I source startups tackling water utility challenges

I find and evaluate early-stage environmental tech startups for projects aimed at NYC's water utility.

Work samples

A portfolio of sourced startups, screening notes, and briefs related to environmental tech solutions for NYC's water utility from the externship.

    Hopping Mechanism

Led a four-person team in designing and building a motor-driven hopping mechanism using a cam-and-spring follower system. Coordinated component measurements, laser-cut plate fabrication, assembly, testing, and technical documentation. Applied mechanical design principles to convert rotary motor motion into repeatable hopping motion.

About me

Overview

The work mapped a startup-sourcing funnel and compiled a glossary to support outreach and evaluation during a four-week Environmental Tech Labs externship. It documented the funnel stages, candidate screening criteria, and standardized terminology used across sourcing activities.

What I've accomplished

I defined a sourcing lane focused on pipe, main, and aqueduct integrity and documented that focus as the Week 1 deliverable, framing underground pipe damage detection and the specific use case for later sourcing work.

Project breakdown

I claimed Challenge 2, framed the problem of hidden underground pipe damage and why early detection matters, and defined my lane as pipe, main, and aqueduct integrity with a focus on technologies that detect leaks and pipe deterioration before failure.
