You’ll receive base pay for every approved post, regardless of how it performs, with opportunities to earn extra through performance-based incentives. Payments are made monthly through Gusto.

We’ll share a content brief to help you get started and provide feedback along the way.

Once you’ve signed, we’ll help you get started with your first batch of videos.

Your contract renews monthly, so you can plan your content around school, work, and other commitments.
From invite to first payout
You get an invite.
Claire emails you from claire@extern.com.
You reply.
Tell her you’re in and send over your social handles.
You sign and get your brief.
Once you’ve received email confirmation that you’ve been selected for the program, we’ll send your contract through DocuSign, along with your first content brief.
You create and post.
Film your videos, share them for feedback, and post once they’re approved.
You get paid.
Get base pay for every approved post, plus any additional incentives you’ve earned. Payments are processed monthly through Gusto.

Is the Extern Creator Program real?
Yes! It’s an official Extern program run by our creator team. This page lives on extern.com, so you’re hearing it straight from us.
Who is Claire?
Claire is a member of Extern’s creator team and your point of contact.
Why did I get an invite?
We reach out to alumni and current externs whose work and feedback stood out to us. If you got one, we think you’d be great at this.
How much does it pay?
Your invitation email from Claire lays out exactly what you’d earn, and your contract confirms it before you sign anything.
Do I need a lot of followers?
Nope. We care much more about your experience than your audience size.
How do I get paid?
Through Gusto, after each month, once your posts are reviewed. You never have to send an invoice.
Can I stop anytime?
Contracts run month to month. Your contract explains how to end it whenever you need to.
I wasn’t invited. Can I still join?
We’re starting with invitations, but if you’ve done an Extern externship and would love to create with us, email claire@extern.com and tell us a bit about yourself.
