The externship simulated a real-world IoT environment for a marina and required hands-on offensive and defensive work against connected devices. The project involved launching and analyzing attacks like spoofing and replay, and implementing cryptographic defenses such as TLS and mTLS. Deliverables documented attack methods and the implemented security controls.
I produced a consolidated threat model for the Grand Marina, mapping sensors, brokers, actuators and trust boundaries, applying STRIDE, and delivering a threat-model card plus a PDF report.
The module presented the Grand Marina water system, I mapped assets and data flows, applied STRIDE to identify threats to actuators and sensors, and produced a documented threat model with prioritized controls and supporting diagrams.
