Overview

In the Amazon Operational Strategy & People Analytics Externship, I tackled the challenge of employee retention by analyzing workforce dynamics and strategies within Amazon's Fulfillment Centers. By scraping and interpreting employee reviews, I developed insights to help Learning Ambassadors foster a more engaging and supportive environment for new hires, ultimately addressing the high turnover

What I've accomplished

I delivered a workforce-role spreadsheet that documented duties, interactions, and tools, and an exportable CSV containing cleaned Glassdoor reviews and YouTube transcripts with annotated example reviews.

Project breakdown

Situation: the module required mapping AFC roles. Task: list roles and their responsibilities. Action: I compiled a role table describing duties, who each role worked with, common tools, and notes. Result: a clear workforce-structure spreadsheet showing role responsibilities and tools.

The project collected Glassdoor reviews and YouTube transcripts, removed duplicates and irrelevant columns, and cleaned text into a structured CSV. The submission included example strong positive and negative reviews and a finalized, exportable dataset.

Access

The project combined cleaned Glassdoor reviews and YouTube transcripts, applied TextBlob-based polarity and subjectivity scoring, visualized keyword frequencies and sentiment distributions, and reported that Glassdoor skewed more positive while YouTube showed a more mixed tone.

The project analyzed employee feedback to identify three themes, then selected Burnout as the priority. I ran a 5 Whys root cause analysis and produced a root-cause tree showing a feedback loop where burnout and turnover reinforced demand mismatch.

Google Docs

I segmented feedback by role and employment type, compared pain‑point frequencies across segments, and ranked cohorts by impact, severity, and size. The analysis identified Part‑Time Fulfillment Associates as the top priority due to high burnout, scheduling, and training gaps.
