13-week cash flow forecast is, what first day motions do in a Chapter 11 case, and how claims administration works; the program descriptions name all of them, and a model you built yourself is the best evidence you can bring.
