Week 1

Live Activities: Meet your mentors and peers.
Project Objective: Discover how data analytics drives real-world healthcare decisions. Define a research question around infection trends using modern AI tools.
Tasks:
- Explore public datasets, learn the three types of analytics, and use ChatGPT to frame your research question.

Output

A clear research question and outline of infection data attributes to investigate.

Milestone 2

Collecting & Preparing Data

Weeks 2

Live Activities: Hands-on workshop in data sourcing and cleaning.
Project Objective: Get your hands on large healthcare datasets and prep them for real analysis.
Tasks:
- Pull public datasets (WHO, Kaggle, Medicare)
- Clean and structure them in Python
- LLMs to surface possible analyses.

A ready-to-analyze dataset you’ve personally prepared.

Exploratory Data Analysis

Weeks 3 & 4

Live Activities: Guided session on Python-based EDA.
Project Objective: Uncover meaningful insights in infection data — the kind analysts use to inform public health decisions.

- Run statistical methods.

Project Objective: Showcase your insights through interactive dashboards that stakeholders can actually use.

- Build a dashboard in Claude or Power BI.
- Tailor visualizations to your research question.
- Practice presenting to a non-technical audience.

And if you're lucky enough to get an internship, there's no guarantee you're in for a meaningful experience when it comes to training and support. Externships were designed as accessible, high-quality experiences to bridge the divide between academia and the workforce.

No prior experience or specific background is required - as long as you’re passionate, curious, and have a drive to learn.

Graduate students in Master’s, Doctorate, or Professional Degree programs at U.S.-based institutions
