As part of my externship with Schreiber Foods, I focused on developing a sustainability strategy aimed at achieving zero waste in their facilities. I analyzed operational data, identified regional barriers, and designed strategies to enhance waste diversion across multiple plants. This experience allowed me to contribute to real-world solutions in sustainability within the food industry.
Throughout the externship, I engaged in several key projects that enhanced my understanding of sustainability challenges in the food sector. Here is a summary of the work I accomplished across various modules related to Schreiber Foods' zero waste initiative.
Project 1: Inside a Zero Waste Facility
I examined the operational processes of a facility working towards zero waste, identifying best practices and areas for improvement to enhance sustainability efforts.
Project 3: Investigate Regional Barriers
I investigated regional barriers that hindered waste diversion efforts, gathering insights on local regulations and challenges faced by the facilities in different areas.
Project 5: Create Final Presentation
I created a final presentation that synthesized my findings and recommendations, effectively communicating the proposed sustainability strategies and their anticipated impact on waste reduction.

I conducted a comprehensive analysis of data from multiple facilities to assess their current waste management practices and selected plants that could benefit the most from targeted sustainability strategies.
