About The Human Skills Project

The Human Skills Project is a societal commitment by PwC to help prepare the next generation of talent with the skills that matter most in today’s world of work — such as communication, critical thinking, ethical judgment, adaptability, and responsible use of AI.

Through real-world, project-based experiences, learners build these skills by working on meaningful challenges with guidance from professionals, while organizations benefit from fresh thinking, practical insights, and mission-aligned recommendations.

What's in it for your organization?

Turn Your Mission into a Learning Experience — Without the Extra Work

Share a real-world challenge and let motivated learners help you solve it. You share context and light guidance; Extern and PwC handle everything else. Your work becomes a hands-on learning experience that builds future-ready talent while supporting your mission.

Gain Fresh Perspectives and AI Workflows

You’ll be working with motivated U.S. college students, early-career professionals, and adult learners who bring new energy and perspectives to your organization. They’re guided to use AI thoughtfully and responsibly to strengthen their research, insights, and recommendations — while also showcasing practical ways AI can be applied to improve your everyday processes and help advance your mission more efficiently.

Current Nonprofit Consulting Projects

Fundraising Research & Strategy Externship

Goals

Externs research, design, and recommend an AI-supported fundraising system that helps a nonprofit identify aligned potential funders and make informed decisions about how to engage them. Externs clarify the organization’s value proposition, map who benefits from that value, and translate insights into a prioritized donor strategy.

Description

In this program, externs will explore how a nonprofit creates value — and who is most likely to invest in it. They’ll use AI tools to research potential donors, apply a lead qualification rubric, and co-develop a pitch strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and messaging. Final outputs include a prioritized list of leads, sample donor personas, a strategy map, and one tailored pitch artifact.

Data-Informed Decision-Making Externship

Goals

Externs will help a nonprofit make better, data-informed decisions by designing a simple AI-assisted workflow for accessing, cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing key data. The project centers on one recurring, high-stakes decision the organization wants to improve.

Description

In this program, externs will define the decision to be improved, identify the required data inputs, and use AI tools to analyze and visualize insights. The result is a system the organization can use to revisit this decision over time. Final outputs could include a cleaned dataset, basic visualizations, an analysis summary, and a 1–2 page decision brief outlining recommendations.

Communication Strategy Externship

Goals

Externs will help a nonprofit design a communication system to reach the right audiences with the right messages. Through stakeholder mapping, audience analysis, and AI-assisted drafting, externs will recommend a communication strategy that supports outreach, engagement, and relationship-building.

Description

In this program, externs will identify 4–6 key stakeholder groups (e.g., funders, partners, beneficiaries) and clarify the goals of communication for each. Using AI tools, they’ll analyze outreach channels, generate message drafts, and design an engagement flow for one audience. Final outputs could include an audience–purpose matrix, a stakeholder outreach strategy, and a sample communication asset.

Impact Assessment Externship

Goals

Externs will help a nonprofit define what success looks like for a specific program or initiative, and design an AI-supported system to measure, interpret, and communicate that success clearly. The focus is on enabling better decisions about what to improve, continue, or communicate to stakeholders.

Description

In this program, externs will collaborate with a nonprofit to define meaningful indicators of success, design a lightweight measurement framework, and generate a clear snapshot of results. Using AI tools, they’ll translate data into visual insights and craft a concise impact narrative tailored to a stakeholder audience. Final outputs could include a success definition, results snapshot, and one communication asset that tells the story of the organization’s impact.
